is said that Mughal Emperor Jehangir admired the beauty so much that he named it as Noori Aabshar after the Mughal Queen Noor Jehan. In the local dialect the name became famous as Noori Chamb (waterfall). It is believed that whenever the Queen visited the state, she bathed in the gurgling waters. Also, she got a royal mirror fixed near the waterfall for viewing the same from her tent of which only the frame exists. The waterfall used to descend from around 100 feet earlier. Due to rock cutting and other natural changes the descend has shortened to just 75 feet. Still the beauty has not reduced one bit. Once experienced the splendid beauty, Jehangir camped near this scenic waterfall. In the afternoons, both the King & Queen spent their time in the waters, where the public was barred from coming anyway near. This was unnecessary because the waterfall is not visible from any point in its vicinity. Though Kashmir is the destination of choice in summers, tourists throng Noori Chamb Waterfall in great numbers to beat the sweltering heat in plains. It is situated in just the midst of Behramgala & Chandimarh on Mughal Road, around 45 kilometers from Poonch District and has an elevation of 3480 meters.

Historical Fall, Where Mughal Emperor Jahangir used to Stay during his visits to Kashmir. He was so Fascinated by the Beauty of the Fall that He Names it Noori Chamb.(On the Name of his Wife Noor Jahan). Previously the Height of the Fall Is so Good that tourists feel the Fog near the Bridge, but with the passage of Time and Recent Floods the Rock is degraded by Force of water. Now water falls behind the Rock and Fog has been Reduced.

Best place to visit with family, History of Noori Chamb is that people say Noor Jahan use to come here for the path under the waterfall during Mughal era when they use to travel via Mughal road, stretch is under construction from Rajouri to baflaiz, one should not travel during the night on this road, travel during day time and have the feeling of heaven by seeing the beautiful views of mountains and the waterfall at Noori Chamb, fresh air and scenery.... Noori Chammb Noori Chammb associated with the name of Mughal Queen Noor Jahan is famous for its scenic beauty & water fall. It is situated near Behram Galla in Surankote Tehsil about 45 kms. from Poonch town. The fall of the stream gives rise to dense clouds of water vapours which engulfs the area & spread all over. The Emperor Jahangir had developed so much fancy & liking for this fall that he named it Noori Chammb after the name of his beloved queen Noor Jahan. Mughal queen used to stay here for relaxation. She had got fixed a mirror besides the fall on the mountain wall where she used to have her make- up after the bath.

Noori Chamb is really an awesome, fabulous, historic, and tourist place of Poonch.. Description of Noori Chamb: Noori Chamb is a waterfall in the headwaters of the Poonch River in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir in India. It is named after the Mughal queen Nur Jahan. Noori Chamb is located near the hill village of Bahramgala below Pir Panjal Pass (Peer Ki Gali) in the Poonch district. It is at a distance of 10 km from Bufliaz. The Mughal Road passes next to it. This place is linked with the Mughal history. According to local legends, it is named after Nur Jahan, the wife of emperor Jehangir. "Chamb" in local terminology is water fall. On the way to Kashmir, Nur Jahan used to bath in the waterfall Noori Chamb is the 2nd tallest plunge waterfall and a tourist attraction in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Noori Chammb associated with the name of Mughal Queen Noor Jahan is famous for its scenic beauty & water fall. It is situated near Behram Galla in Surankote Tehsil about 45 kms. from Poonch town. This waterfall located on historic mughal road is an eye catcher..It is a very popular tourist destination of Poonch district..The mesmerizing water sound is extemely delight to hear. The view is magnificient. The kashmir valley is 3 hour drive from this place..Only drawback is the car parking..One has to park the vehicle quite far away from this place..The food canteen and tourist reception center(trc) were closed..so better pack ur own food, water etc if you want to spend quality time there...Must visit !!

Noori Chamb waterfall in Kashmir is a true gem that offers a captivating natural spectacle. The accessibility of this waterfall is excellent as it can be easily reached by vehicle, thanks to its convenient location on the road. The cascading waters and the picturesque surroundings create a serene and mesmerizing atmosphere that is sure to leave visitors enchanted. I'm giving it a 4-star rating because while the accessibility is great, I felt that there could be some improvements in terms of amenities and facilities nearby. Nevertheless, Noori Chamb is definitely worth a visit for its natural beauty and the ease of access. It's a wonderful spot to appreciate the wonders of nature in Kashmir.
