One of our must-visit list for Osaka. Nicknamed “Osaka’s kitchen” because both local homeowners and restaurant chefs get their supplies here, the market is famous for its fresh seafood. One reason for the market’s popularity is that many stalls will prepare, cook and serve their food to you right on the spot. This makes it an excellent venue for strolling, sampling, and snacking on a delicious variety of fresh market foods.

Agree with most of reviewers, a MUST visit even if you don’t eat anything here. Generally, it’s expensive, I guess it’s really for the tourists. But there were a couple of restaurants the prices are still quite decent. Gonna slowly pick. Would advise one NOT to one shot order and eat everything in the one restaurant. Because you can try crab, uni as well as the fatty tuna or sashimi from different stores! The seafood is really very fresh. Most of the restaurants offer green tea/water!

This place is a tourist trap and is filled with chinese tourists. There are little to no Japanese locals visiting here. Prices of food were considered higher than usual. The seafood offered by most vendors aren't even fresh (you need to be careful and check before you buy to see if it's fresh or frozen seafood). The vendors seem to be Chinese and can communicate in mandarin quite well. Overall a bit disappointed with this place. Will not visit again.

Lots of tourist and lots of tourist traps. Some things are really expensive like a medium sea urchin is 3000 yen. But the food is fresh and tasty. The fried crab stick is delicious. The curry rice is so good. The soft served melon is so good! The fruits are really fragrant and sweet but pricey.

Extremely diverse selection of fresh seafood, as well as other meats all for sale in close proximity. The freshly cooked scallops are a definite yes, with the chirashi bowl also a popular choice. Would recommend heading down early, about the time it opens because the crowds in the afternoon are rough and can make the experience less enjoyable.

So... much... food!!! If you're a seafood lover, this is the place to be! There's plenty of gigantic prawns, shellfish, lobsters and unagi here, along with Kobe beef skewers. Be prepared to pay a bit... we paid ~20,000¥ for our meal as we had the jumbo prawns + lobster + Kobe beef skewers + snow crab + scallops, but it was so worth it!! So fresh and tasty, not like the frozen seafood you get elsewhere.

A great market where you can enjoy a variety of food and drinks. Opens at 9am and wasn’t crowded at all. Maybe consider a brunch here to skip the lunch crowd.

Recommended to go if you are a tourist visiting Osaka Japan for the first time. It’s one of the famous market for tourist to go to try out their fresh seafood and all. However do not stay there for too long, else your pocket can really get burned. The prices over there are exorbitantly meant for tourist. However since it’s holiday for you and an experience for you to try out, do not think so much about the spending there since you maybe going there once cheers!

It was a sad state to witness on a Saturday morning to early noon. Some stores are still not functioning. Things are in quite bad shape. Those stalls that are open are really out to make tourist money. We had the Alaskan Crab and beef from Wagyu and Kobe. Later on we found better prices at the Dotonburi, Ebisu and Shinsaibashi. Just go look-see wi do. The stall holders need to be brought back to earth.

It’s a market that sells tuna, fruits, fresh juice, chestnut, sashimi etc. Sadly, the one halal stall that used to serve tempura is no longer there. We found a shop that serves fresh cut fruits like watermelon, rock melon and the fruits was sweet! It’s located towards the end of the market. If you buy apples, you can asked the shop people to cut it for you so that you can eat it straightaway!

When i visited this place, it was not that crowded. Place was easy to find. Lots of fresh seafood and fruits. All vendors are nice and helpful. If you find some of the vendors charged higher price, you can always walk couple more steps to other vendors nearby. The place was very clean. Absolutely love the place.

I went there in the afternoon for lunch on a weekday, very convenient to reach by train. There was no heavy crowd compared to the Shinsaibashi area, there are a lot of eateries, but most are quite pricey and perhaps overpriced. Location: good, easily accessible Food: Taste good, but overall the price on the higher side, perhaps overpriced

Crowded but still can enjoy seafood. Uni 2800-3000 yen, huge scallops around 2000, crabs legs from 5000 to 35000, fugu 1000-1500, salmon 1000. Lots of tuna, beef, shrimps and other seafood . It does feel too touristy and its not like "traditional " real wholesale seafood Market

This place deserves high praise for its abundance of incredibly fresh seafood, which can be grilled right in front of the guests. Every establishment here provides excellent service, and the wagyu barbecue is absolutely outstanding.

Nice place to have some sashimi and sushi. Recommend going about 10 am ortherwise there will be crowded. The food was quite expensive but good quality. Should survey the price first and choose the cheapest one.

Excellent market. So many options. So many different food to try. Unfortunately my stomach is not large enough for everything. The wagyu beef skewers are the best.

Not crowded on a Saturday 3pm. Easy to walk about. Many food and snacks can be purchased but we were too full to try. We bought soya drink, it's very thick and no sugar added. For those who drink healthy drinks can try. those who prefer sugary drinks may not like it. Suggest buy 1 cup and share around to have a taste first.

Came in expecting higher prices for tourists, and indeed, the seafood and Kobe beef options were not budget-friendly. But okay, decided to give it a try since I'm a tourist exploring Osaka for the first time. Worth noting that taste-wise varies among the stores and is subjective to individual preferences. Despite the cost, many places offered tables and chairs for a comfortable dining experience.

There is a nice tea shop with reasonable prices, and free tastings for each tea. Also, there are smaller shops for food near the end of the more popular places, and there is also a nice coffee shop with plenty of freshly roasted beans. There are tons of tour groups that mob the place, so the atmosphere isn’t so good. And definitely check and compare prices.

Kuromon Market is a must-visit destination for any food lover visiting Osaka. During my recent trip to the city, I had the pleasure of exploring this bustling market and I was blown away by the variety and quality of the offerings. The market is a feast for the senses, with colorful stalls teeming with fresh seafood, local produce, and delectable street food. From giant crabs to melt-in-your-mouth sushi, there is something to please every palate. It was an absolute delight to witness the skill and passion of the vendors as they prepared and presented their mouthwatering creations. In addition to the incredible food, the market also offers a glimpse into the vibrant local culture. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere creates a lively and energetic ambiance that is infectious. It was a joy to interact with the vendors, who were more than happy to share their knowledge about the products and offer recommendations. I highly recommend allocating ample time to explore Kuromon Market, as there is so much to see and sample. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or simply looking to indulge in a culinary adventure, this market is a true gem that should not be missed.

Went here before pandemic. Fun to look around and decent food stalls. Had humongous oyster, tuna sushi and beef skewers. They’re pricey but good to try a few things for fun.

We had the best time exploring Kuromon Ichiba Market for its incredible food stalls and Japanese souvenirs. We ordered an extra large shrimp and a king crab claw to dine-in at the bustling Kuromon Sanpei restaurant. You can either eat it as is or have it barbecued, and we chose the latter option. The texture of the prawn was quite firm, but taste was pretty standard. The king crab claw, however, was very meaty and slightly salty (like the sea). Highly recommend!

Went on a Sun morning. Was surprised it wasn’t that crowded. Great variety of fresh seafood options. Fruits were huge, fresh and reasonably priced. Most stores are small and squeezy. Be prepared to buy your food and stand at a corner to consume.

A must visit when in Osaka. Food may be priced higher and may not be the top notch choice with locals but it is still definitely a great place to sample different snacks all housed in one easy to navigate place. Definitely a good way to be introduced to Osaka and Japanese cuisine and a place not to be missed especially if you are a first time visitor. Easily accessible by subway. Good to reserve 2 hours to roam around and try different types of food.

Lots of seafood and most stalls sell the same thing, with the same price. Choose the stalls with fresher looking seafood. The prices are quite high, if you have been to Nishiki Market in Kyoto, this is more expensive and lesser variety.

We came before pandemic. The market was pretty incredible and it was quite big with a long alley as typical market in Japan. The store mostly sold various local produce, seafood, clams, fish, fruits, traditional snacks and confectionery, daily needs grocers etc. we tried, sashimi in makuroyagin, grilled scallops, strawberry mochi and white strawberry. It was fresh and delicious. Price is moderate. Easy access when you stay in Namba area.

We like this market. Lots of seafood sold such as eel, snow crab, puffer fish, scallops, oysters, sashimi, shrimp, kobe beef. Prices are reasonable, some stalls are cheaper. We went to Nishikawa which seem to be one of the more reasonable, with many choices and English speaking. The market is also quite crowded but not too bad.

Food is pretty good with lots of variety of seafood and steak but extremely over prices as it is a big tourist attraction. We spent $70 dollars on a rice bowl. My advice is to look around first then decide what to grab as each spot varies in quality and price.

My whole family was very impressed with this fish market. There are a various choice of foodie for you and it’s not that pricey compared to the outside restaurant also the food was very fresh and tasty here. I had a chance to tried a puffer fish here for the first time and it was incredibly good. More than recommended 😋

Photos taken way back in 2019, great fresh seafood market that also sells beef. A variety affordable yet delicious food. However some options were more expensive than others as this was a popular tourist hotspot. Walk around and take time exploring the food options. Also, if possible, use maps to navigate to naruto taiyaki nearby, it’s delicious and a must try for any tourist

Many seafood stalls cook fresh when you buy the dishes. Wide selection. The quality is not as expected. The grill ones take time in some weekend.

Definitely a spectacular street market with as much fresh seafood as you can imagine in a central location. Although it gets quite busy, the quality of everything as well as the friendliness of basically all vendors here still impressed me very much. All in all, if you are ever nearby the area, it's definitely worth checking out.

A must visit on your list even if you don’t eat anything. Can be a bit pricey but some are fairly priced. Huge variety of seafoods and foods to choose from! And just to enjoy looking at the produce from Japan was super fun here. Can be very crowded but it was a super fun experience 😇 We got a bunch of food here from pufferfish sashimi to japanese black beef. And also lil snacks in between. Everything was ofc super fresh and some things tasted better than others! It’s still worth a visit. more japan eats! go to my ig! @hangryhawlz (:

If you like street foods then come here. And make sure you come hungry. There are tons of stores selling seafood, meats, and fruits. Come early or you'll have a difficult time navigating due to the crowd.

A 1st time visit is okay but not worth going out of your way to getting there. However, I do not recommend eating at any of the stores. The crab is cooked with little care for the flavour or preservation of hydration of the meat while also being overpriced for the quality. I'm not sure if it was just the place we went to but the staff were rather rude.

Broad Street and it wasn't crowded on a Tuesday morning. There were a huge variety of stores, mainly seafood. The seafood was expensive about 2000¥ and above. There was a Japan Tax-Free shop with snacks to bring back, definitely recommend taking a look too. 👍

I liked this place better than Tsukiji in Tokyo. Lots of options and alot more interactive locals. Seafood was fresh, went food tripping in several stalls. Easily spend half day here, and nothing beats sake at 10am with sushi!

Popular public market street for seafood, meat, and more. It’s a good place to try different street foods. 👍 You can try crab legs, oysters, sea urchin, sushi, Kobe beef, seasonal fruits and more.

Busy street food market, all the stores start to close at 4-5 pm. It just so many type of seafood you can find in there and all traitors eat. I like everything except king crab legs it’s over price and salty. Otoro and uni is my favorite and they are absolutely cheaper than eating in the states. I tried Fuku(puffer fish) sashimi. It was great experience. I like this place

If you like to buy, eat or see fresh seafood or local food and yet at a more reasonable prices (than supermarkets), probably this is the place to come. There are many shops selling these foods throughout the market and you can even buy them and get the shop to cook for you instantly to eat on the spot! It's a good place to visit to get to learn and experience locals' lifestyle and culture and there were so much to see, shop, and eat. In our recent revisit to Osaka, we came back to this market! And it was around 5pm when we arrived and the market was still very crowded, although a number of shops had ceased operations for the day. Many locals, rushed here to get their groceries home while tourists came here to sightsee and shop. We bought quite a number of items here (fresh fruits and bento sets) and walked about 5mins to Nipponbashi metro station to take the train back to Umeda where our hotel was located. It was a fun and interesting shopping experience here!

Minus the crowd, enjoyed visiting this place. The melon cost around 250 yen, bought some fruits back too. Would also recommend the sweet potato chips that cost 500 yen, way better than I expected it to be. Overall, enjoyed the place greatly.

Went here before the pandemic. This market is always crowded with tourists and locals alike. Kuromon Ichiba Market is a traditional market in Osaka where you can find rows of stalls that sell fresh seafood, mouthwatering snacks, fruits, and also Japanese sweets. The market opens daily from 9am to 6 pm, but some shops closes on Sunday and Public Holidays. Conveniently located in Nippombashi area, you can reach it by taking the train and alight at Nippombashi Station.

Very crowded and touristy. Food is quite expensive and not that tasty, or maybe I'm not the seafood type. We waited for around an hour to get our seafood order from a store selling fresh shellfish. The environment was very cramped. The seafood didn't taste that fresh to me, it also lacked sophistication, all I could taste was the fishy flavour and not the sweetness or freshness from the seafood. The Oden store we tried was historic and highly recommended by YouTubers. Unfortunately the broth was overly sweet and not well balanced. The radish was very rooty and didn't take in the broth flavour. The other condiments were decent enough. Fruits were decent enough and more reasonably priced. Some ppl say that kurumon market is a tourist scam. Felt like it after coming here. Skip this place and find better seafood elsewhere.

We went here on seeing its recommendations by youtube channel. For the eel and scallop. Luckily we tried it here, as later we didn't have much time. Pricey, but okay for experiencing the taste. Eel i can related the taste to a thick skinned fish. Scallop, i wished it were in a different sauce, but i was also full from trying out various foods on our last day, so...
