This is one of the oldest churches. There are two church buildings, the old church is 300 year old and the new one is 15 years old. The church premises is huge and very well maintained. There is big parking space in the premises. This place has a beautiful architecture. Had a very peaceful experience here.

I recently visited this church and it’s massive in area and was pleasantly surprised by how peaceful and quiet it was, even during the week. The church was located near Marari beach, but the expansive size of the building and the surrounding grounds meant that it was never too crowded or noisy. Its a perfect place to sit and reflect, with plenty of quiet corners and peaceful spaces to choose from. The church itself was also very well-maintained and clean, with comfortable seating and beautiful architectural features. One of the things I appreciated most about this church was that it not crowded. While I'm sure it can get quite busy during major holidays, I found it to be a refreshing change from the more crowded and noisy churches I've visited in the past. Overall, I would highly recommend this church to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and find a little bit of tranquility.

St. Andrew's Basilica, Arthunkal is one of the famous pilgrim centres in South India. Though the Church is named after St. Andrew the Apostle, it is the feast of St. Sebastian that has brought fame to Arthunkal. The Christian presence in Arthunkal dates back to a very early period, to 7th Century or earlier. After the arrival of the Portuguese in Kerala Jesuit missionaries turned their attention to Arthunkal. They under¬took missionary work in Arthunkal from 1530 onwards. As there was a ban on Christian conversion till 1560 per mission to put up churches was hard to obtain. When Fr. Gasper Pious s was appointed the first Vicar of Arthunkal he managed to get permission to construct a Church.

It was by chance that I got to be in Cherthala and also visit the Basilica at Arthunkal. It's a marvelous piece of architecture, both the old and the new church. The new church faces the beach which is a minute drive or walk. On the way to the beach you'll find the police station also. Words aren't enough to express the divine presence one feels inside the church. There are a lot of tableaus around the church depicting the various events in the Bible. There's ample parking outside and a few stores to buy candles, rosary beads, Bibles etc. There's space to burn and offer the candles. Whether you're a believer or not, it's a must visit place in Cherthala.

One of the famous pilgrim centres in Alappuzha district . The place is so calm and quiet with lots of space to roam around. The architecture is quite different from the usual church. The church and surroundings are very well and neatly maintained. During weekdays there might be security to provide information on church history.

If you're going to visit, make sure to visit all the churches and statues in and around the main church. You'll find hidden meanings or stories behind those sculptures and also the old church, it was old but still. The structure said a lot about how the prayers and masses were conducted there. I would recommend visiting atleast once...

In my view this is the best church that I have seen in Kerala......It's a bit distance from the Alleppey proper but worth visiting. In my views THE BEST in terms of aesthetics...But the Golden Church in Kochi near Lulu Mall is the best in terms of Grandeur

An ancient church with amazing architecture and ambience. Have a big history associated with the church. It's believed that the old church is built on 16th century 1524 to be exact. Old church is just backside of the new Church. Have mostly crowded as the place is attracted by tourists as well as devotees. Have ample parking space for all vehicles.

A 16th century church where people from all walks of life throng. A gothic style Basilica you see first is a later addition. The old church is behind it abd very well kept. You see the typical old style altar adornment here.
