It's
been
a
couple
of
months
since
I
joined
Mud
&
Mettle
(MNM)
Performance
Training
center,
and
it's
been
a
treat
to
be
a
part
of
this
community.
As
a
self-proclaimed
fitness
enthusiast,
my
idea
of
fitness
was
limited
to
calisthenics
(body-weight
drills)
-
I've
been
active
in
the
fitness
circuit
for
more
than
a
few
years
now.
Yet,
over
the
course
of
these
two
months,
I've
learnt
about
the
importance
of
mixing
body-weight
drills
with
equipment.
While
calisthenics
is
necessary
to
build
a
solid
foundation
(in
terms
of
form
and
posture),
weight
training
helps
build
on
this
foundation
to
improve
strength
and
endurance.
Over
the
past
few
months,
my
highlights
at
MNM
have
been
the
following:
a.
Proficient
and
approachable
trainers:
The
gym
has
three
trainers
in
Benjo,
Nancy,
and
Bosco.
Each
trainer
conducts
sessions
for
people
in
different
difficulty
levels
-
Beginner's,
Intermediate,
and
Advanced.
Irrespective
of
the
level
that
you
are
currently
in,
there
is
a
linear
(and
a
natural)
progression
from
Beginner's
level
to
the
Advanced.
I
must
confess
that
each
trainer
is
proficient
in
what
they
teach.
They
give
a
detailed
description
of
how
to
perform
a
particular
workout
by
demonstrating
the
correct
way
to
do
it.
Moreover,
if
one
has
questions,
the
trainers
make
it
a
point
to
address
those
clarifications
in
a
non-judgemental
manner.
In
my
interactions
with
each
trainer,
I've
found
that
they
have
an
easy-going
nature
that
makes
one
feel
welcomed.
b.
Structured
approach
to
improving
performance:
One
of
the
unique
traits
of
this
center
is
the
meticulous
planning
that
goes
into
weekly
workout
sessions.
In
my
conversations
with
Bosco
and
Nancy,
I've
been
informed
how
the
MNM
team
has
a
six-month
plan
on
what
the
workouts
look
like.To
me,
this
planning
is
important
because
it
lets
me
know
that
there's
been
some
thought
behind
the
routine,
without
it
being
a
mindless
exercise
at
the
end
of
the
day.
c.
Varied
workouts:
It's
natural
to
get
bored
with
a
workout
routine
because
of
how
mundane
it
can
get.
In
my
experience
at
the
center,
I
have
not
come
across
many
(rather
any)
repetitions
in
the
workout
routine.
This
variety
keeps
me
on
my
toes.
Moreover,
the
weekly
routine
is
such
that
of
the
five
days,
four
days
are
reserved
for
strength
training
punctuated
by
a
day
for
'active
recovery'.
d.
A
place
for
all:
Irrespective
of
the
stage
that
you're
in
on
your
fitness
journey,
it's
safe
to
say
that
the
workouts
at
MNM
will
challenge
you.
For
most
reading
my
review,
I'm
sure
you
may
feel
that
all
of
these
points
sound
too
good
to
be
true.
I
was
in
your
position,
so
I
can
relatively
understand
your
apprehension.
But
as
a
good
samaritan,
how
about
I
offer
a
suggestion?
You
may
do
what
I
did.
Contact
the
MNM
center,
and
fix
a
trial
class.
I'm
sure
you'll
find
it
worth
your
time.
Sounds
fair?
