I was very disappointed that one of the “rules” was no nudity. We do all of our hiking naked. We are a free, fun loving couple. We don’t let clothing or “rules” bring us down. Other than the no nudity suggestion, we loved the place. It was beautiful and we had a great time. ✌🏽

Nice place aside the fact I saw an old naked couple hiking. I wanted to see a panther, not a cougar. 10/10 would hike again.

I would have loved to see a panther but I have three fur babies and couldn’t leave them in the car.

I hike this short trail often. Great spot to introduce new folks to the beauty of Big Cypress wild areas. Short 1/3 mile hike on hard trail or longer 1 mile hike on rough trail. Be sure to check the bear claw marks on the bench under the gazebo. Look up in trees to see beautiful air plants and occasional orchids. Best in cooler months as there are way less bugs and the trail is usually dry (or mostly so). Bring plenty of bug spray, extra pair of dry shoes and expect to walk in very wet trails during rainy season. Water may be 2’ deep on long trail in summer, but it’s still a beautiful hike and it is the western Everglades after all.

This location is an exceptional out of the way place to enjoy a nice hike in a very scenic ecosystem. However, it can get very wet in the rainy season so dress appropriately. I also encounter new plant species and enjoy the arduous walk . A encountered a few raptures, snakes, deer and marsh rabbits. Overall a great experience.

Didn’t see any panthers, but saw signs they had been around. I will definitely go back!

A beautiful little escape from city noise. Very remote and self guided.

I was driving thru the refuge during late afternoon near the intersection of Route 29 & Oil Well Road. Out of nowhere, a panther jump out from the forest about 2 cars ahead of mine & crossed the road! I will find a chance to visit the trails in the near future.

A hidden gem with a scenic and challenging walk. I wish there were more places like this to balance the burgeoning development.

I did not see any Panthers but I got some real good pictures of 9 to 11 ft Gators in a real small canal

This National Wildlife Refuge is very spacious, lush, and gorgeous. There are two trails open to use. It's located off of I-75 in southwest Florida. Trails were dry. Go early in the day to avoid sun' steaming heat.

Just ok. Through the grassy areas somewhat scenic but not much to look at. boardwalk is super tiny - no wildlife. Good place to stretch your legs on the way but wouldn’t drive out here for a special trip

👍👍 I had planned a trip out into big cypress to finish off my 8yo daughters spring break strong. I had planned on 14 miles of amazing Florida wilderness and an incredible dad/daughter bonding trip. What I had not planned on was an incredible experience with a ranger at oasis visitor center. Athena Gonz...
