Im really happy to see all the negative reviews. Stay away. I love this beach. So for all the nay sayers…if you don’t want to walk the trail during high tide, knee to thigh high water, don’t come. Don’t bring a wagon. Wear water shoes. The path isn’t for those that can’t walk steadily in muck at the front of the trail. If you want to keep your dog on a leash, don’t come. This is an OFF LEASH dog park. Do some homework on dog ‘packs’. You will find that leashed and unleashed dogs don’t mix. I have been coming to this park, weekly, for 5 years with 2 large dogs. The only ‘aggressive’ dogs are those that can’t run with the rest of them. The only trash I’ve seen is what disrespectful people leave behind. And if you lay a blanket or leave your bag on the ground, expect it to get pee’d on. This is a dog beach. If you want to lay out in the sun or let your kids play in the sand, find another beach. Dogs do poop n pee anywhere they want. Most people do pick up the big stuff. But in my opinion, it’s not a swimming or sunbathing spot…it’s a one of a kind beach for DOGS to run and play. And the size of the beach hinges on the tide. High tide, small beach. Low tide, big beach. It’s gotten pretty busy lately with those that don’t have dogs. And quite frankly, I think a dog should be required to enter this park. If you don’t have a dog, go find another beach. And if you have a pocket dog that can’t stand its ground, go early or risk run-ups by larger curious or hyper dogs that just want to sniff. Yelling at all of the other owners to grab their dogs doesn’t work. Find another beach. This happens to be my favorite spot for walking with my dogs.

I can't say enough wonderful things about the dog beach! It's truly a canine paradise, and I couldn't be happier with my experience there. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that this place was designed with both dogs and their owners in mind. The beach is spacious and clean, with soft sand that's perfect for digging and playing. There are plenty of shaded areas and benches for humans to relax while keeping an eye on their furry friends. The best part, of course, is the water. The dog-friendly section of the beach is right along the shore, allowing dogs to frolic in the waves to their heart's content. My pup had an absolute blast splashing around and making new friends with other dogs. It's heartwarming to see so many happy tails wagging in the water. The rules and regulations are well-enforced, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets, and I was pleased to see that the majority of visitors were diligent in this regard. The sense of community among dog owners here is fantastic. It's easy to strike up conversations with fellow pet lovers, share stories, and even arrange playdates for our four-legged companions. Overall, the dog beach is a gem for dog owners and their furry companions alike. It's a place where dogs can be dogs, and humans can bask in the joy of watching them have the time of their lives. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic outing with their canine companion. We will definitely be returning soon! 🐾🌊🐶

Love this place!! Wish I lived closer! My dog thoroughly enjoyed herself. We even saw dolphins 20 feet from us. The dog beach tends to be heavy with dog pee, but what can you expect at a dog beach. You can even paddle board around the canal. It's super pretty.

This is hands down our favorite beach in fort Myers/Bonita area. Dog friendly (obviously) you can pull up your boat/jet ski/paddle board. Everyone is super friendly and loves dogs and my dogs absolutely LOVE it here. Lots of parking just a short walk through the mangroves to get to the actual bay/beach area. We love it!

Few things to consider before coming: 1. Your dog’s condition. Are they healthy? Are they social? Expect most dogs to be off leash and running around; if that would make your dog uncomfortable, it’s not a good fit. 2. The tide. With this beach, the tide makes all the difference. Don’t bother coming at high tide - the water can reach the parking lot. 3. What kind of vibe are you going for? There’s a LOT of action at this park. If you love socializing with dog owners, being surrounded by pups, and swimming close to boats docked close-by, this is the spot for you. If you’re going for a chill, secluded vibe, this is not it. All in all, I personally enjoyed it but my family and their pup did not. Just know what you’re getting yourself into!

This place was magical. At first I was not sure I was at the right place because the signs were not visible after Ian. There was a trail that opened up to a stream. We hd to wade through the stream until we arrived at what was a beautiful lagoon. The water was clear, warm and perfectly still. There were plenty of Dogs with their families playing in the water and on the beach. There were beached and anchored boats in the lagoon, music playing, sun was shining and children and dogs playing happily. it truely was a wonderful day.

One of the few dog friendly beaches... Has a good amount of space with a few sandbars. The water peaceful, not to strong of currents so it's easy for your dog to move around the water.. good place bring your dog on a paddle board.. parking is also free which is a plus.. could be a little cleaner but overall a great place to get away and have a great beach day

Such a wonderful place! This is what dog heaven looks like! You can drive up on your boat with your pup or park and walk up. The walk is about 4 mins from parking lot to beach! You walk the trail through the mangroves and it opens up to massive beach! There is portable potties in parking lot area only. There is a small doggie shower near them too. If you don’t carry doggie bags for waste, grab one at entry as there are none on beach. There are also no trash cans down there which is silly on as people leave poop bags everywhere. So many dogs! So much space! Such a cool place!

Indy's first time at the beach and he caught zooms more times than I can count. This place is awesome because it has no waves (my dog is a scaredy cat - he hated when we visited the beaches). The dogs were all friendly and super playful - easily matching my dog's energy. Just beware - we found a HUGE dead bird in the brush that he was trying to "investigate" so while your pupp is off leash just watch where they wonder. It wasn't the CLEANEST spot but we had fun for 45 minutes so it was well worth the drive. Water is very shallow so that's also a plus!

Words cannot describe the joy that you have at this place with your animal. Your animal must be friendly and return to you if you let him off the leash. It is absolutely beautiful low tide is the best time to go so you can walk farther out but you have to make sure you watch the time cuz when the tide comes back in the water rises back up. Absolutely love this place and I highly recommend it

This is literally our home away from home! We bring out dogs (& kids) here every chance we get! It is the most laid back & chill beach experience ever. No stress at all with cumbersome loads of junk to tote back & forth…all you need is your family or friends & to let your dogs go be free to play & govern themselves for the day & all will be well!

Super easy access: either walk the longer windy trail off to the right side when entering or take the shortcut around by wading through the water. High tide is still easy to access, but with low tide you can walk across to the other beach more easily! Lots of dogs, lots of fun. Pick up your poop!!

A great place for dog lovers and families. The water is shallow and is perfect for your four legged friends. Dogs of all shapes and sizes can be found at the beach it is truly a site to see. The people are friendly and it's a great place to visit if you are visiting Naples or Bonita springs or a local resident. One of my favorite spots to brings my dogs with my kids on the weekends for some fun.

This beach was severely eroded by hurricane Ian about a year ago, however it’s one of the few places on the gulf coast that has been left unspoiled by over development and over run by tourists

Amazing beach where you and your dog can enjoy a nice day. All dogs are allowed off leash. The water off the beach is shallow for quite a ways out which is nice if your dog or you aren’t particularly confident. The lack of waves meant that my dog swam for the first time ever at this beach. There is parking for several cars just off the road at the entrance. I will note that the entrance area of often flooded so be prepared to wade or maybe even swim through the water.

By far one of the most beautiful dog beaches in America when the water is tropical colors. It's definitely worth checking out. You have to wade through a path of water off the parking lot to get to the beach, depending on low or high tide. This can be a problem if you arrive as one person, two small dogs who can't swim- someone has to help u carry one to get to the beach. There are mangroves, small trees, and bushes that provide shade. Best to go when it's not too busy because this park is not monitored and unfortunately, sometimes people bring dogs that are too wound up and somewhat aggressive. It's best to just keep a close eye on your pup to avoid this. There is also a rip tide on each side of the beach that you need to keep an eye on. People have drowned there, I've saved a dog from a dumb owner who didn't understand not to let the dog swim there. Swim in the center, shallow water. The waves a usually very low here, nice for the dogs and there is a good breeze. Boats like to come drop anchor, fish, and party. There are two porta-potty in the parking lot and a hose to spray your dogs off with before getting back in the car. Weekdays have less people/dogs, weekends are usually packed. Make sure to bring poop bags and pick up your trash. Have fun!

Beautiful beach in Estero Bay. I love taking my fur babies here. It's always a blast. Whether you boat or drive it's a scenic trip. There's lots of wildlife and it's very cool to see the dogs interacting to the surrounding. You can even swim across to Lover's Key if you put your mind to it. Highly recommend, just be sure to be prepared. Bring water for you and your dogs.

Great place. Only thing is some people bring some really aggressive dogs and get mad at you that your dog wants to play like come on.. but that's the people not the place. The dogs LOVE IT. We took 2 beach chairs, my dog had the time of her life. Tide rolls in and out fast so be ready for that! Enjoy your time though!! We went in Mid November. 80 degrees water was chilly. I must have been the only non local I had my shirt off and bathing suit on. Everyone else had long-sleeved shirts and shorts on. 😅

Most beautiful place we've been, and bringing the pups was a bonus. They thought they were in doggie heaven. Every day we were there, there were zero issues, just great dogs/owners all having a blast.

Dogs love it but you have to go as close to low tide as water rises and you have to wade up to your knees to get to beach as high tide approaches! They need a higher ground path especially for older people like me! Bring your own doggy bags, tons of fresh water, and umbrella for shade! Your car will be full of sand and smell like wet dog and beach forever after, but it's worth it!

Pretty sure this may be my favorite place on the planet. It's just beautiful and if you're a dog person you must come even if you don't have a dog. Only thing that I find upsetting is people who leave there dog poop bags seriously clean it up no one wants to smell it.

This dog beach is incredible!! You have to walk through a cut in the mangroves. But its worth it. Everyone that brings their dogs are super nice. The dogs are able to run off leash and play with each other in the water. Large to tiny dogs alike. You'll even enjoy it for the view and fishing!!

Crocodile sighting at Doggy Beach in Bonito Beach area. One 7' CROCODILE sighted May 1st around 5 pm. in low tide. It floated over from the island across the canal. Be careful. It was very interested in the dogs splashing around. People were floating on tubes and kick boards. Scary.

Great park and spot to hang out. Its a bit of a hike and at high tide there's 2 ft of water to we through to get there. Nice beach thats pretty isolated so dogs can play. Most people are pretty attentive and make sure dogs get along. Please clean up after your dog! There is a dog shower at the entrance and portapotties

Awesome place to take my kids and dog! When we went the tide was in so there wasn't much "beach" area, but 5he water was shallow pretty far out. Out a bit further, my husband managed to catch a couple fish, including a snapper! Great, great dog beach.

Well the first thing I can recommend is don’t go during high tide. You have to wade through a quite a bit of thigh high water to get to beach. But that’s our fault for not doing more research. But once we got to the beach it was great. Our dog is a puppy so she wasn’t too sure of herself and the water. Also scared by the other dogs. Beach was very clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful minus the one woman who was clearly disappointed we brought a pit bull (PUPPY) to the dog beach. Ignorant you know what. Not the beaches fault. We will return weekly to get her more used to swimming and socializing with other dogs. 👍🏼👍🏼

Great place to hang out for the day to bring your pups, coolers and to meet cool people! Occasionally when the tide is high it's a bit strange to walk through 3 feet of water right from the parking lot to get to the dog beach part but it's worth it. Water is really clear on the beach part and you can walk out almost 75 feet and still stand in the water. Awesome time!

Hands down the most fun we've had on our entire vacation!! White sand beaches, dogs galore, happy owners, dolphins-- what more could you ask for?! Atmosphere is amazing & dogs were all well behaved. We have 1 dog who has excellent recall, who we allowed off leash. I recommend keeping any dogs who may not come to a call on leash (as we did!). They have doggie showers, doggie bags,, porter potties for humans & so much room for dogs to run around! The water is shallow with sand bars throughout so even tiny pups can enjoy the water. So happy!

We brought our dog to Bonita Beach dog park and we loved it. The water was clear and clean and our little Bella met some wonderful dog friends. She is a tiny dog and we found a sand bar that was perfect for her. My only wish was that people would keep the trail clean that leads to the beach. I saw pet poop bags, and trash along the path.

Very hard to find. In google, several other dog unfriendly places come up when you put in Bonita Beach dog park. The signage is horrible. The state spent thousands on signage that says there are on-leash and off leash areas and then didn’t bother to label the on least areas. The walk towards the beach was practically impossible. Owners wirh leashed dogs glaring at you for having dogs off lease, slippery mud that isn’t walkable with sandals, water shoes, or any footwear at all as they’d get stuck in the mud. No place to sit. People without dogs everywhere. And then here in the comment people being abusive and saying stay away. It really is stereotypical Florida, with the worst people on the planet. Why would taxpayer dollars be spent on a bogus signage, but then not even invest in a proper entrance to this “beach?” Florida is the worst

A perfect beach for our beloved furry ones, free to play and swim. Just a small detail, the owners are not attentive to collecting the feces of the 4 little legs and you can find them where you step, in the same way others collect it and throw it away for the children. mangrove, and in front there is a deposit for waste.

It’s not the best place for small dogs. The larger dogs run in packs and run over over the small ones. Also…what’s up with the walking thru the water (knee high most times) to get to the park. Can’t the city build a park a dry walkway to get to it??

  • 5/5 Sally D. 1 year ago on Google
This was our first time visiting this beautiful beach and it was perfect! A short hike from the parking area to the beach (shoot for low tide as the path is under one to two feet of water at high tide) where you can plant yourself and let your socialized fur baby enjoy the freedom of being off leash.

Love this dog beach! My boyfriend and I bring our dog here quite often and we always have a great time. There is a variety of dogs- all breeds and all sizes. The only thing I wish they would do is add a little doggie poo station on the beach so people could and would be more willing to pickup their dogs poo... Or even a small fence to prevent dogs from wandering off into the bushes. Its a bit of a unpleasant walk getting to the beach, it would be nice if they had some sort of walkway but what can you do- it is free after all.

I personally Enjoyed my time there, but there was a few problems. Such as I didn’t know where I was going because the entrance to the park was completely flooded because of hurricane Ian I had to walk all through the flooded area to get to the beach. Other than that I had a blast!

  • 2/5 Lia M. 1 year ago on Google
The place itself is beautiful, the fact that our dog can enjoy the beach is amazing, but I wish people would pick up after their dogs, it was kinda nasty, I constantly had to watch where I stepped so that makes it difficult to enjoy....

Really awesome to see different dogs and let your pup run around while enjoying the beach. BEWARE though, some people bring dogs that SHOULD NOT be there. A german shepherd almost mauled my goldendoodle puppy after my dog ran near it’s owner. Don’t bring your dog if it’s extremely protective or not social, it’s that simple.
