The Sikkim viewpoint is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Perched at a lofty altitude, it offers panoramic vistas of the majestic Himalayas, verdant valleys, and cascading waterfalls. The view is simply awe-inspiring, with the snow-capped peaks towering above the clouds. It's a perfect spot to soak in the tranquility of nature and capture stunning photographs.

A nice monastery... It is one of the monastery that was open to tourists post covid19 3rd wave... The monastery was quite spacious and when we went it was empty...hardly there were any other people... Also from this place you can view the Kanchanjunga range... There is a washroom in the compound which is very clean... A nice and peaceful place...

I found this monastery the prettiest with the most beautiful view of all. Although I could not visit Rumtek here. But Gonjang is very beautiful. There are timings when the inner sanctum is open, but none the less, the monastery as a whole is beautiful to visit.

Gonjang monastery is one of the best monastery in Gangtok town. It is very near to the main city. It looks very impressive from outside to me with a big Buddha statue inside. Inside this monastery you can see the Idols of Khen-lop Cho-Sum, three Religious Personalities or founding Fathers of Tibetan Buddhism along with several other statues. Today, the monastery has over 100 monks. The monastery has a Community Health Care Centre for providing medication to monks and the local people. It is also called as Gonjang Gompa. The view from the Monastery is very very eye soothing and the tranquil atmosphere is just what you need to leave the city life behind. Timings to visit the monastery is 7 AM to 5 PM. You can take any cab from Gangtok to this wonderful monastery.

This is one of monastery in "Gangtok" with a clean and clear place. It is situated in part of "North Sikkim". It was established in year 1981. It is located about 6km away from the heart of "Gangtok" town. The monastery has Thadrol Dorjee Memorial Community Health Care Centre for providing medication to monks and the local people. Monastic education along with Tibetan language and English are taught to the monk students. It's shows the culture of the ancestors of people who lived here. The place is located on the hills so the view is also great to watch.

Its a lovely monastery. Its so beautiful, colorful and peaceful. You need an entry ticket of Rs 10 only. They have preserved this well. And photography is also allowed inside which is not a usual thing for any monastery visit. Usually photography is not allowed. There is also a very good view where you see the entire gangtok in its natural environment, with mountains, trees and clouds. There is also a washroom for both male and female.

Gonjang Monastery is a hidden gem nestled in the serene hills of Sikkim. This sacred place exudes tranquility and spirituality. The location, surrounded by lush greenery and panoramic views of the Himalayas, adds to its charm. The monastery's architecture is a testament to Tibetan Buddhist traditions, with intricate paintings and colorful prayer flags that create a mesmerizing atmosphere. The monks here are welcoming and eager to share their knowledge, making it a great place to learn about Buddhism. Visiting Gonjang Monastery is not just a spiritual experience but also a visual delight. It's a perfect spot for meditation and introspection, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Don't forget to spin the prayer wheels and soak in the peaceful ambiance. I highly recommend a visit to Gonjang Monastery to anyone seeking a deeper connection with spirituality and a chance to witness the unique cultural heritage of Sikkim. There is entry fee of 10 rs

My recent visit to Gonjang Monastery was an absolute delight, and it left me with a profound sense of peace and tranquility. This hidden gem tucked away in the serene hillsides of Sikkim truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I set foot inside the monastery, I was struck by the captivating beauty of its architecture and the surrounding natural landscape. The monastery's traditional Tibetan design, adorned with vibrant colors and intricate details, was a feast for the eyes. The peaceful ambiance and the backdrop of lush green hills made it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I cannot speak highly enough of the monastery's dedication to cleanliness and upkeep. Everything, from the prayer wheels to the meditation spaces, was immaculate, creating an environment that encouraged reflection and inner peace. In conclusion, Gonjang Monastery is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking solace and a deeper understanding of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery's stunning architecture, welcoming monks, and pristine surroundings make it an unforgettable experience. My visit left me spiritually enriched and deeply grateful for the opportunity to explore this hidden treasure in the Himalayas.

A beautiful place located on the outskirts of Gangtok. Best time to visit is during the early morning hours, when it is less crowded. You can sit inside and enjoy the silence. The outer wall offers a stunning view of the surrounding areas from the top. In the evenings you can observe the monks having their daily rituals outside. The place is spacious and clean, washroom and drinking water facilities are available.

We visited this monastery during our trip to Gangtok. This peace is so peaceful and calm, you'll feel very happy and relaxed. Inside the monastery is a beautifully decorated Large hall, though photography is not allowed there. The outside region has a beautiful view, too. There is also a prayer wheel. Overall nice experience 😊❤️

Like all monasteries, beautiful colorful temple vibes and a big open area in front of the Monastery with colored flags proudly sverwing in the air. The views of the mountains from the Monastery are exquisite and breath taking. Monk housing adjoining to the praying area. The space inside the main temple is relatively small compared to other places I have been to.

Monastery is calm & cool, as usual. Foundation stone laid by dalai lama in 1981. Positiveness spread here everywhere. A small but good restaurant is also here.

Lovely place with a.lot of young monks in residence, some of who were playing soccer in the open space in front of the temple. The temple itself is beautiful with very elaborate paintings on the walls and ceilings and amazing statues of padmasambhava and the buddha

Silent place. The architecture is simply marvelous. Nice place with positive spiritual vibration . The monastery was established in 1981 and a tourist attraction for studying Tibetan culture. The monastery is huge and you get to see great views from here. Best time to visit is between 1-4pm as later the cold wind forces u to put jackets😅. A small cute cafe is also there. They serve different types of traditional food.

This is such a peaceful place with great vibes. The monastery is huge and you get to see great views from here. Only problem is not many food options other than maggi and bread omelette.

A very beautiful place, it is a Buddhist monastery. The place is so quiet that you will feel a strange peace as long as you stay here. Buddhists pray inside the monastery which brings peace to our souls.

The place is very peaceful. No noise is there. There is one army check point before the entrance of Monastery. After crossing the checkpoint you have to go by walk no vehicles are allowed to enter. Scenic beauty is awesome. You will fill that this part is separated from our polluted and noisy city.

This is the best place for being a monastery. You can enjoy the refreshing air here. Most of the tourists who visit Gangtok definitely visit this monastery. No one will stop you in enjoying the actual view of the place. That's the greatness of the monastery. People are less. Space is more.

It's a very beautiful space in heart of nature. This place is located in the heart of mountains and view is awesome with beautiful skyline. You can easily see small kid monks playing and having fun in the midst of their lessons. Also, it's very peaceful you can spend quiet good time standing there watching the skyline if u love books then you can sit in the corner and enjoy the nature at its best. Not a place to go with kids since they will get bored.
