(Translated by Google) In June 2015, our tour guide stopped in Sauðárkrókur. We visited a leather sales and showroom there. An interesting, place! Particularly fascinating and impressive are the leathers made of fish skins with their soft, colorful iridescent skin. You can also buy products made from them here. The staff are friendly and helpful. In the exhibition you can find out about the history of tanneries in Iceland. A fascinating place to visit!

Fantastic! Beautiful displays of skins from fish, lamb, horse, cow, sheep, etc. There are a lot to choose from. I especially loved all the different colored fish skins. Just amazing what they can do here. Not only can you buy just the skins, but some of them have been turned into belts, clothes, shoes, etc. Friendly and helpful staff. You can even take a tour of the tannery. In the backroom, on the walls, are stories of the different time periods throughout the tanning history of Iceland. It takes some time to go through and read them all, but it's well worth it. There is such a rich history here of how tanning hides has changed throughout the ages. I was stunned to see that there are so many different methods one can use in the process! Really neat place. Definitely worth your time to stop in.

We had just a quick stop here on our way through town. A nice litte experience seeing how they made (and still makes) different kinds of leather. I was surprised that fish leather would be so beautiful. Worth a stop. You can also buy leather here at reasonable prices

Very friendly staff! After our failed attempts of hot chocolate in the cold for over 3 days. My buddy and I finally landed on this place and warmed the ole bones with this delicious hot chocolate and a couple of pastries. If you are driving by then stop by. You won’t regret it.

Really cool high end fish tannery shop. They have both finished products featuring tanned fish leather and the leather itself. There are informative boards on the walls in several languages detailing the history of tanning in Iceland. Finished products include handbags, bowties, wallets, jewelry and clothing.

Passed through and figured I needed to find a place for lunch. Opted for a sandwich (not sure what kind, since I don't speak Icelandic and went with the tried-and-true just point at something that looks good) and a chocolate chip cookie. Both were pretty good and offered an opportunity to have enjoy a pit stop as I was making my way to my next destination on my trip. If you're pass though, I recommend it!

I had a really great lunch here with a friend. We had no idea what we were getting, but both my sandwich, hot cocoa, and pastry were really good. I think it was a decent price also.

Nice and comfortable café to stop at. We enjoyed Berliner (not actually the best on earth but we liked it). Nice town with a beautifull church.

I was there back in March and I have to say this bakery is very good. I like the ambience and the fact that this is in a small town. Their pastries are very good.

Delicious pastries and cakes! I've got a slice ou the coconut cake and a cheese roll. Both were fresh and tasteful. Service was helpful and friendly. Also, the prices were fair and good place to eat-in as well. We got a few cinnamon biscuits to go! Tip: if you buy regular filtered coffee, you get unlimited refills 😉

In my 13 day trip, I've been to a few 4*to 5* rated bakeries throughout Iceland. I have to say that this bakery was the best. It was my first visit to a bakery in Iceland and it set a high standard. As you drive pass the ring road. Make a pit stop here and consider the hard wok cafe next to it

We bought food at the bakery for our onward journey. A small and lovely bakery with so much good stuff that you would love to buy them all. We bought various sweet pastries. We could have bought much more than what we bought. So if you are in this village, be sure to stop by.

Super sweet bakery where you can also sit down. They have a lot of different sweets but also bread and sandwiches. They are super kind and helpful - when I asked for a vegetarian sandwich and they didn't have one prepared, they offered to make me one and really took their time to tell me all the ingredients they can put on the sandwich and which sauces they have. I felt really welcome here :) and the sandwich and the sweets were delicious!

[September 2021] This was a nice bakery in Sauðárkrókur I had stopped by as I began my day. It had a nice selection of pasties to choose from, and I picked out the Nutella donut & marshmallow and licorice treat! As someone who does not handle the strong taste of licorice that well but still wanted to give it another shot, The chocolate and marshmallow did a great job to balance out its taste.

Very good local bakery. Big variety of different pastries to pick from. Cinnamon rolls with Carmel are top notch as well as the Swiss Mocha.

Very nice bakery. A good selection of sweet pastry but a rather small selection of bread with something on top, such as a bagel with cheese or another non-sweet option. Very good coffee, freshly brewed and hot. The place is spacious with two areas with tables and chairs. Good space between tables so that you could get up and move around without having to watch yourself or squeeze our self out of the chair. If you are tall, watch out for the chandelier in the inner hall or you will bump your head into it. During the summer, a sheltered outdoor area is also offered which is nice.

Really helpful staff, great selection (even twenty minutes before closing), and a properly made coffee. Just what the doctor ordered to recharge the driver midway through a long drive day.

It isn't much of a visitors center? I feel like it would be better described as a tannery with leather shop? It's a nice shop and it was neat to look in the back window and see the tannery. If you're looking to shop for leather or animal skins this is a great stop. If you're looking for culture and staff to engage with I don't think this is the right stop for you.

The tannery no longer exists or has moved. (Original) Standen heute vor verschlossener Tür. Das Schild über der Tür war abmontiert und durch die Fenster sah man nur leere Ausstellungsfläche.
