This zoo is recommended for animal lovers as you can get close up with them and even pet most of them. It's free of charge too! There was heatwave when i went and most animals were indoor. If not we would have gotten to see more animals. I really love this place! Avoid 12pm to 2pm as it is their lunch time.

Entry is free. Sadly during the summer days, the small animals hide in their dens and we only caught a glimpse of the wallabies. I was especially looking forward to seeing the wombats, but didn’t get to. But if you near the Ikeda Castle Ruins, you might as well visit here too. Might get lucky and see the animals outside.

This is a small zoo run by the city. There are only a few animals here, but it's free, so that is fine. The highlights of this zoo is that they have a few wombats, a petting zoo, and pony rides. If you are local, it's a great way to spend an afternoon with kids, but if you're from overseas, then it's probably not worth visiting unless you really like wombats.

Worst zoo ever. It was placed as the number one attraction at Ikeda but I guess it's because no one visits that place. It is about 20 mins walk from the train station. By foot from the train station, you are directed to walk up a steep slope. Very dangerous for kids. If you loose your balance, you will roll down to the main road. The zoo is on the right side. It does not look like a zoo, more like a farm. There were only few animals. The only ones we could pet was the alpaca. The larger section of the 'zoo' was closed the day we visited and their Facebook did not indicate any information. We only saw 3 animals; emu, pony and the alpaca. Total wasted my time and energy. Do not ever visit.

For a zoo with no entrance fee, Satsukiyama Zoo is a very generous & welcoming zoo to many. There are petting zones and several animals to see. Do note that most of the animals seen here are animals that can also be found in Australia, because of its sister city relationship with the Australian municipality of Launceston, Tasmania. It is also highly understandable that they don't take care of too many animals. Do take note, that travelling to this zoo will require some walking and some light hiking up slopes as the zoo is located around the base of mount Satsuki. It is still fairly accessible as its about 10 minutes or less, from the nearest station.

Looking at the reviews now, maybe we could have given this zoo a miss because of the long walk in. Free, so still not too bad. Packed with locals with their kids over the weekend. But still a good place to kill time if you’re an animal lover!

I wish there were more varieties of animals, loved the wombats; I wish you could get more up close to the wombats though as it is pretty hard to see them

Free entrance zoo with some parks nearby. Very good spot to walk around with children in warm weather. The size is not so small but as it is free, it is recommended. You can park your car or using bus to come here. The animals is fun to watch.

A lovely little zoo with some great australian wildlife including the oldest captive wombat in the world!!! I visited here during the morning and it wasn't too busy but be prepared for it to get a little busier on the weekend. There is disinfectant spray at the entrance to prevent the spread of Corona virus. As of writing they are celebrating the birthday of their oldest wombat and there is a cute display in one of the buildings.

📄 Description of the area: ————————— 🐗 - Satsukiyama Zoo: There are also many facilities within the park such as a zoo, the Urban Greening Botanical Garden, a golf course, and Green Center, and many people gather here for leisure. The Satsukiyama Zoo is especially popular, with wombats and wallabies, and the admission is free. A cherry blossom festival is held on a weekend in early April every year in the park square and the zoo. In the summer, it serves as one of the venues of the Gangara Himatsuri, a festival that dates back to the Edo Period. 💵 - Price: Free. 🕒 - Hours: [9:15 - 16:45]. ————————— 🌳 🦙 🌳 Thanks For Watching 🙂!

A small zoo with about a dozen different types of animals. We walked from the train station and it was a bit of a hike but there looks like quite a bit of parking near the entrance if you're local or hired a car. Very popular with young families and there are little vending machines to buy food to feed the animals.

a small zoo but the animal in here was friendly. Most animals were out and walking around which is quite unique. Entrance were free so can’t say anything. Haha It’s will be good if you are living around here you must bring your kids. Good place to play around for kids. They have zoo and park next here.

Have a chance to see the wombat outside Tasmania! The zoo is free for admission and visitors can feed and have close contact with the animals in the zoo.

It is good but it is small. I think you just can see aliens 10 animals . You finish in 10 minutes. The zoo is free of charge.
