The Happy Maki is my ULTIMATE festival snack, have seen them at loads of evens and I scoffed my weight in their plant-based sushi burritos the summer season just gone. When I realised they'd set up shop in my home town BTN I obv could not resist a visit. Honestly, these guys made it into my death row meal selection and me n my stomach will forever be indebted to u. Pictured: 🍙 HOISIN 'DUCK' Duck yes. Probably the one I've eaten the most because the flavour is just outrageous. The duck style jackfruit is delissshh. 🥦10/10 💸£6.50 🍙 CRISPY COD Probably one of the best versions of tofu fish alternatives EVER. Oh my cod right? With a proper skin, super crispy and flavoursome. The tartare sauce compliments it wonderfully, so creamy and just pukka tbh. 🥦10/10 💸£6.50 Lovely staff - can't recommend enough!

To be brutally honest, the sushi is a 4/5. But you can not disregard the whole ethos of this little gem of a sushi shop. They let you decide how much you pay for the sushi burritos with a portion of it going o charity. These are the sort of businesses I admire. Well done! - LL/OC

Found this gem by complete accident while waiting for our bus. The menu is totally vegan (which I am not) but really delicious. I have never had sushi as a wrap before but I will be going back. The price is also very reasonable for the size of the wrap.

The 'fully load' is a must try. Also, the cauliflower fires are so crispy. Highly recommend if you want some healthy and simple food.

We are not vegan, or even vegetarian, but I could live on this stuff. Incredible food and such great value. There are few places that are exceptional, but this is one of them. It's every weekend now. Simple as that, for brunch on the way into town at the weekend, it's the first stop. I hope it's here forever.

Really Happy Me/aki. This wholesome place is one of the reason I come back to Brighton every year in May (The Great Escape Festival being the main reason;). Their sushi burritos are delicious (my current fav is the Sweet Chili Chick £7.80). The concept of the restaurant (non-profit) and costs transparency are great too. It probably would be my favourite take-away on earth if they ingredients were local, seasonal and organic products (but I’m well aware that’s currently pretty hard to set up).

Gluten free paradise!!! A gluten free heaven, fabulous food with even greater customer service, with endless gluten free, vegan options it was a tough decision to pick a meal. The four salad sushi bowl was phenomenal. Would definitely recommend!!

The best sushi I've ever had, we went back the next day to try more flavours. If you're going with a friend I'd recommend sharing two between you so you can try the different options! My favourite is the caulipop 😍

Great food but both Brighton places closed on Sunday despite being able to order on Just Eat.

My favourite place for grab and go food. The flavour combos are inventive, they sounds as though they shouldn’t work as sushi but do (BLT!). All vegan and gluten free! Great company ethos and transparency too!

Had hair in my food twice here, ordered the sushi rolls and found in them BOTH times hair with the root part attached too 🤢. When I called up to complain, I just got an awkward “err, okay, sorry..?”. No refund, no offer of a new meal. Though to be fair, not up for a third hairy meal.

An amazing place to enjoy Vegan (sushi) Maki Roll!! A non-profit and vegan organisation, with delicious food! The staff was friendly and welcoming! Had a good experience! My partner and I, both order Fully Loaded Maki and it was really good! Would definitely visit again!

Simply revolutionary! Not from Brighton and Vegan options are everywhere to be seen - very exciting! But Happy Maki is on a different level. Fast service, wrapped Infront of you, mad healthy, awesome options (fully loaded was the fave and the cauliflower Yums!!) Needs to be bigger so more people can eat inside - portion sizes are good. Obviously it's not cheap but it's worth every single penny. Thank you. Can you franchise out to Midlands please?? We need some Happy Maki up here!!

An extremely cute sushi shop with nice staff and great food. The best part is that they let you choose how much you pay and everything goes to charity.

Happy Maki offers fabulous vegan sushi burritos, which are rolled fresh while you wait 🍙 I truly love this place! Always my favorite place to go to when I'm in Brighton <3

So I took my son and nephew here as they were not interested in an all day breakfast down the street. Went in and was greeted by a nice chap (didn't catch his name but was ginger with a beard and a big grin.) ordered three different sushi 'burritos' not had anything like this before and he cut them into three so we could all try some of each one. Shame there's no eating in or places out front but we found a spot on the beach and tried the food. It was wonderful, couldn't taste any 'VEGAN-Y' difference and it was just tasty wraps. I liked the food, I loved the Ethos of the place and although I paid a little over what the wraps cost I'd gladly pay it again. My two boys are Autistic and could not stop talking about it and actually had to walk back to the shop to tell the staff how amazing the food was and how cool the sushi chef was. 10/10 would recommend.

I bought few burritos for my lunch, and qas really excited, but the rice was completely row, bow of my burritos go to the bin. Really sad and waited money. Shame, because looks really yam. Never happened before

Delicious, so many options and the portions were huge. I had a "build your own" bowl and it was really yummy and there was so much I couldn't finish it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of space upstairs to sit and outside benches too. Their ethos is cute as well, lovely ethical choice in the lanes.

I went here a while ago and have been recommending it to people ever since. It's my favourite vegan place in the city and is in a lovely spot for a walk on the seafront. A great alternative for vegan people visiting Brighton who don't want to grab fish and chips or just sushi lovers in general.
