Few days back I visited this Mahatma Gandhiji's Birth Place (KIRTI MANDIR), Porbandar. Really an amazing place where the father of the nation was born. You saw some very rare pictures, some rich information and some iconic place that never seen or hear about the life of Mahatma Gandhi & Kasturbaa. Good souvenir shop where you buy some books about Gandhiji. One small CHARKHA as selfie point for tourists. There was must need a SKILLED GUIDE who told and given some information about this place. Overall very well maintained...

Porbandar Birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi Kirti Mandir Very quiet and clean place Where the memory of Gandhiji is remembered even today Every detail of Gandhiji's life has been preserved here. Gandhi Janmabhoomi has been declared a protected monument by the government. A beautiful photo gallery has been prepared here. In which photos and objects related to Gandhi's life have been preserved. The houses where Gandhiji was born and spent his childhood have been maintained in the same condition even today. The atmosphere here is pleasant. The thought of Mahatma Gandhi, the priest of Sathya Ahimsa, Vishwa Vibhuti, the father of the nation of India, is still felt here today.

Such a historical place and they have taken very good care of this place. Visit of this place is totally free of cost. And if you want to know more about Gandhi ji this is the place to visit at least once. Good experience. But due to having in between the city area parking space is not as per expectations. Otherwise good to go.

Birth place of Mahatma Gandhi and the memorial structure constructed here is good. The place has a small museum, books, drinking water, restroom facility. Not far from this place there is house of Kasturba ji. The road leading to this place is very congested. So you will have to park your vehicle someplace far and walk this road. Lots of school kids visit during weekdays and weekends.

A great place to visit with a lot of history. Considering its importance it could do with a bit if cleaning and maintenance. The approach road to the site is full of garbage, dirt, dogs and cows.

The birthplace of Gandhiji is definitely worth a visit. But few things to keep in mind. This place is in a very dense and crowded market place so parking is very tough to find and also very difficult to navigate here. Please plan in advance or taking a rickshaw is the best option here.

The birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi -such an important place but so disappointed to see that it's maintained so poorly. The museum is dark and dusty. There is a memorial to Kasturba Gandhi - the way to it is littered with garbage. Attached pictures will illustrate this. Staff were uninterested and on their phones The approach to the Mandir is through a congested locality with extremely narrow streets. Walking here is advisable. The approach roads are very very dirty and strewn with garbage. Can't help but recollect Gandhi's views on cleanliness. He would most certainly be distressed.

Kirti Mandir is not basically a temple of God as the name suggests but the place of birth of Mahatma Gandhi ji in Porbandar, Gujarat. I visited Kirti Mandir on 10-12-2023. This historic place is located in a very congested & dirty locality. There is no cleanliness at all. Apart from few historical photographs, pictures, writings etc, the main attraction of this place is the room where Gandhi ji was born. The toilets located within the premises for tourists are only worth their name. They were absolutely dirty, unusable, filthy and small. Very badly kept place. Needs tons of improvement.

Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar, a coastal town in the state of Gujarat, India on October 2, 1869. His birthplace is now a museum called the Kirti Mandir, which is dedicated to his life and work. The museum houses a collection of Gandhi's personal belongings, including his charkha (spinning wheel), his dhoti and kurta (traditional Indian clothing), and his sandals. It also has a library with books and articles about Gandhi and his philosophy of nonviolent resistance. The Kirti Mandir is a popular tourist destination, and it is also a place where many Indians come to pay their respects to Gandhi. The museum is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and admission is free. In addition to the Kirti Mandir, there are a number of other places in Porbandar that are associated with Gandhi's life. These include: The Sudama Mandir, where Gandhi's father was the chief priest. The Porbandar High School, where Gandhi received his early education. The Mahatma Gandhi Beach, where Gandhi used to spend time as a child. The Porbandar State Museum, which has a collection of artifacts related to Gandhi's life and work. Porbandar is a small town, but it has a rich history and culture. It is also a place where visitors can learn more about the life and work of one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Don't forget to Follow me. Jay Jagannath 🙏❤️

This is the designated birth place / house of Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi on 2nd October 1869. This is now being maintained by a Public Trust and funder by the Hon Government of India. Lot of memorabilia, books and antiques are kept on display here. The place is neat and clean. However this place haa accessibility issues. Not wheel chair friendly nor are there any Braille signs for visually impaired. The place is not crowded so you can spend as much time as you want. No entry fee. September to February is the best time to visit. Summer time will be too hot and the marble / polished stone tiles can slippery during monsoon.

Birth place of M.K.Gandhi Ji. A place now converted into a beautiful museum.Good for those who want to study and understand Gandhi and his principles.Rare photos of Gandhi Ji with National and International leaders have been displayed here.Photographs showing Gandhi Ji busy in different activities are also displayed. Belongings of Gandhi are also on display. On the first floor of the building his belongings have been kept in glass door almirahs although only few rooms of this floor are opened. The room where Gandhi was born has been kept open for visitors. It creates a sensation that this is the place where Gandhi Ji was born. Photography of the place is allowed. This place is located in a very busy and congested area of Porbandar and parking is not possible in and around the structure.Washrooms are in good condition and well maintained. Guides and volunteers have been employed to assist the visitors and to keep the things safe and secure.A must place to visit while in Porbandar .

Mahatma Gandhi's birthplace is called 'Kirti Mandir' and is situated in a very busy, narrow and congested road in Porbandar. The property has been taken over and maintained by archeological department. The place has been developed in to a tourist spot by conjoining a photo gallery and gift shop as a complex combining Gandhiji's birthplace. Gandhi's ancestral house was one of the biggest houses of his time and his parents used to be very rich. Exact birth place of Gandhiji has been marked by a 'swastik' sign inside his house and a full size portrait of Gandhiji is placed near the swastik mark. Entry is free to this house and photography is also allowed. The best way to go to this place is by an auto rickshaw since there is NO parking facility available. The paternal house of Kasturba Gandhi is also nearby Gandhiji's birth place and have been connected by a narrow walkway for the ease of tourists. The distance to Kasturba's house is hardly 200 meters through the walkway from Gandhiji's house. Kasturba's house is even bigger than Gandhiji's house in terms of number of rooms, kitchens and facilities of that time including an Indian toilet. Both the houses are nearly 200 year old.

You get some wonderful works of Mahatma Gandhi at a very discounted price from here. They do have a washroom and drinking water facility in the premises. One should visit this place for sure.

Kirti mandir is the birth home of Gandhiji, in porbandar, in the Indian state of Gujrat. The red swastik is the exact place, where the mother gave birth to her beloved son, who later on known as the Father of Nation. The kirti mandir, has now been converted into a small museum that displays items used by Gandhiji, along with some really old photographs. The museum houses a library that has books either written by Gandhiji or relating to his philosophies. Visitors can also enter the ancestral house of Gandhiji through the museum.

The place is well maintained from inside and all the information is provided perfectly. But the neighbouring area is hopeless and pathetic and there is horrible smell everywhere. As we were a group of 18 we had to use the auto rickshaw as tempo are not allowed inside. All in all nothing great to visit.
