This is place is located 2kms away from Auroville visitors centre. We have to walk all the way in order to visit this place and when returning back bus facility is there and it's free of cost. One should be blessed to walk and experience the nature. Beautiful place and the globe is amazing ... Will be more happy if they allow inside the globe but they are not allowing it as of now The garden near the globe is huge and it's beautifully maintained No one should sleep 💤 near the globe it's a strict order and drinking water is available on the way.

If you need a break from your regular day to day tiring life, this is the place to rejuvenate your energy, soul searching and finding inner peace. You need to book a week before for inner chamber or petals for meditation. Otherwise impromptu you can get to the viewpoint with the pass, which can be issued from information center. The shuttle service can be availed from information center to reach to the place. You need to walk further for the view point.

Auroville Matrimandir is a true sanctuary for the soul! Stepping into this serene haven, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility that's hard to describe. The iconic golden globe, surrounded by lush greenery, creates an atmosphere of profound peace. The journey to reach the Matrimandir, with its winding pathways and shaded groves, adds to the anticipation and wonder. As you approach, the sheer beauty of the structure takes your breath away. The golden exterior shimmers in the sunlight, and it's like stepping into a dream. Inside, the meditation chamber is a haven of silence, providing a sacred space for introspection and contemplation. The radiant crystal in the center adds a touch of mystique, enhancing the overall spiritual ambiance. What struck me most was the universal message of unity and peace that Auroville Matrimandir embodies. It's not just a place, it's a symbol of humanity coming together in search of a higher consciousness. Whether you're a spiritual seeker or simply seeking a moment of calm, Auroville Matrimandir is a must visit. It left me feeling rejuvenated and connected to something greater than myself, a truly magical experience that lingers in the heart.

If you are visiting Pondicherry, you must visit this place. Away from noise and irritation of city this place offers various peaceful options for both individuals and family. If you are nature lover you should plan a longer visit and look at stay there. Great place with great feel. The walk to see the Matrimandir isn’t too long and is a pretty walk through the greenery. There is a free bus ride back for if one would rather not walk. Please note that you CAN'T enter Matrimandir without prior permission. At the visitor's center, there are lots of boutiques, art galleries that you can browse. There's even a cafe. The pathway is designed in such a manner that people don’t feel the scorching sun on their head. It is well covered with trees lined up on both side of the stretch providing us shade while walking. You have to set aside one whole day for Auroville and you can venture the town by cycle which are available for rent.

It's a great place to spend time with family ☺️ The Matrimandir is at the center of the community, and our visit was a most powerful experience, both a spiritual and architectural highlight. The serenity of the building and its surroundings is in stark contrast to the many glorious South Indian Hindu temples, which are colorful and filled with throngs of visitors, fire, music, chanting, incense, and thousands of images of the deities in various incarnations. The procession from the road to the inner chamber of the Matrimandir is beautifully orchestrated, as a preparation to quiet the mind for the meditation experience.

Matrimandir is pleasantly short and takes you through beautiful greenery. For those who prefer not to walk back, a free bus ride is available. However, please be aware that prior permission is mandatory to enter Matrimandir. At the visitor's center, you can explore numerous boutiques and art galleries, and there's even a cafe to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

It's a one time place to visit and if someone is visiting just to see the globe and explore the place, you may find it a waste of time. One has to walk a lot to reach the globe and no one is allowed to go near the globe without a pre booking session. People get to see the globe from around 500 meters away. The surroundings are full of lush greenery so that is one good thing about the place. It's hard to get something to eat or even drink once you enter the campus after taking the ticket so do carry a water bottle.

Auroville Matrimandir is a spiritual monument located in the city of Auroville in the Union Territory of Puducherry, India. It was designed by French architect Roger Anger and was built over a period of 37 years, from 1971 to 2008. The Matrimandir is considered the spiritual center of Auroville, a unique international community dedicated to the concept of human unity and the evolution of consciousness. The Matrimandir is a spherical structure, covered with golden discs and surrounded by twelve large petals that open outwards. The entire structure is set in a large area of gardens and trees, creating a serene and peaceful environment for visitors. The inner chamber of the Matrimandir houses a crystal globe, which represents the universal consciousness, and is lit by a beam of sunlight that passes through a small opening in the roof. Visitors to the Matrimandir are required to undergo a short orientation session before they are allowed to enter the inner chamber. Inside the chamber, visitors are encouraged to sit in silence and meditate, in order to experience a sense of inner peace and spiritual awakening. The Matrimandir is open to people of all faiths and beliefs, and is visited by thousands of people every year. In addition to the Matrimandir, the Auroville community also has several other spiritual centers, educational institutions, and community projects that focus on sustainable living and the development of human consciousness. The community is known for its unique blend of Indian and Western cultures, and attracts people from all over the world who are interested in spirituality, sustainability, and community living. Overall, the Auroville Matrimandir is a unique spiritual monument that reflects the ideals of the Auroville community, and is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in spirituality and the evolution of consciousness.

The day we visited the place we couldn't enter the Matrimandir due to maintenance and construction work going on. From the visitor information center you have to walk around 1 to 1.5 KM to reach the Matrimandir site. Mothers with baby and old age people can have free rides to cover this distance. There is free bus carrying back all people from site to information center. Sufficient parking for cars, buses and bikes Car parking cost Rs 100. Other than the parking there are no entry fee. Restrooms available inside the premise. 3-4 small sized food vendors were available nearby information center. Make sure to carry water bottle with you. Maybe next time I will see the full beauty and potential of this place.

This place offers a volunteering opportunity for three months where you can be there and teach the kids or take care of the sanctuary etc. There is a history of this mandir which is fascinating ! The globe is so peaceful for meditating and for those who are spiritually involved would find this place amazing !

Matrimandir, the spiritual and architectural centerpiece of Auroville, is often described as a serene and awe-inspiring structure. Visitors appreciate the golden exterior and the beautiful, tranquil surroundings. The inner chamber, with its crystal globe, offers a unique meditative experience. However, gaining access to the inner chamber requires booking in advance, which can be a drawback for spontaneous visitors. Some may find the spiritual aspect profound, while others might not connect with it. Despite mixed opinions, Matrimandir remains a symbol of Auroville's spiritual aspirations and a must-visit for those seeking a contemplative atmosphere.

Really a challenging task to get entry inside. With so many terms & conditions consider yourself very lucky if you get a chance to enter inside. From outside there is hardly anything to see apart from the golden globe that from very far which is not worth it at all. You have to book tickets online that too 1 week before and try your luck if you get entry inside. Also its closed on Tuesday & Sunday. Follow us for more…!

It's a beautiful and peaceful place. You can see people from different parts of the world. Some are visitors, and some are citizens of auroville. The place and culture are very attached to nature, with many different kinds of trees covering the whole. There are some buildings in this place and their architecture are very interesting like I said very connected to nature. Also you can buy things which are made from natural items. Overall, it's a nice place

This Place is huge. From parking you will have to walk around 100 m to reach Visitors information center. 1. You will get transport facility even while going if you are Old, with infants, or unable to walk. If you are fine prefer to walk it's amazing nature you are going to see and experience. 2. Garden and all the places are neatly maintained. 3. Globe is huge and due to other construction works going on they are not allowing inside currently. 4. Free bus facility for all to return, you can still walk if you like to. 5.Multiple stalls of food, ice creams and juices available. Taste was OK.

Our Auroville Matrimandir visit was unique. Booking tickets online 2-3 days prior is advised for entry, but we enjoyed the view from a distance without booking. A 3-4 km walk inside is needed, with transportation options available. Ensure comfort with walking and, in summer, carry an umbrella. Additional tips: 1. **Matrimandir Viewing Point:** Free passes at the Visitors Centre offer a vantage point view. 2. **Matrimandir Inner Chamber:** Open every morning, except Tuesday & Sunday. Book individually, reporting by 8.30 am. Enhance your visit with these insights and options.

Absolutely powerful spiritual and meditative space. Must get tickets to visit and meditate in the inner chamber while in Auroville. You MUST book a reservation in advance and the tickets are timed, otherwise they have strict restrictions for each time slot during the day. If you do not have a reservation you will not get in. Plan in advance. The Matrimandir, situated at the heart of town, is a symbol of spirituality and architectural beauty. Conceived by Mirra Alfassa, known as "The Mother," its construction began in 1971 and was completed in 2008. The Matrimandir is often referred to as the "Soul of Auroville." An out of this world structure designed by French architect Roger Anger. Its distinctive features includes a large golden sphere surrounded by twelve petals. The sphere represents the Divine Consciousness, while the petals symbolize human values. The entire complex is set amidst serene and manicured gardens, enhancing its meditative ambiance. Keep in mind there are no pictures allowed anywhere in the property and they have a bag / phone check-in area where you drop off your belongings before walking to the Matrimandir. Around the sphere, there are meditation rooms, completely silent, almost sound proof, each embodying a spiritual value, and illuminated with a unique color, Sincerity (Red), Humility (Blue), Gratitude (Green), Perseverance (Yellow), Courage (Orange), Equality (Indigo), Generosity (Violet), Peace (Gold), Joy (Rose Pink), Progress (Silver), Courage (Ruby Red), and Harmony (White) collectively they embody the essence of the spiritual journey and human unity within the Auroville community. The Inner Chamber, at the core of the sphere, is a place for silent concentration and contemplation. It houses low cushions, majestic columns and a crystal globe that receives and reflects sunlight, creating a radiant focal point; fostering an environment for inner exploration and self-discovery. Meditating silently in this frequency was a powerful connection to source.

There is no bus from parking to the view point of Matrimandir and it is a long walk of 1.5 kms. Return trip there is a bus provided but it gets jam packed. Best to avoid if coming with children below 10 years.

Mantri Mandir is an oasis of calmness and peace. The soft-spoken locals and the tranquil atmosphere provided a sense of relief. Despite a 3km walk to the Mandir, we couldn't approach it, which was disappointing. However, the free bus facilities for the return journey were a thoughtful touch. Don't miss the delightful ice cream and cheesecake, adding a sweet note to an overall peaceful experience.

Peaceful and green is what describes this space. You can walk around and admire the scenic beauty of all the trees & plants. There’s a certain quiet and harmonious vibe that blankets the space. As of the Matrimandir, you have to book a week in advance to see it up close. We had no prior knowledge of that so we did see it from afar but it was still an interesting piece of architecture. You can also walk around the silent room to get a guide about the history of Auroville and Aurobindo. Moreover, there are organic restaurants and shops that sell handmade items at a somewhat overpriced rate. But it’s nevertheless great for window-shopping or just giving yourself a treat.

My recent visit to Auroville's Matrimandir was a captivating experience. The architectural marvel and serene surroundings create a tranquil atmosphere. The inner chamber's meditation session was serene, allowing for introspection. The lush gardens and the golden sphere are visually stunning. However, obtaining entry passes can be a bit challenging, and visitors should plan accordingly. The Matrimandir stands as a symbol of spiritual unity and peaceful reflection, making it a must-visit for those seeking tranquility in Auroville.
