This was an amazing place for birding. We saw so many varieties. And the drive is extremely scenic with water bodies on both sides of the road. Early morning we also caught the local fisherman getting their produce to see in small small centers. It was an hectic activity zone and the sunrise was just amazing. We spotted more than 30+ species with our naked eyes. This is a must visit place for nature lovers.

Very Beautiful place, it's good to reach there by 6.00 am or 6.30 am. We can view the beautiful scene, that all birds resting in group on wet lands. These migratory birds come once inna year to this place and shall be there for couple of months. This beautiful moments we can enjoy with our family. One more speciality is that it's very calm and quiet place...one side completely filled up with birds and on the other side we can see lot of local people catch fish for their daily life.. So, I wish all of us go and enjoy this scene, it's really soothing and enjoyable moment in our life. Something which is unforgettable... Watch & enjoy

Small wetland. Ideal for a late afternoon stroll. No mosquitoes because the walking path is clear. At the beginning of November, during my visit, I was able to observe herons, egrets, bee-eaters, swallows, kingfishers, swamphen and kingfish. The path is a little monotonous and on asphalt, but the walk remains pleasant. You can access the wetland from the main road. You follow the path to a church then ask the ferryman to take you to the other bank. It will cost you 10 INR.

Best place for spending time in morning and evenings. Dont go in sunny time as there is no tree shades for taking rest.

Water-Birder's paradise!... for bird photography the best time is to visit in the morning between 6.30 AM and 8.30 AM, after which there is reduced activity and heat-haze. The road is narrow, so better to come in 2 wheeler, although cars can go through. As per regulars the best season is between November and March. I've gone there last March and had a great time. Was not lucky enough to spot any flamingos though. NOTE: Visitors please avoid dumbing plastics... like bottles. Only with our collective responsibility can we ensure this place remains clean and inviting for our winged beauties.

Excellent place for bird watching and bird photography. Mornings and evenings suggested or else too hot as no trees around for shade. Bike or small vehicles better as narrow roads. Dont litter the place. Dont disturb birds Enjoy being with nature in the company of feathered friends.

One of my favorite places for birding. I have visited the places in both seasons monsoon and winter. In monsoon you the bird species counts are less but in winter( Nov-Mar) you can see lot of species. The road there is narrow and not a pitch road. It's better to go by bike rather than by car.

Could not spot any flamingoes today but enough varieties of birds there now also. The greenery and view itself makes this place good to visit.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Changaram Wetlands and was blown away by the incredible birdwatching opportunities available there. Located in the Indian state of Kerala, this area is a true haven for birders of all levels. Upon arriving at the wetlands, I was immediately struck by the diverse array of bird species present. From colorful kingfishers and elegant egrets to majestic herons and graceful cranes, there was no shortage of feathered friends to observe. Overall, I highly recommend Changaram Wetlands as a birding hotspot. The variety of birds and stunning surroundings make it a must-visit destination for any birder. Whether you are an experienced ornithologist or just starting out in the hobby, you are sure to have a memorable and rewarding experience at Changaram Wetlands.

Great place to observe waterbirds - But we be aware of the water level maintained in the area. If there is more than 3-4 inches of water then the small shore birds wouldn't be seen and if the flooding is even more then we would see only ducks and cormorants. The water level can be impacted both by tidal action or by pumping during the farming period. Even in the off season we can see a good number of birds but the best time to visit would be between October and March when the migratory birds would be available. On a good day over 50 species of birds can be sighted in this wetland.
