Beautiful place, about 1hr 20minutes by bus from suncheon train station. The 111 goes to here, about 45mins intervals, I have posted the schedule. The number 1 bus goes to the other temple on the other side. You can hike from one temple to the other too. The area has a beautiful temple and has a small entry fee to enter. Beautiful view and a wonder temple, u can also do a temple stay here too.

A large temple located at the foot of Jogyesan Mountain in Songgwang-myeon, Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do. It is one of the three major temples of the Jogye Order in Korea, and has many temples within its vast grounds. A thousand-year-old study that produced many famous monks!!! If you are coming to Suncheon or Beolgyo, I recommend you to stop by the nearby Seonamsa Temple.

Beautiful and famous Korean temple. i reached there in winter, the mountain behind the Sonkronsa is worth visiting. The iced river and gorgeous mountain view are definitely the reward to the tiring climbing.

Beautiful temple, beautiful scenery. A lovely loop walk! I really enjoyed seeing this temple, it was a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be! I loved the intricate details on each of the buildings. You can also do a Temple Stay here, and I think that's really cool! If you're down here from Pyeongtaek or Osan, I highly recommend seeing this place!

Even in the rain this place managed to leave an impression of awe and serenity. The mountains dipping into the clouds to add just a little mystique. Well worth visiting and an easy ride (bus 111) from Suncheon.

Visited Oct. 2nd, 2022. I loved the view, walk, forest, temple. You can buy good wodden scent cooking chopstick. I suggest you don't buy drinks from gift shop, not terrible but not good.

Songswang temple is one of three jewels buddhist temple in S.Korea. This temple is not looks so old as like other heritage temples, but has 1000 years of history. This temple is known as ‘sangha-buddhist monk’, because 16 grand master whose were teachers of kings were grew up here. Recently it’s known as filming location ‘헤어질 결심(Decision to leave). And many youngster are doing temples stay because they offer special private tea room in the accomondation.

I enjoyed a hike around the temple but the temple itself was a little dissapointing. There are so many new buildings, cars parked everywhere that the atmosphere is more of a "lived in quarters" than a Joseon era temple. I think for example Buseoksa Temple was better, but that's just my opinion.

One of the most famous buddist temples in Korea. The temple is known for its long history, and many well-known monks have come from this place. However, from a tourist point of view, there are not many things to see considering the time required and traffic inconveniences. Nevertheless, the temple can be an interesting place for people who have never been to asian buddist temples before.

Was there on a templestay. Experienced the sounding of the 4 treasures in temple prior to the morning and evening prayer sessions. The surroundings are wonderful for hikes and walks and scenery is spectacular. Hikes are not refommended for those with any walking issues, however small, as some places could be challenging to tackle head-on.

gorgeous temple, alot of others seem to be sort of tourist trappy or cheap but this is the real traditional experience. the buildings are beautiful the landscape is lovely. i went during the rainy season and it made for some lovely photos. just make sure you remain respectful and quiet during your visit. there are alot of beautiful water features and really lovely woods across from the temple grounds as well as some places to pray.

This might be one of the largest temples that I've been to in the southern area of South Korea. It was a very widespread area, so it was wonderful to take a stroll on a fall afternoon. There were lots of different areas to see, so I definitely recommend giving it a few hours at least. The temple itself, had beautiful colors, tropical trees, and wonderful Mountain View's! There's also a really cool area at the base of the temple, where you can eat at some of the local restaurants.

Great temple. A lot of walk until REAL entrance. Yangsan Tongdosa, Hapcheon Haeinsa and Suncheon Songgwangsa are three prestigious temples of Korea. Seonamsa is also popular in Suncheon.

My unforgettable memory of Songgwang sa temlpe I would like to share my experience of visiting temple called Songgwang sa. It’s located in the Jogye mountain, Suncheon, Jeollanam-do. It holds about eight thousands Buddhist cultural heritages. I learned in my history class that this temple is the birth place of the Jogye order, which is a sect of Buddhism as well as one of the three major temples. So it has great value of Korean history. Since it has been settled on the mountain. I could see a lot of trees and animals like a squirrel, a sparrow, and so on. I have been there three times. But every time I went there, I got diffrent impressions. when I visited it in spring, I felt alive from a nature flowers and trees. When I visited it in fall, I was overwhelmed by the autumn foliage and fallen leaves. Lastly, when I visited it in winter, I felt calm and relaxed because of snow and trees without leaves. There is admission fee. Grown ups cost 3,000won and students cost 2,500won to enter this site. But you can get a discount if you visit as a group tour. So, why don’t you visit Songgwang temple this week? You can not only take a rest and be refreshed here ,but also experience lots of Buddhism heritages. I strongly recommend you to visit Songgwang temple.
