Somasila Dam is located 80 kms away from Nellore. It is the main lifeline of water to chennai city. It's capacity is 78 TMCs. This water is used for irrigation in Nellore district and also part of Chennai. As on 26.09.2020 this dam is of full capacity and 3 gates were lifted up and releasing water. One can experience pleasant atmosphere and calm nature during this season.

One of the best tourist attractions in Nellore district, such a wonderful place with beautiful sceneries and breathtaking views of Somasila Reservoir. Wish Govt have taken much care. Totally a place where can find some peace and worth your valuable time.

I visited this place on Vijaya Dasami . Very nice place for photography.In rainy season we can expect plenty of water 💦💦 in this Dam.When I was there only one gate is opened but with that gate only so much water is going.

Nicest place for a day trip from Nellore. Nothing fancy and the road near the dam is in a sad state. Definitely a great photo point especially in front of the dam.

The catchment area of this dam is beautiful with ranges of mountains touching the water.The view of river Penna is amazing from the top of the dam.The roads are good except those near the dam on both sides.
