Lovers Key State Park is a really neat location with lots to do! We just got our annual park pass and decided to try this one out! They have an awesome shuttle to and from the beach. The beach views and sand are gorgeous! We did one of the walking trails which takes you through some jungle looking wilderness, past the butterfly gardens and next to a bunch of beautiful scenic waterways. I would highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area and have some time to explore! They have a cute gift shop, rentals, discovery center and much more for the whole family!

Beautiful state park with wonderful beaches between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Springs. There is plenty of parking for an entry fee of 8$ per car, which is very reasonable. We went there several times with our kids during our Florida holidays and it was always an experience. Even the little tram ride from the parking spot to the south beach is great for them. At the beach you have all facilities in place with restrooms, showers and picnic areas, as well as a little food truck. The beach itself is amazing with clear water, white sand and tons of shells. We will definitely come again ...

What a stunning knock dead gorgeous place. Beautiful beaches, estuaries, and Discovery Center. We first stopped at the Discovery Center to get the lay of the land, so to speak. We were met by Glenda, a docent who volunteers her time here. Very pleasant lady and very knowledgeable. She was able to answer all of our questions, and she pointed out things to do after leaving the Discovery Center. The Discovery Center is amazing. Very well put together, giving you an excellent overview of the biodiversity of the marine life and land loving creatures. There are a lot of interactive displays for kids of all ages. There is a telescope there where you can spy in on a nesting pair of Ospreys. We strongly recommend that you visit this place first. From there, we walked over and took the trolley down to the beach. The beach has been combed down to a depth of three feet to remove the hurricane derbis from hurricane Ian less than two years ago. Be careful if you go into the water. It is strongly recommended that you wear shoes in the water. Many hazards may still be on the ocean floor that can not be seen. There are restrooms near the beach area. There are lots of trails, and you are allowed to ride your bikes on these trails. Again, it is a must-see place during your travels to this area.

This is the best beach I've come across in the Cape Coral / Fort Myers area. Although I haven't been to every single one, this seems to be the best and amongst the most recommended. It's not a wide beach, but it's absolutely beautiful and the water is crystal clear. I was in heaven and didn't want to leave! If you take the shuttle from the lot (free, tip jar presented) you'll be at the part of the beach that has the food stand, umbrella and beach chair rentals. Otherwise you can just walk right on the beach past the trees. There's bathrooms and outdoor sand rinse spickets in both areas. If you are a healthy eater, bring food in a cooler. There's also things like kayak rentals at the store where the parking lot is. Parking is $8 per day unless you're solo, then it's $4. When I went in the water a morning I was there, a dolphin swam right past me in waist deep water, arms reach, and it was the highlight of my trip! 😃🐬 Also there's tons of small fish, and stingrays that you need to be careful not to step on. If you have goggles, snorkel gear, or an underwater camera, bring it! I can't wait to go back!

This has been one of my favorite finds in the FL West Coast. This is the perfect getaway if you’re into outdoors experiences and wanna do something a little different than the usual touristic activities. This park offers tram rides, kayak and bikes rentals, sugary sand beach with a lovely pavilion (available for weddings or any private event), a fishing pier, bike trails, a butterfly garden... a mean, there’s so much to do. Only $8 per car to enter the park, and there’s plenty of parking. They also offer beach wheelchairs in order to make the park available for everyone, you just need to ask for it to the rangers. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy this amazing park 👍🏻

We absolutely adore this state park. Even if there’s a lot of people, there’s still plenty of room for everybody. They have trams to take you to another area of the beach if you don’t want to walk. They have a few different areas with concessions and bathrooms. The water is absolutely beautiful, you’ll want to spend all day here! Just don’t forget your sunscreen.

Great State Park. Hiking trails that are wide and easy, very bike-able. Also kayak rentals, fishing and beach access with trolley option. Clean facilities and bathrooms everywhere. Great nature opportunities.

Great beach and many people visiting Ft. Meyers never make it here. This beach is hidden and you have to go over the bridge coming from Fort Meyers. Then you have to take a weird turn to get to the parking lot. You have to pay, it’s not free. The beach is pretty and there are a number of people fishing day and night at this spot or near by. It’s a hike to the nearest beach but you can go down further. It’s very pretty and there are several mangroves in the area. Some people are more adventurous where they go on a kayak in the mangroves near by or the coves. It’s not wilderness but use your common sense. If you swim keep in mind there are currents don’t underestimate the ocean.

Lovers Key is a beautiful area that isn't as crowded as some of the other area beaches. The beach is more narrow and has more shells scattered than Fort Myers, but it is far less touristy. You can take the tram from the parking area to the beach at no extra cost, or enjoy a short walk allow the nice pathways.

I haven’t been to that specific spot since hurricane Ian. But it’s was an absolutely stunning, special, place. And I’m sure they’ve done stuff with it since. But that beachwood……. Irreplaceable. I’ll share a photo of the beautiful beach and our Christmas “tree “ full of shells , sand dollars , wishes , people’s names , visitors and locals alike.

Lover’s Key is my favorite state park. When every other beach in town is packed, this hidden gem almost always has parking. The beach is just a short walk away, with a lot less people. There are several miles of scenic hiking/biking trails. The new Welcome and Discover Center will be open soon!

Picturesque beach is characterized by pristine, white sand. Access to the beach is provided via a tram service that operates every 20 minutes and is included in the $8 entrance fee. Ample parking is available, and the beach is not excessively crowded. For those who prefer not to bring their own seating, there is an option to rent chairs and umbrellas at a reasonable cost.

Great park with excellent trails through the mangroves. One of the better wildlife viewing areas we visited while in the area. Lots of birds. Saw a couple snakes. A bunch of lizards. And the endangered gopher tortoise! Wonderful education signs. It’s a great way to spend a morning. The trails weren’t busy but the beach and beach parking was very busy.

We really enjoyed our day at this park. We mostly did a beach day but also did some hiking on the trails. Note that after parking you take a trailer ride to the beach from the parking lot. This was running continuously all day and seemed to be back every 10-15 minutes or so. This worked out well. They had good bathroom facilities at both sides of the trailer ride (adjacent the parking lot, and at the beach), so this was nice too. There is a gift shop next to the main parking lot and it has some ice cream and drinks there too, plus lots of gift ideas. There is also food available at the beach. The beach was great for shells, we got some good ones! It was a red flag day so the water was rough, but we did walk along the shoreline and that was nice. Lots of birds around and the water was a pretty color here. 2+ miles of shore here so you can walk a long ways. We had no problems parking but got here around 10AM-ish, I'd imagine at later times after noon it gets much busier. When we were leaving the lot looked pretty full. Highly recommend this place.

Visited this state park to catch the sunset, and it was breathtaking. The beach is beautiful, and you have the option of taking a tram or a half-mile walk to reach it. Keep in mind that the park closes around 6 due to hurricane-related issues affecting the lighting. Overall, a serene and picturesque spot for nature lovers.

Must visit place in Bonita Springs. Beautiful beach with super white and soft sand with calm water waves. I would recommend to carry your beach umbrella and chairs if visiting in afternoon. Park has $6 fees per vehicle and has ample parking and free ride to beach from parking lot.

Service at the resort was excellent! Our room was clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with all appliances and dishes. They even had grills. The pool was refreshing and the views were absolutely stunning. Our kids had a great time playing under the waterfall and seeing the alligator in the pond as well as iguanas, birds and rabbit. Can't wait to come back!!!

Thoughtful, clean, gorgeous - everything you could want out of a beach day is available here. Rentals of kayaks, chairs, umbrellas, bikes, you can take tours, go fishing, hike around all the trails, build sand castles, go shelling, etc. There is so much to do here! I must say, I thought it was beautiful how handicapp friendly this beach is. They had public water wheel chairs available and everything had access or ramps of some kind for everyone to be able to enjoy and fully use the amenities. Great job to this park!

Such a beautiful beach and park to explore! It’s not crowded at all, the water is beautiful, and lots of wildlife to see (we saw a sea turtle!) The main beach is a little farther of a walk from the parking lot (10 min) but there’s a free tram that gets you close

Great park located conveniently near Naples, Bonita , Fort Myers and Estero. Plenty to do for all ages from hiking trails, the beach, kayaking, biking, boating and a beautiful beach. The park is huge and one of the best around. As a local real estate agent I love to come here in my free tome with my family to enjoy the beautiful weather of Southwest Florida. If you are local or just visiting the Naples area I highly recommend a visit to lovers key state park.

Most affordable option for beach access in the area. The public parking spots along Bonita Beach are usually crowded but those are free. $8/ car at Lovers Key for as long as you want to stay. Tram takes you right to the beach. Great little snack shop and souvenirs. Highly recommend.

I’ve been to several FLSP’s now and this may just be my favorite one so far. It was just beautiful, lots of mangroves and winding paths. There’s a gift shop and bathroom/ main area where you park, and they have a trolley out to the beach which is really nice because it’d be a pretty long walk otherwise. We spent most of our time on the beach, and even on a stormy day it was just stunning. There weren’t many waves and the water was crystal clear really far out so it made for a great day to find shells, and there was no shortage of shells to look at. I mean, in some areas they were literally just piled up like you would find snow piles in the north. Even found two whole, good-sized sand dollars! We walked all the way down to the end of the beach and back just looking around in the water and that was super fun and made the time fly by. At the end of the beach there’s some woody parts that are fun to look at and previous visitors have kind of decorated them with shells and I thought that was neat. I took a lot of pictures of the water because the colors were just break taking and so defined. You can also see Sanibel Island and the bridge over it from Lovers Key, just a lot of great views. There’s an option to rent kayaks and paddle boards and go along the mangroves which I’d like to come back and do at some point. They have bathrooms and rinse stations, and a small restaurant right on the beach as well, which a lot of SPs don’t and it’s nice to have everything you need yet it still feels mostly untouched by humans and it’s so quiet compared to other beaches. Love love love!!!

Saw my first manatee during our kayaking venture. Incredible. Went towards the end of the day (close at 5pm) so only used 2 hours of the normal 4 hours for 2 people kayak- $63- In Dec. Absolutely worth it!! Walked to beach after to check out and it was clean and beautiful! Lots of birds!!

Well, we didn't actually pay to enter the full park, but there's a 30 minute free parking observation pulloff right before the pay both that has manatees!!! Apparently they are somewhat residential... We looked all over the state, but since it's not really season for them until November, we hadn't seen any till lovers key. So that made our day.

Visited 3 times in August. Great park to play at the beach, relax, soak some sun, search for shells, and swim. Bathrooms were clean, loved the trolley ride to the beach and back to the parking lot. Very helpful staff, convenient beach chairs and umbrella rentals (delivered to your specific spot on the beach, and set up for you!). Snack shack in case you didn't bring drinks or food!! So far one of the spots we will be returning to in our next visit!!

Loved this park! It was a scorching hot day so walking any paths was out for us, but the beach was so calm and peaceful. Lots of shells here too. There is a tram that takes you to the beach or you can walk. Walk would take about 10 minutes at an average pace. It’s $7 to park for the day. You can pay with cash or using your phone.

Considering they’re still recovering from Hurricane Ian which left a lot of damage to the trees & vegetation we still enjoyed walking the trails with the natural beauty. Rode the tram to the beach which was crowded but had a beautiful view of the ocean. Visited the gift shop/museum where the volunteers/workers are very friendly & knowledgeable. Well worth your time to visit!

Was in this park for kayaking. The layout of the route is interesting. A one way to the end and back with a few switchbacks. Can be a little noisy from nearby traffic. I saw a bunch of birds but i know there were manatees and dolphins around.

Really nice park and everything around. Too bad there was red tide. Everybody cough. Too scary during covid-19 to develop cough. Seems like there are more days with red tide than without in South Florida. No matter if it is Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. Unless this change South Florida gonna have problem. I can't imagine how hard that has to be on residents. Having to breath that all day.

This place has it all from unending beaches great hikes. One of the really cool things about this park is the amount of seashells and other cool things that you can find. Also, because its so far from anywhere else it tends in my opinion to be one of the slower and least busy beaches and trails around.

The Lover’s Key State Park located between Estero and Bonita Springs. There is a small public beach you can go to. It’s accessible by boat or by car. Paid Parking is available. We did a quick stop on our way from the dolphin tour in Ft Meyers Beach just to touch a water and feel the sand. Bring you own chairs, food and drinks if you are planning to spend more time. Alcohol is not permitted and you can’t fish on the property. There are no bars or restaurants but you can enjoy the sun and pure white sand while watching boats go by.

  • 4/5 Shawn P. 3 years ago on Google
Lovers Key is a pleasant state park with several recreational opportunities. The beach is not scenic, but hosts a wide expanse of sugar sand and ocean access. We were there on a weekday in February and had no trouble finding a parking spot. There is a desk for renting canoes and kayaks if you wish to paddle or fish in the mangroves and people were reporting seeing manatees in the area. A sturdy fishing pier is also available. A tram will take you from the parking lot to the beach which is about 1000 feet away. There is a food truck stationed at the beach for hot dogs, burgers, nachos and non alcoholic beverages. Watch for gofer tortoises in the park. They are endangered and often seen in this habitat. Many shorebirds for birdwatching. If you drive north after your day, beware the severe road congestion at Ft. Myers Beach and plan to double your travel time.

This beach park is gorgeous. We had to park in the overflow lot and walk but it really wasn't that far. It is a busy beach but spacious. The walk to the beach itself was loaded with picturesque views of all the natural surroundings. My kids loved finding all the shells and we spotted quite a few living sand dollars in the shallow water of the shoreline. We also got surprised by a hermit crab while picking up shells lol! We had a great time. Pack a cooler, bring extra sunscreen, and plan to spend the day because you won't want to leave.

Beautiful state park best beaches ! They had enough parking and porta potty’s at the parking lot , there is a entry fee per car 8$ if it’s one person they charge 4$. We spent the whole afternoon there till sunset one of the prettiest sunsets . Water was so calm and there were lot of shells and birds. It was so much fun to watch these huge pelicans dive I. The water for fish so close to the shores . Highly recommend this beach.

Beautiful, powdery white sand beach. I’d recommend this as a nice day trip for people wanting to get out of the bustling surrounding cities (that seem to have endless traffic) for a breath of fresh air and nature. Keep in mind that it closes at sundown!! We saw dolphins about 200 feet off the beach!

  • 4/5 Laura W. 3 years ago on Google
Beautiful and serene, however unless you are a walker (I am, but husband has terrible knees and can't) you will need to take a trolley to beach. The trolley stops service by 4:45 pm, so no viewing sunsets. The trade off is the beach was very calming and quiet on our Friday afternoon. Looks like lots of other activities and we will definitely be back to explore. Our trolley driver was very friendly and welcoming. Might be overwhelming for families with lots of beach accouterments to pack.

Gorgeous Florida beach! We came in January so we didn't swim but it was beautiful to walk the beach looking for shells. A boardwalk separates you from the beach and it is quite a walk. There is a golf cart tram service but I'm not sure the cost. They had rentals there as well as trails. The location is also close to a neat dog beach down the road. We stayed at nearby Koreshan state park and it was a short drive away. I'd love to go back in the summer as gulf beaches have smaller waves then the East coast beaches.

Great state park the hikes are relaxing and easy. The beach is okay, there are better ones. The downside to visiting this park is the traffic you will endure getting away from Ft. MYERS. IF YOU HAPPEN TO LEAVE THIS PLACE AROUND 4-6 and are headed towards sanibel, just do your self a favor and go south and hit a highway to go back up north. It took me 2.5 hours to get from this state park to sanibel. The traffic is stop and roll the whole way.

Beach forever. Great for watching sunset. Ruined by LOUD music, but they were having a great time. Left right before sunset, so calm was restored in time.

Lots of open, soft, white sand beach. Not crowded. Not for swimming, but quiet and picturesque.

We just went for lunch but the restaurant was doing a kitchen change from breakfast to lunch. Not a big problem but we had to ask for napkins when our drinks arrived. When our food arrived we had to ask for utensils. Maybe we had someone who was a new employee

First real outing since moving here and we picked it because of the proximity to a store we were going to. We were not disappointed! The beach and trails were beautiful, the tram was a new experience, and we didn't get to try the restaurant on the beach but we are definitely coming back.

Very nice part of the Southwest coast. Huge State Park, good fishing, good hotels, and good restaurants close by! Clear blue water, warm breezes and palm tree shade! Since it's the Gulf of Mexico you don't have the huge waves you're getting the Atlantic, and it's like being on a huge warm lake. Great boating and boat and waverunner rentals close by. Sunsets were really something!

Always a great day! Tram driver was informative, bathrooms at parking lot were very clean. Bathrooms at beach were out of order which the driver made visitors aware before departing for beach.

Great state park with walking trails, clean easy walking beaches and a Discovery Center. Concession center offering food and kayak and standup board rentals. Opens at 8 am. Parking lot one was close to full on Saturday by 11 am.

A beautiful park with trails for hiking, a gift shop, restrooms, and tram to the beach. Once at the beach you'll find party lights, picnic tables, restrooms and a food truck type burger place. The tram provides an easy way to get a family and all their accouterments to and from the beach with ease. Also nice for those who find walking difficult. The tram ride is included with the price of entering the park. We were too late to see them but passengers on the tram with us had seen manatees and dolphins earlier that day. We paid $8 for a car with two passengers to drive into the park.

Very nice beach with lots of shells to collect. I picked up quite a few for my granddaughter. We rented a boat and enjoyed a scenic ride on the water to get here. Good location for relaxing and picnicking. Would love to come here again!

What a beautiful beach! Wow is all I can say! The boardwalk leading to the beach was just a short trip to reveal the most stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico. Can totally understand why they so aptly named it “lovers key”!
