A beautiful museum building nestled amid pristine manicured lawns in full bloom and huge conifers standing like tall sentinels! The place offers a rich collection of weapons, uniforms, war history, dioramas and flags. The cafe on the site offers refreshments . Do saunter in the tranquil gardens surrounding the place to get soaked in the beauty of the wilderness around. It's an army site so do bring your identification with you.

Army Heritage Museum Annandale. One of the most sought after places to visit in Shimla, this place is dedicated to the Indian Army and has all the collectibles that take you back to 2500 BC. At this museum, you will also find the landmarks of the 1971 battle and Kargil war. The feeling of being Indian is still ALIVE here. Tourists from all around the world prefer to visit this museum at least once in a lifetime to take a glance at the personalities of Indian warriors. There is also a parade ground and a greenhouse for nature lovers. There is no entry fee to visit the Annandale Army Heritage Museum in Shimla. It is open from 10 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm every day except on Mondays.

Army Heritage Museum in Shimla is good place to visit (Annadale). No Entry fees needed, but need a valid ID proof to enter in Museum. Museum is cover with old heritage things like ( Guns, Tank, Medals etc). And some famous personality Statues. It's opening timing is 10 Am and closing 5 Pm. And near this Heritage Museum there is beautiful (Golf Ground). In which first Durand tournament cup (Football) was held in 1888 in this ground.

Army Heritage Museum is also known as Annandale. Don't miss this place during your visit to shimla. This museum is home to a variety of military relics, including old and modern weapons, uniforms, flags, and armoury. It also offers to witness the virtual reality tour of the battle of Tololing and Longewala, which is very unique. Also visit the catus museum and enjoy golf. Great place to learn about our country's defence and military history. Detailed information about the ranks, medals, badges, uniforms, weapons, flags and various instruments that are part of Indian army. Not a popular place in shimla but a must visit place specially with kids. Lot to learn here and be proud of for all indians.

Nestled amidst towering snow-clad mountains, deodar trees, lush-greenery and huge lawns with Annandale at its backdrop, the Army Heritage Museum is one of the astonishing museums of its kind in India. It is a hidden gem in forests and has become a famous holiday spot of Shimla tour. Positioned at an altitude of 6,117 feet above sea level, the museum is home to a collection of modern and traditional weapons, uniforms, flags, armoury and lots of other military items. One of the most sought after places to visit in Shimla, this place is dedicated to the Indian Army and has all the collectibles that take you back to 2500 BC. At this museum, you will also find the landmarks of the 1971 battle and Kargil war. The feeling of being Indian is still ALIVE here. There is no entry fee to visit the Annandale Army Heritage Museum in Shimla. It is open from 10 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm every day except on Mondays. Located at a distance of only 5 km from The Ridge in Shimla, Annandale Army Heritage Museum provides several options to reach your destination. Choose to walk on foot if you want to enjoy the wonderful landscapes around or simply look for a private vehicle. There is a local bus service available that takes you directly from Shimla Bus Stand to the museum in every one hour. You can also opt for a shared taxi, operated by HPTDC department, for the convenience for tourists. The bus stand is only 2.7 km from the museum. Other than that, those who are coming from Shimla Railway Station can enjoy the auto-rickshaw ride to reach Army Heritage Museum, as it is only 2 km away from Shimla Railway Station.

If you’re in Shimla and have a fairly easy day, then you need to either walk down or drive down to this museum. It’s filled with so much of history and legacy that you’ll have goosebumps moving from room to room. There’s so much you can learn about the Indian Army and about all the wars that we’ve fought. You will learn about all the awards, the martyrs, the heroes of each wars, and above all what an amazing job the Army is doing to ensure our safety. Trust me when I say this that it’s not a quick museum tour, you’ve to spend a lot of time in each of the room, be it the flag room, the awards room, the artillery room, or the uniform room, there’s so much to read, learn, and of course take pictures of.

Absolutely loved visiting the Army Museum in Annadale. We trekked down from the Kali Bari temple for about an hour (it is a bit hectic but totally worth it for the views), and returned to the Mall Road lift by an Ola Cab! (pickup right in front of the musuem gate). Google still says that it temporarily closed because of covid but it is OPEN as of 28 March 2022. Note that the army museum remains closed on Monday.

Always Great to know about the ancient things any day and visit here was one such, had a great time apart from enjoying old information by relaxing at the ground side and leaving off after having a few snacks at the eatery located near the ground only.

This is an amazing place you must include in your Shimla Itinerary. The Museum Narrates Story of warfare and how on many instances Indian forces have proved their excellence in it. It displays weapons, tools, uniforms. It celebrates brave heroes. The place make you feel amazed as well as proud. It does have beautiful garden landscape, a glass house and children play area. You easily spend good 2-3 hrs here.

An heartwarming, inspiring, and eye-opening place that describes the whys, hows, whats, and wheres of the Indian military. The major coverage is on education of the visitors so you'd find many writeups to read, artefacts (flags, logos, medals, uniforms, etc) to see, historical records to appreciate, and lots of videos playing on TV screens to watch. It is a must go place for every Indian! Being maintained by the uniformed folks, the place is spotlessly clean, landscaping is beautiful, and all amenities are in place. The cafe offers good snacks at a reasonable price. The toilets are very clean. The lawns, statues, etc. are beautifully maintained. Read to know more about the historical battles the army fought in the various wars that India has been a part of. The help army provides during peaceful times is also well documented. Indian military's contribution to the UN peace-keeping missions is also given decent coverage. Photography is allowed so carry a good camera. I'd suggest giving this place a full day. If in a rush, do allocate at least half a day.

We have visited this place, and it feels amazing with the views and atmosphere. There are about three to four rooms in the museum of Indian forces, their style, uniforms, arms, and many more. There is a shop where you may get some items that belong to the army as tokens. There is one small botanical garden with various plants.

The museum is overall great. Just that it's too much off the city and transportation is less in that area. Either take a cab and pay them 400-500 for those 2-3 kms or wait for the HRTC bus that arrives at 1-2 hrs gap here. As a museum the place is nice and explains vast history of Indian army ranging from pre-independence periods till date .
