    The Nagaon Kala Mandir, though established in 1956, has a long history of more than a hundred years. Sirastadar Rabilal Bhuyan (father of well-known scholar Dr SK Bhuyan) started Durga Puja in the same place, where the Nagaon Kala Mandir now stands, 112 years ago. Later, an organisation christened as Fouzdaripatty socio-cultural organisation was formed, where doyen of Assam politics Matiram Bora, freedom fighter Mahi Chandra Bora, devoted lover of the country Radhika Mohan Goswami, former minister Mahendra Nath Saikia, social worker Bimala Bora and others rooted the seeds of the Nagaon Kala Mandir.
