This is open from three sides and gives beautiful view of sunset. One has to walk for a kilometre or so to reach here as entry to private vehicles is not permitted from a point. But it is a beautiful place and if you have time then you'll enjoy the view and the wind.

The hidden wonder of Panhala fort. One must walk for about 1/2 kms. Road is tarred but Vehicles are not allowed. In the evening there are no street lights. This is one of the best maintained structures on the fort. It seems to be observation post which gives a 270 Degree view of the valley below. A ideal place for viewing sunset. I thoroughly enjoyed the hike to the top, and it was truly mesmerizing to witness the passing clouds. This place is a stunning destination to explore, especially during the monsoon season. The experience was delightful, and the best part was the lack of crowds typically found at other tourist spots. The best place in Panhala to watch the sunset. Windy and pleasant place close to the location on the fort from where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj started his journey to Vishalgad during the siege of Siddi.

This is one of the biggest bastion on Panhala fort. It is actually a set of 2 bastion on the weather edge of the fort. Masai pathar can be seen from here. It is actually quite far from the rest of fort. A big deep water tank is build in between two bastion.

Place of history, place where near by Chatrapati Shivaji Raje started his journey towards Vishal gad, still feels the presence of some spiritual energy.

Pusati Buruj is the west end of Panhala fort. There are barricades placed at both roads so you need to park the vehicle and walk approximately 1 - 2 KMs to reach the point. I would recommend to reach before sunset and stay till sunset - it's very beautiful. We used to drop shawls from the point into the valley and blowing wind would bring the shawl back. A serene view of Masai pathar and small villages can be seen from the Buruj.

Don't miss this place. You will need to walk for 10 minutes from the internal roads. This buruj is still in good condition. Fortification around this point is in good condition and you can also walk along those walls.

Panhala Fort is a historical fort located in the Sahyadri mountain range in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the town of Panhala, about 20 kilometers northwest of Kolhapur. The fort has a long and rich history, with its origins dating back to the 2nd century BC. It was originally built by the Chalukyas, a dynasty that ruled over much of western and central India. The fort was later captured by the Rashtrakutas and the Marathas, and it served as an important military stronghold for both of these empires. Shivaji Maharaj, the famous Maratha warrior and king, also played a significant role in the history of the fort. He captured Panhala Fort from the Sultanate of Bijapur in 1659 and made it one of the key forts in the Maratha Empire. It served as the capital of the Maratha Empire for a brief period of time during Shivaji Maharaj's reign. Panhala Fort is known for its impressive architecture and strong defenses. It is built on a hilltop, with walls that are up to 40 feet high and gates that are adorned with intricate carvings. The fort also has a number of temples, palaces, and other structures within its walls. It offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and is a popular tourist attraction for those interested in the history of India.
