This exhibition was very good (and was in English as well as Icelandic), and it took us completely by surprise for a town of this size. The highlight was definitely the V.R (virtual reality) part of the exhibition, which uses V.R technology to immerse you into the battle for ten minutes. At 2,700isk per person it is expensive but all up the experience will take you about an hour. There is a cafe there also and a great giftshop with a very tasteful range, except for the hilarious Icelandic condoms which made us laugh. The staff were lovely & we discovered it only opened last week. Given the brilliant bakery in town this town is definitely a good place to visit.

We visited the museum last week and had a mixed experience. The museum is modern and has a nice design. Also the VR-experience was cool and we enjoyed dressing up and taking pictures. Unfortunately some things were not working, the 360 degree TV just showed a loading screen and the tablets to play with were not responsive. One of the three rooms was just full of chairs. We were also sad, that we never received the pictures we took in the end, which would have been a nice memory.

This is a small museum separated into three parts: One room with detailed information about the Sturlurs and what lead to the battle of 1238. The texts were in Icelandic and English and the design and display was very modern. Also this part featured some interactive elements (a game where you re-lived the naval battle and a 360° TV but that was broken) and remaked from historic garments and tools. The second part had four displays of armour and weapon remakes a warrior of that time would be equipped with. The last part was the main attraction of the museum: The VR experience where you could relive the battle of Örlygsstaðir and help retrieve the legendary spear. The staff there was super helpful and kind while setting up the equipment for you. Overall this is a very modern and stylish museum! But it will only take you about 1,5h to see everything, the exhibits were not genuine historic (only remakes) and entrance fee for one adult is 3.450 ISK (about 25€) which for my taste is a little too much for what is offered.

This museum was super fun! It also has a cute gift shop and cafe where we enjoyed heart-shaped waffles. They have two rooms of exhibits - there's an interactive map where you can try to shoot down fleets of ships attacking. There are displays showing the armor, weapons and clothing of Icelandic people during that Civil War period. You learn about the history involving Pagans, Christians and Norway versus the locals living in Iceland - struggling for power. They also had an amazing interactive game you can play for 12 minutes where you simulate going into battle to help the local rebels. Very fun! Aurous!!!! I would highly suggest this as a stop, especially if you have kids - or are just a big kid like me.
