👍👍 What a great place! We stopped on the way back to the highway from Marco Island. The volunteers, Beth and Orlando, were so great! Our kids are 5 and 7 and they loved learning about the marine animals. People often mention touch, tank, kids, great, trails, learning, center, Great, knowledgeable,

We love Rookery Bay! Have come here many times from when my kids were toddlers to age 12. Nature center is great to witness sea creatures up close, touch some, and learn about the environment. Hiking trails are nice and mostly shady.

In short: The touch tank isn’t really a touch tank. The butterfly exhibit had no butterflies. The walking path outside is unusable unless you’re willing to be eaten alive by mosquitoes. In long: We’re disappointed because the main reason we went here was so our kids could experience the touch tank. But the “touch tank” is actually more of a “no touch tank.” The volunteer that guides you is allowed to reach in the water to pick up and touch whatever, but you do not reach into the water. The volunteer will pick up different things and decide what you can and cannot touch. Our family was able to touch a snail and a sea urchin. The volunteer was able to pick up a starfish, but we could not touch it. The touch tank in our home town (in an inland state) is drastically better than this. The only thing we saw here that we hadn’t already seen at the beach was a horseshoe crab which was pretty cool.

Want to learn more about the local environment? This is the place to go! Three are trails, exhibits, an interesting movie about the preservation efforts, and even a butterfly garden. Very knowledgeable staff can answer questions and give more in-depth information. Good for kids of all ages.

We enjoyed this learning experience and our 4yo and twin 2yo’s were thoroughly entertained for the whole 2 hrs we spent here. We especially appreciated David and Orlando. David is fluent in ASL and was extremely helpful in assisting with one of our sons, who is deaf, explore the center. Orlando is very passionate about the nature and wildlife here and we appreciated everything he shared with us.

The people working there are very knowledgeable and friendly. There’s a big tank with a couple fish and a smaller version with shells etc. It’s very warm outside and the bugs/mosquitoes decimate you as you cross the bridge over the creek to do the trails, so make sure to wear long clothes and or repellent. It’s a nice space but there should be more activities and interactive areas.

Such a great place to visit with the kids or just adults for some great information on the animals in the area. The staff was beyond friendly and informative. It's not a big place as far as inside exhibits but well worth your time. Nice places to walk outside but hot and wet on the trails while we were there.

Great learning center for kids but my favorite was listening to the story telling of days gone by during the clam harvesting times!

Excellent place to bring young kids. It’s like a mini aquarium. Despite its small size it has a few touch tanks and a larger fish tank, along with staff who are knowledgeable and can help show you some things. There are also a few nature trails of 0.5 miles through the woods. Bring bug spray! The walking trail is a nice walk - not much wildlife, just the trail and mosquitos.

This is an amazing environmental learning center for both children and adults alike. I recently attended the Sea Turtle lunch presentation and learned so much about our incredible turtles surrounding FL. The dedicated efforts about protecting their nests until hatchery and research about environmental changes impacting habitat are highly admirable. In the learning center, the volunteers are passionate and very knowledgeable about the wide variety of creatures in the touch tanks. The upstairs area has local bird feather displays, skulls of different animals, and a reading corner for little ones. With the beautiful nature views up there, the only thing missing is a coffee bar! Hint Hint :)

👍👍 Very nice water park. If you want to swim in the deep pool or go down the water slide it's a great place to visit for the day. They have a wading area for the little ones! $1.50 admission. Shaded areas, showers, restrooms. They have a ice stand also.

😠 The city never should have built such an isolated park. There are some real safety concerns here. When I went yesterday, there were four guys lurking around the parking lot. They waited in the woods for a few minutes and then started following me as soon as I started down the trail. I realized I was...
