A place where my friends feel in to silent mode, never discussed what's next? how's life? Everyone busy in finishing the plate served with cleanup, that clean that even Gandhi would be surprised! Many a times we felt we should go and kiss those chef hands for sharing this meal in such passionate deliciousness. Thr usual review of ambiance, price, menu, you'll sure find in other reviews.. It's just my way saying you better don't screw your chance of not having food here. This would become my ritual to visit this temple whenever i am in goa.

Exceptional food. Exceptional service. We waited for 30 minutes for our lunch and each minute was worth waiting for as the food was just fantastic. If you are in Goa and want to have good local flavours it's the place were you must visit. Try Bangada Fry in banana leaves, Prawns Fry & special fish thali. This place was strongly recommended by someone local and it didn't disappoint us.

Authentic Goan Food! The Goan Thali was yummy. The Malwani prawn gravy was the best!!! It was delicious and a must try. The famous Goan Serradura was the cherry on the top! Kokni Kanteen is a small yet famous place in Panaji. The place is cutely organised and they are full during lunch hours. We had to wait for 15 minutes to get a table, but it was totally worth it!!

Definitely not to be missed experience in Goa. The food and drinks were both really good. Well cooked, well served and tasted absolutely amazing. We had veg thali and tried all the desserts.

A long queue for wait. After 1.5 hour of wait finally got a table. They had the special bappa thali, which had most sea food variety. Undoubtedly the food was very delicious. The wait was paid off. The cocum mojito was yummy. Anyone visiting Panjim do not miss to have food here.

Discovered a renowned eatery in Panjim, offering an authentic Goan thali and a variety of Goan dishes. Despite its small size, the place is clean with a lively ambiance. The Goan thali is a feast with a variety of dry seafood dishes, two fish curries, fried fish, and accompaniments paired with Goan red rice. The menu also boasts a range of fresh seafood options. Be prepared for a bit of a wait during peak lunch/dinner hours – a testament to its popularity!

Now this was on my list since long and everytime I used to miss.. this time I made sure to keep it uptick . And I travelled all the way from South goa skiping my lunch at Taj to be here .. and this was worth all the effort.. My wife who is ardent vegetarian tried her hand on fish just for the reason the appreciation she herd of the place. I must say it was one of best food I had in Goa . Especially the Rawa fry fish and the thali . Also I loved the crab .

Great food taste. Thali not on menu but popular. Everything except the wait is good about the place. Ac, bar, service all super. Prince the Manager realised our senior citizen status and gave us table in priority. Washrooms are good. Bit congested tables. No prior reservation of tables taken.

Kokni Canteen in Goa serves up delicious authentic Kokni cuisine. The flavors are bold, but takes time to adjust to outsiders. the setup and the ambiance welcoming takes an extra star. Must-visit for foodies seeking local culinary delights.

All the fish lovers, Guys please do not miss this place. And trust me once you go here, I am sure next time you are in Goa you will be definitely visiting KKG. Their Prawns Rawa fry is heavenly, so is the Surmai Rawa fry. If you are up for something different go for Goan Chicken chilly. It’s unique to Kokani Kanteen. Kokum Soda drink was really refreshing if you just walked in from the sun, nothing like it. Rest assured, Thalis will always be a safezone if you are up for a wholesome meal. And to end it all, you should try their dessert on the menu called ‘Goa’s best Ceradura’.

I didn’t really understand the hype for this restaurant. Everything I tried was below average, calamari , chicken , King fish masala everything had same base ,they are selling more onions than the fish, chicken or paneer. the food was so smelly it wasn’t edible. If there was something worth eating it was biriyani (Again not so great) . Thali was okay. I had more expectations seeing reviews.

Came here for the famous fish thali and was satisfied to the core. But was expecting prawns curry instead of kingfish curry but no matter taste was great. Butter garlic prawns were yum. Goan chicken chilly spicy but tasty. Easy on the pocket but certain seafood dishes are APS. Overall try the place. Come early because it's a long wait if you reach late. People queue up for a table. Place is quite small. Hopefully they expand some day.

The best Goan thali experience ever. The food served is very delicious and pricing is reasonable. The place is crowded and you need to wait a minimum 30 mins to get your seats and they manage the queue using a token service. Service was good, but the restaurant is very small. You will find parking in the nearby streets. Highly recommended

Nestled in the commercial area of Panjim that is at a walkable distance from Fontainhas, this place offers a great variety of traditional Konkan and Goan cuisine that is lip-smacking delicious with authentic flavours. We tried Xacuti, Manzani, Rava Fry, Seradurah and Veg Thali here at three different occasions as we found this place to be really good. The staff is courteous and friendly and their service was fast. We didn’t face any waiting time except on one day when we went for Lunch during a weekend as we visited it during Monsoon. I would highly recommend this place for Lunch or Dinner options if you are in Panjim. Please note that they don’t serve Thalis in Dinner and they close by 3 pm for Lunch.

For an authentic Goanese Konkani culinary experience, this establishment is a must-visit in Goa. Their extensive fish menu boasts a variety of delights, including rawa fry of Surmai, tisrya, and prawns, all cooked to perfection. The prawns, in particular, stood out for their tender and fresh texture, a refreshing departure from the overcooked and rubbery version often found elsewhere. Accompanied by flavorful solkadhi, rice, and the delightful Portuguese dessert serradura, the meal was truly exceptional. Despite a minor billing mishap (quickly rectified by the apologetic staff), I award this place 5 stars across the board. However will take one away for the billing error. Its cozy popularity means waiting in line is likely, but trust me, it's well worth it. I'll return every time I'm in Goa and enthusiastically recommend you do the same!

One of the best place to have a proper thali! I loved the prawns curry, kokam kadi and the best - Ceradura. You must try this sweet here. Luckily we didn't had to wait much, otherwise you have to wait long for a seat and I'm sure it's a worth waiting...The staff is proper and polite.

The hospitality & Decor is really great! I went in with a very cranky infant and the wait staff were very helpful! Butter garlic prawns and fish tasted very good, but the biriyani was average to my taste! However it is on the pricier side I

This place is pretty well known for their thali so I decided to have one. In my opinion, it wasn’t so wow but, pretty decent. Their bombay ducks and lepo was coated with way too much rawa which took away the taste of the fish, but the fish was fresh. Service and ambience was fine. Always overcrowded.

Went on a weekday for lunch. Entered before 12.30pm, so as to not have to queue. This place serves authentic Goan cuisine. I'm a fairly regular here, and usually have a great experience. However based on the not-so-good experience last visit, informed the Steward in advance, not to over(deep) fry our snacks/food. Lest, to cater to rush, oil is overheated, and fish items get overfried. We ordered prawn dangar (cutlet), Bombay duck & velho (masala rava fried), mackerel reshado fried. Parcel was Crab sukha. Special fish thali available only on Sundays. Desert: Pos (sweet dish of first milk of cow) Food was great. Good overall experience. Service abit absent minded, due to rush. Fairly priced. Restaurant is limited covers & gets full soon, so go early, or wait in queue.

I would have probably rated them higher if I ordered something other than the king fish thali. All the dishes in the plate were very tasty except the yellow curry (unexpectedly bitter for my taste buds. I never leave food for wastage but did it after many years.) Looks like others who order more a la carte items had better experience so don't judge the place by my less than perfect rating. PS: hard to find parking in one way narrow street. This guy's car was booted 😬

Authentic Saraswat style Goan food. Very crowded, worth the waiting. The place is small with rustic interior and displaying the typical Goan style and culture. Food was very taste and mouth watering. We tried the veg. wagi kappa, it was crispy and gave the feeling of eating fish. Prawn curry was amazing. Tried Goan desert seraduea, some veg dishes were amazing. Also the local drink was ultimately superb.

The place is fabulous with a combination of service and taste the menu is short with best Goan dishes ,we had veg biryani which was moist and spicy quantity was enough for 3 people, and chicken & fish rava fry properly marinated and fried served in simple plates and the vibes here are totally different. Would rate the place 4.5 out of 5 , highly recommended place in the heart of the city for local Goan cuisine.👌👌

Amazing authentic goan food. Their fish thali is a must. Their Kokum and cortim chucken were amazing as well. Also, come here if you really love interiors. We became obsessed with their miniature kitchen sets hung on the walls!

When in goa,we wanted to taste authentic goan good.. We were given reference by local goan to try out here. We ordered the goan thali along with starters to taste multiple goan local cuisines.. Most of the curries are coconut based.. Overall was a good experience. They had some cool cocktails too!

Best place. We went here for dinner in Panjim. The vibes and the lighting was good as You can see in the pictures. The walls were adorned with old pictures giving a glimpse of goas past. The food was really great in terms of taste and quality. We ordered fried fish, chicken cafreal and one more Gravy. The cafreal was really good.. among beverages the Pina colada was really good. The staff were really helpful and helped us order after giving a brief idea about the dishes we wanted. I'd highly recommend this place for dinner with friends ✌️

  • 5/5 Joseph Ninan K. 5 months ago on Google
It's one small place in the heart of Panjim couple of streets away to all the casinos. Eventhough we heard the lunch thali is the best we could go only in the evening. We did order kokum soda mocktail, rice, rawa fried prawns and king fish Goan fish curry. Oh boi it was amazingly. Huge quantity prawns - about 12 pieces I think. Big prawns, cleaned and fried extremely well. It tasted yum Fish curry - coming from a place that has fish curry every day. The Goan version was another version of how good fish curries can be. King fish was awesome Kokum drink - another hit. Don't miss this place if you are around Panjim for a good lunch or dinner.

I just love the place the ambience and the location. Food was not as expected. The taste and quality doesn't justify saying authentic or vintage restaurant. Still lot of rush most of the time as people like me want to explore what's spl about these old places.

So much of hype …we had lunch yesterday but the food was pathetic . My friend has fish thali and she said she has stopped eating fish aftr this thali . The rotis whr horrible , as if eating in a jail . My veg thali was on top of the negative food . I don’t think we will ever again go to this place . We went seeing the reviews , but utterly surprised by the quality of food .

I went for lunch here after reading good reviews about the place and it does live up to its reputation. It was a weekday afternoon and there were already people waiting for their turn to sit and dine. I had to wait for around 20-25 minutes to get a table. I only ordered the fish thali and rawa prawns fry and all of it was quite good! I haven’t eaten at lot of Konkani or Goan food but I’d definitely recommend this place.

Best Food and good ambience. Place to be for lunch cravings when at Panjim. Quick and good service is the Bonus on top of the Good Delicious tasty food. Always crowded during lunch hours proving it's exceptional name and fame.

Loved the food. The fish thali and prawns rava fry are a must try. Very crowded place though. They take rearranging for before 12 pm but no reservations after 1 pm. So try to reach early or make a reservation.

This is located in Panajim. Excellent hotel. Interior catches your attention and gives feel of old kokani lifestyle. Very clean. Star is also polite and sincere. Service in time. Highly recommended dish is prawns Biryani. It seems like made in Ghee. Only concern is crowdy in afternoon session in weekend. So sometimes you may not get seat if you are late. Overall very nice hotel, highly recommended. If you like review, hit Like option.

Superb quality... Amazing freshness... We went on a Sunday 1.20pm...we had to wait as it's very popular but it was worth the wait, as prawns were super tasty, kingfish was super fresh.. Fish thaali is not worth the money... Better to order a-la carte.. .. Dessert Ceradura was divine. .. A must visit! And not expensive the other top restaurant

A nice sea foood restaurant at panji. Good quality food . Very reasonable. Once you reach make a table booking as there is a bit waiting. Good to visit with family and friends.

Really really good fish thali available here. No parking outside and the place is always busy so book in advance if possible, we barely managed to get a seat. Good ambiance and the prices are also reasonable for the quality you get!

  • 4/5 Rohit N. 2 years ago on Google
One of the most popular restaurant in panjim. Usually people prefer this as a capital of sea food prepared with traditional goan touch and at some extent it is keeping that reputation. Ambience here is brilliantly planned, traditional Portuguese Architecture with brown colour theme with interiors. Properly designed with traditional goan utensils. PROS - One of the best restaurant for sea food in Goa - Traditional ambience and nice place to spend time with family or friends. - Good hospitality and quick service. - Best quality food with constomization as per request. CONS - Overcrowded! always have to wait for 40+ minutes for reservation. - Overpriced! Some sea food dishes are priced so high that unknowingly you will increase your bill. - Not recommended for vegetarian people.

This is my Go To place for every Goa visit.. Lip smacking Rava fried prawns and Kingfish you can die for. Luckily we stayed during Goa film festival and we enjoyed there film festival menu which is available once in a year. We had stuffed crabs and it was so delicious and mouth watering. We also had their Big Fat Prawns thali which. They also serves sukha javala and Kokam Rival which comes in a thali. You need to go here way early as it was always crowded and you need to for so long to have delicious meal. Every menu is pocket friendly . 10/10 for this Lovely place

vintage ambience, amazing food, great service, literally people were waiting outside for their turn that's the magic of their dishes. Fish thali became my favourite at the next second I took the bite. Must visit place to eat if you're in goa.

When i first saw this place on Google, i thought it might be over Hipped with so many review. But during my visit i was surprised by the hospitality and the food served. The sea food thali is must try at kokni kateen if you visit goa . The lopa fish and crab masala made me go mama mia 🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤 The cocktails were good and at the end i must say the Ceradura just made my day. Overall i would just recommend the place ad everything was up to the mark even with such a heavy crowd the staff handled everything very smoothly.

  • 5/5 Ayan G. 2 years ago on Google
Right down to the home-made kokni curries and desserts are reminiscent of the welcoming and cosy Goan charm, that will lull you into food coma soon after. With tasteful décor all around you and a rustic radio softly humming away Konkani songs, the restaurant doubles up as a time machine, promptly teleporting you to a prettier past. They have an ultra special thali called the 'bappa' thali which comes loaded with crab curry, prawn curry, mussels and fried fish - an absolute must-try. Each dish has a distinct taste and flavour. From the Kokum saar to the Surmai rawa fry to the mussels stir fry, each dish is freshly made with Goan recipes that have been passed down generations. Remember that they don’t do reservations, so once you show up there might be some wait time, but don’t let that deter you! Trust us, it is worth the wait!

  • 5/5 Ankur K. 2 years ago on Google
Waited for almost an hour. But this is worth the wait for sure. I'm saying this as a vegetarian🙄 If you like, love, or enjoy seafood then this is a place that must not be missed.

The restaurant opens at 12 noon and I suggest be there as early as you can otherwise you'll have to wait for a table. Can take an hour or so. As soon as you arrive go inside and get a token number. You get your table according to your number. I don't know if the food was worth the 1 hr wait. We ordered the fish thali and veg thali. No 1 butter chicken, chapati and few drinks. So fish thali had mussels, crab, Kingfish rawa fry, prawns rawa fry, fish curry, chicken curry, and all sorts of accompaniments. So we don't eat shell fish and we asked if they could take back these curry's and get us Veg dishes. They bought us 3 chicken curry's now I don't know what to do with those. They took the prawn fry and din get us any replacement and charged us for it. The staff aren't even courteous. Veg thali was better. I wouldn't call it No 1 butter chicken, I've had better. I liked the kokum soda though. The interiors are rustic and kind of compact. But beautifully done. Might not visit again. This thali isn't worth the wait. It's just overrated.

One of the best places in Panjim to try Saraswat Goan cuisine. Infact it is so popular that one must expect a long waiting if you reach around peak hours. Good thing is the staff has a token system and also let's takes your order while you await your turn. Coming to the food, one of the best, undoubtedly! Lovely crisp fish fry, awesome prawn curry and a lip smacking Serradura! Surely coming back for more on next visit to Panjim!

  • 5/5 Pranav H. 1 year ago on Google
What an outstanding experience we had. There is at least 15 mins wait every time you go but that's understandable considering every single thing the restaurant offers. They have a good wait area and system of chit so it's fair to everyone. We got seated and we liked the menu which favours Kokni cuisine, a vast menu which none other Kokni restaurant offers. We were 5 of us which included our grandma in wheelchair and ordered various things. Beautiful ambience. I had high expectations about the food and when I had each and every thing on the menu, I didn't think it was possible that my expectations would be exceeded, such was the food. Extremely fresh ingredients and tasty beyond expectations, rich and thick gravy/masala, thick slices of fish. Good staff. Another major plus are prices which is very affordable considering the place being situated in the centre of the city and being widely popular and also considering the food. Do not think twice if you decide to visit this place.
