Friendly people & hospitality.. one of the best camping place 🏕️ . Don't bring plastics, don't smoke or drink, Don't wear footwear in the village as it hurts their sentiment, land & soil is sacred to them. You can experience One of the few surviving traditional way of life ...

Vellagavi one of my best trips with my friends. The view from that village and food was extraordinary. Though the trek would be hard and it takes around 2-3 hours up and down its worth for the pain. If you are planning for this place I suggest you to prepare yourself a week before. Definitely you will come to know about your stamina and endurance after this trek.

its a camp spot located in vellagavi(isolated village,altitude-4200ft)the best about this camp site is 1.you have view point of >270 degree 2.you can see kodaikanal mountain ranges(thick dense forest),theni, vaigai dam. 3.you can watch sunrise and sunset, hear and see mountain streams, many species of birds 4.i must tell about their hospitality-the people are kind, friendly, most of all happy faces. 5.this camp site was running by jeyamurugan and his family for more than 12years,they have tied up with many trekking and adventerous clubs all over india. 6.the positive and negative side of this camp site is the path(route to this vellagavi village)you have to walk a lot around 8kms from vattakanal.the trek level is difficult.it will take 3 to 4hrs for us to reach..but the people who lives there take less than 1 and1/2hrs 7.you can buy coffee seeds, coffee powder, mountain honey, avacoda in that village 8.respect their culture and customs

Awesome place. I visited it on 6/10/22. It is around 1hr. downward trekking to reach Vellagavi village from Dolphin's nose. Villegers are helpful and kind. The owner of Old kodai cafe, Mr. Murugan and his family is good and kind. They treated me like family. Very testy home made food. Supperr.. The location and view from the camp site is unexplainable. You can just feel it and enjoy it. Describing that experience is very difficult. You can not imagine until you experience it. Very peaceful place. You feel you are in nature's lap. I really enjoyed it. Mountain view, Jungle, Small wooden setup to sit and view nature, Campfire, Peace and great food. 😇😇😇😇😇 Also very good trekking experience while going down and going up again. Trekking is at some place have higher degree slop. So not recommended for old age people. But for people who love to be in nature's lap must visit this place.

What an amazing stay and the village this Vellagavi is! Just awesomeness everywhere. Been here with YHAI. The trek from vattakanal to vellagavi is jus mesmerizing, most of the trek is thru clouds. Coming to this stay, so clean, calm, tents placed on the lawn, also the owner is so friendly and down to earth. Food was great, great view from the tents and the vellagavi village is one of a kind. Sacred village where none where's the footwear. People are so approachable n smiling to tourist's. Grt stay and had an awesome time here. Thank you all!!!

Trekking and camping here was an unique experience which can't be matched with anything else. We started trekking from Vattakanal - Altaf's cafe and reached the camping site in 3hrs (Without break). Its around 6kms downhill slope trekking. Literally it's really really hard for normal people who don't do any physical activity frequently. Those who are reading this comment please go for trekking if you are really interested if not just prepare yourself for the pain But once you reach the camping site, every pain you had will go away. Because the view, the camp incharge hospitality and the food they deliver you will be so so good. If you want any specific food items ask them before starting the trip. If not, the food provided as per their menu will also be worth it. They will provide Super sambar, Rasam and some kootu poriyal for Lunch. Then by 5pm, Black coffee. And then by 7:30 Nite dinner - Veg Rice and Chappathi Chicken curry. Food will be awesome. But if you want to taste mountain banana, Avocado and Coffee, inform them before. So in conclusion, it will be a 3hours trekking for uphill and downhill trekking each. Camping site and food will be so good. If you are going as a gang of boys and girls, then tell them about the risks and pain in trekking well before. Vellagavi village doesn't have road facility from the day it was found before 400 years. Now with the help of this camping service, the village peoples blood and sweat are put in now to build a roadway on their own without anyone else's help. So very soon, road will be available for Jeep Safari to Vellagai (fingers crossed) Special thanks to my camp incharge - JagaMurugan and Vairavan Ayya. More power to you 🙌🏽

Beautiful village in a valley surrounded by the majestic hills of Kodaikanal. Similarly the owners of the camp site and the villagers are beautiful too with kind hearts and helping nature. It is a strenuous few (~7) kilometres of trek down to reach the destination and we have to walk our way up that distance on the return too! But it is worth it. Just remember to keep fit if visiting, otherwise it will be troublesome (as it had been for me).

My friends and I trekked from Periakulam to Vellagavi with Mr.Murugan's guidance who is an excellent guide and host. His arrangements and attention to details were par excellent. He and his family manage the camp site. The site is neat and has great views. His family prepares lovely meals and serve food with love at the camp site. He ensures that all our needs are met, while at the camp site or during the trek. Murugan's services are highly recommended.

It's been take you upto 1 hrs downhill trekking from the tourist attraction highest creek, you should have good grip trek shoes with enough water, avoid your activities during rainy season coz it's not advisable, its very thrilling and exciting moment when you will find these people, they are such a nice, lovely and friendly nature hospitality type souls in this beautiful place

One of the best scenic places I’ve been to! I love it. Climate was not soo chilly as in Kodaikanal.. but for the view and sunrise it was a great location to spend your vacation! Food was great! Amenities were okay. Only solar powered electricity.
