If
you’re
from
a
Punjabi
family
it
is
a
guarantee
that
you
will
have
relatives
in
foreign
countries.
With
time,
it
has
become
a
trend,
especially
among
younger
generations
to
go
and
settle
abroad
in
countries
like
Canada,
Australia
and
USA.
But
did
you
know
that
there
is
even
a
special Gurudwara that
can
confirm
your
trip
abroad!?
Yes,
we
are
telling
the
truth!
Gurudwara
Talhan
Sahib,
situated
in
Adampur,
a
small
town
near
Jalandhar,
Punjab
is
famous
for
making
sure
that
anyone
who
goes
and
donates
a
toy
airplane
there,
gets
their
visa
approved!
Talhan
Sahib,
originally
named
after
Shaheed
Baba
Nihal
Singh
Ji,
the
Gurudwara
is
150-years-old.
Owing
to
all
the
toy
planes,
it
is
also
called
‘Hawaijahaj
Gurudwara’
now!
Even
though
no
one
is
clear
on
how
this
belief
started,
the
management
there
has
clarified
that
they
don’t
believe
in
this
superstition,
but
how
can
they
stop
people?
Every
year
thousands
of
people
visit
the
Gurudwara
especially,
with
just
one
thought
in
mind,
i.e.
being
able
to
go
abroad.
This
also
serves
as
proof
of
the
Punjabis'
desperation
to
go
abroad
be
it
young
students
pursuing
education
and
a
better
future
ahead,
jobless
youth
or
even
elderly
parents
waiting
to
go
meet
their
children
who
are
settled
outside
India.
Moreover,
Talhan
lies
in
Punjab’s
Doaba
region,
also
called
the
NRI
belt
of
the
state.
