It quite small and all about insects. The price is bit too steep considering the amount of collection they have. The only good part it is on the roadside and can easily be found. Because of it small collection, you will soon come out unless if you are studying insects deeply and in details. It is located in the center of the city and well known area here in Shillong. Yes, it is also easy to located

There are many specimens of butterflies and insects . This museum is in the basement of one house . We had to ring the bell and there was no response, luckily one girl from neighbour hood came and opened the door and called the lady owner of the house who was not very proactive, she checked our phones collected fees without any receipt of payment and said Rs 10 for one shot . She was not very pleasant ,we were asked to put of lights from shabby basement. Though the collection was good I wish the lady was more proactive and pleasant They could have the door open and keep one receptionist and made museum in more professional way . Just requires 20 min to go though museums.

A great place for general public and entegologists alike. Although small, has a good collection. This privately owned museum is maintained by Wankhar descendants. Great effort by the family..kudos to them. Not to miss spot in Shillong.

Good collection of butterflies, moths, beetles etc. But charges for every picture taken unreasonable, also attitude of person in charge to check photo album was most repulsive part of visit. Not worth visiting .

The Wankhar Entomology Museum is a small museum located in Shillong, the capital city of the northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya. The museum is named after its founder, Late Mr. Wankhar, who was a renowned entomologist and had a passion for collecting insects. The museum houses a collection of over 10,000 insect specimens, including rare and exotic species from India and other parts of the world. The collection includes butterflies, moths, beetles, spiders, and other insects, which are displayed in glass cases. The museum aims to promote the study of entomology and raise awareness about the importance of insects in the ecosystem. Visitors can learn about the different types of insects, their anatomy, behavior, and habitats through the exhibits and displays. The Wankhar Entomology Museum is a popular attraction for nature lovers, students, and researchers interested in entomology. The museum is open to the public on weekdays, and admission is free

It was inside a residential area so that's why it was hard to find it

I've been there a few years back and it's nostalgic to see the kaleidoscopic surrounding of the place. You should be there first hand to experience this one of a kind place.
