It was surreal. Having to visit w my grandsons one of whom is a descendant of the Rizal's (Paciano). Though very young (5y.o.) I want him to make a connection and appreciate his roots.

Can feel how they lived during the spanish era. Gives me the feels how they prepare food, dine, sleep, how they must have enjoyed playing around the house. Emotional...

This is the original house of Jose Rizal in his younger days. Authentic and well preserved. The whole compound where the house is located is quite big. Just wondering if the original is really this big???

Worth a visit with friends and family. Brings you back in time and allows you to understand how people (specially Dr. jose Rizal and his family) used to live and what they were using in their day to day lives. Expect some reading, analyzing and thinking. Don’t expect a lot of parking. The PLACE Finding place and driving there wasn’t too difficult. However, it would have helped if there were signs. I thought there would be parking somewhere close but I was told that I could just park on the street in front of the place. This got me a bit nervous but people and drivers there assured me that it is okay. If you accommodation isn’t too far, it might be better to go there via trike or jeep The place is next to 2 famous landmarks and the street can get pretty busy. It is not a big as I thought but it is a house after all. I didn’t notice any prominent souvenir shops. The experience Entrance is free so I am definitely happy! And because we went on a weekday, there were only a few visitors. I also thought that with a small entrance fee, maybe that would allow the place to improve a little bit. One reviewer of this place noted that we need to level up our museums and I would agree. People managing these tourist places need to go and visit other tourist places (in and outside of PH) to see what is possible. I found myself reading a lot of things and although it was alright, I also wanted some interaction - someone I can ask questions. A tour guide might help or a voice over. It was pretty interesting to see how small those beds were and that there were no cushions. I cant imagine how people would use those toilets and those things they have in the kitchen. I am pretty impressed with how they have kept the place tidy and looking good. Some ideas that might help: - Rent a costume appropriate for the era and dress up for photographs - Guided tour for a minimal fee or tip - Re-enactment or show at certain times of the day - entrance fee would help with this - Video starter to introduce the place

I was absolutely mesmerized by the works of art in the museum. There are different rooms which depict the architecture and lifestyle of the 18th century. There are enormous colourful canvas, amazing sculptures, exquisite silver and gold jewellery and even kings and queens´ garments

We enjoyed exploring the Museo ni Jose Rizal (Bahay ni Rizal). Entrance is free (donations are welcome and highly encouraged to maintain the museum). Friendly guides share interesting insights. Street parking available, especially on Sundays – maybe due to nearby church activities.

This is a free public museum of the Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal. The place is also Rizal's home until 1830. Theg built the house but the land is rented from the Dominicans. Most of the bedrooms and dining upstairs were maintained and preserved so a rope fence is in place to prevent things from being touched and damaged further. There are also lots of information about Rizal's life and family, including their family tree. Also many artifacts are in display that is related to Rizal's life during that time. A must visit for every Filipino. Small dogs can stay at the garden, but not allowed inside the building/houses/galleries.

Fond of old stuff? Visiting this place will take you back to memory lane. You'll see where Dr. Jose Rizal grew up and some of his and his family's belongings. At some point, you'll wonder how great it is to have a big family, living simple and disciplined. Take a look at the photos and be amazed 😉

A Timeless Visit on Rizal Day 🇵🇭 I had an amazing experience visiting Rizal Shrine on Rizal Day. The Rizal House looked splendid, adorned for the occasion. The refurbished street, reminiscent of Intramuros, with its classic tiled road, added a nostalgic charm to the surroundings. A perfect blend of history and aesthetics!

  • 4/5 Leo H. 1 year ago on Google
Price is free for something so historically important. There are items on display that were the possession of the Rizal family, including what their furniture might have been. The entrance at the ground floor houses most of the readings regarding the Rizals’ history. The upstairs is more of an exhibit. There is not much to see as it is just a house, but the museum is generally clean, and no chipped off paint. The view of Mt. Makiling is really good. Do not arrive by car as there are no or limited parking.

The Rizal Shrine in Calamba falls under the management and jurisdiction of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. The structure was reconstructed in the 1950s and has since been a staple for school field trips for grade school and high school children. Events are being held at the shrine every June 19th and December 30th of the year to commemorate both his birth and death anniversary respectively.

I love the idea that we have a shrine like this one for our national hero but I believe there is something else we can do to level up the quality of our museum... should be competitive internationally. The shrine/house has a big backyard and green shady trees.

A must-visit for every Filipino. But the house itself can do with more artifacts and audio-visual displays in order to better present the story of Rizal's life therein. And also the public toilets need water supply and the handwashing sinks need taller faucets in order to be functional and user-friendly.

Its good to see how they preserved Jose Rizal's clothes and hat with which he is known for in most of his photos. Maybe they can still improve the presentation by using projection videos of his works and publishings.

The place felt nostalgic & dreamlike. I only knew of facts about JPR from our history lectures. The landmark is very accessible. There's no entrance fee and it operates from Tues to Sun from 8 to 4. The registration takes a few clicks and the security personnel was accomodating. Great for families, students & ~ really it's for everyone! 😍🤩😀
