This small, remote hotel was truly the best accommodation we had during our week in Iceland. Thor was an exceptional host and made our stay more enjoyable. Loved the room and the view is breathtaking. It is off the beaten path, but I think that adds to the appeal. We were there to watch the sunset…not knowing it doesn’t actually “set” in late June. But the golden “hours” were well spent in the bar/restaurant. I will return the next time I’m in Iceland.

what a perfect place. Brand new hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff was perfect, they accomodated our late arrival and we got a wonderful late dinner, followed by a hike. While the view from the restaurant is great, the climb behind the hotel was even better. I only wish we had known about this place before and could have stayed longer (it was our last night in Iceland), it is so convenient to the Golden circle and the Snaefellness peninsula. Definitely on my list of places to go back to, and highly recommended.

It definitely exceeded our expectations! Amazing locations, though when we were driving there, we thought it is kind in the middle of nowhere :) but that was the main advantage - stunning locations and views from rooms and restaurant, hot tub and bery good service. We thought it was very good price for the quality offered and would definitely recommend this place.

In the middle of nowhere, so great for seeing the Aurora. Would advise a 4WD if visiting. It's not necessary, but road from Thingvellir is 18km of unpaved road. Lovely big rooms, friendly staff & tasty food from the kitchen

Amazing place. Amazing staff, very friendly people. Rooms were fairly good and the hot tub is an Islandic experience that you, definetly, need to try.

We absolutely loved it! Watched the northern lights in the hot tub. Rooms are big and lovely! The service is so personal. Loved every minute of our stay! And the best view!!!

a really nice hotel in the middle of nowhere. rooms are cool, the value for money is great. dinner is basic and well cooked. the pool outside is at 35 degrees and it is a wonderful place where you can relax yourself. the view is simply stunning, highly recommended.

Can’t say enough about the hot tub under the stars and with the northern lights dancing around the edges. Room is modern and has usb and other plugs to charge your devices easily! Dinner was amazing - recommend the lamb and the daiquiri. The Brenna with Icelandic spirits was a great drink as well. Breakfast was well stocked. The turn is a little hard to find. Look for the sign in the field.

Definitely the best night during our roadtrip around Iceland. The lady who greeted us was lovely and really nice to have a chat with. The hotel itself is just superb, and I can't stress it enough! Hot tub under the stars and the aurora (see the attached pic) was the highlight of our trip. It turned out we were the only guests because it was off season, but we still got red carpet treatment. Will definitely come again somewhere around summer next year. Cheers to the hosts/owners!

The cutest hotel owners in the world, the hospitality is out of this world and so is the location and clean rooms. Super price friendly, and overall the reason our trip to Iceland was perfect was due to this hotel and its location. Amazing food, best french fries I've ever had, made banana pancakes for breakfast everything was perfect. Thank you for the stay and travel tips! We will certainly come back! :-)

Where to start? :) The accommodation is literally brand new, the rooms are really spacious and complete! The beds are great, and so are the bathroom and facilities in the room. We loved the view we had on the mountains, the location is fascinating! Breakfast was so good, everything was there, also again the view from the breakfast area on the mountains! We also went to the restaurant, and had the amazing home made burger with fries, be sure to try! As for closing of the day we went too have a drink at a few days, and my spouse loved the beers! Especially "wolf" he loved! Thank you so much for accommodating us for these 4 nights, and that on such a short notice ;) You are doing an amazing job with this great accommodation, we hope to revisit in the future!

Simple and remote in the best possible ways. The hotel sits on a hillside in the middle of nowhere, looking out at everything. A delicious panoramic view, overlooking a river valley teaming with wild nature and friendly sheep. The staff and owners a helpful and friendly, happy to share insights on the area and the culture.

Best value in Iceland. Amazing views and great customer service. Very informative, great breakfast and good bar options. Very scenic. Will visit again

The staff at basalt hotel Iceland were beyond welcoming and helpful. We pulled off the main road for lunch when the restaurant was not open. They welcomed us in without hesitation, opened the kitchen, and served a delightful meal that we enjoyed with a great view. The staff were wonderful to talk to and were genuinely interested in our trip. They provided a list of recommendations for our trip to Husseffell without being asked. if I could give anything higher than five stars, I would. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Will be back.
