It was such an inspiring morning at Swacha Graha Kalika Kendra in HSR Layout. Conceptualised by Solid Waste Management Round Table, Blor. This 1.5 Acre park has been converted into a learning space to showcase various models of home and community composting. Vegetable garden established with the compost that is generated. Everyday, 1000 kgs of wet waste is brought to this space and turned into compost. Bath tubs that were construction debris turned into vegetable growing cans 🤩😍 Beautiful installation made with metal and plastic caps of bottles which carry the story of waste pickers who have now become entrepreneurs. So inspiring. Definitely a must visit place for anyone who is interested in composting. It is so well maintained and one feels happy after the visit.

First of its kind learning centre to do home and community compost. Do visit their website it's quite helpful if you can't visit them. There is even a bio gas cum composting option that is very good for restaurants.

It will be a great learning experience, if you are enthusiastic towards nature, gardening and keeping your place and surroundings clean. During Saturdays you can visit here to learn about composting. Staff and volunteers working here are very kind and knowledgeable people. I enjoyed visiting here and something new I took out from that place. A must visit place from my view.

The place was quite inspirating and very motivating to try at home. They teach home composting and are the first community composting unit. Places like these are the future of upcoming cities and developing cities like Bangalore.

The best place in the whole wide world to spend your time with nature!! On a serious note- it's a great learning centre where one gets know and learn about waste segregation, composting, growing and so on. Schools come here for hand-on sessions on composting, bio enzyme making and learning about sustainable practices. Their growing area is rich in seasonal fruits and veggies and its a delight to see the greenery around. Staff and volunteers here are very friendly and are eager to share their knowledge. One can also buy compost, cocopete and shredded leaf mixture which are essential for home composting. Kids can have fun feeding the cows, chasing roosters and seeing the earthworms at work!! Volunteers are welcome on weekend mornings to try out the various chores at the park, chit-chat, have fun and learn too!!

Kudos to who ever came up with the idea of having a learning centre exclusively for composting wet waste, which is the need of the hour! Who would have thought that one can simply walk up to a park and learn about various methods of composting kitchen waste, which is not just affordable but also easily doable! Kudos to the MLA who supported this project and to the HSR citizens forum team who have executed this so beautifully.. Way to go ???

A beautiful sustainable space which creates black gold aka compost from hundreds of kg of waste. Hardworking earthworms, cow and chickens help in creating this space a living ecosystem with their magical manure. A huge learning and exposure for schools and growing minds, various boards made with plastic recycled into information and learning, celebrating waste management in Bangalore. A pride of Bangalore and a space to learn about natural cycles.

One such great initiative looking to solve this problem is "SwachaGraha Kalika kendra", a composting learning center, It is a first-of-its-kind project in India, located in HSR Park , housing more than 20 composting models including a fully-functional Biogas unit. Besides gaining greater knowledge of composting and its benefits, the Learning Centre visitors would also get a chance to explore a multitude of home-gardening solutions. It is without a doubt the beginning of a very unique and impactful experience - an impending landmark for the garden city of Bengaluru. Must visit place

This "Swacha Graham kalika kendra" public park is at HSR Bangalore. it's a good place to know garbage and weste Utelization and segregation. A good steps by Bangalore gov, different companies and Waste management organizations. Here you can find numbers of methods to recycle and how to prepare a natural compost khad at home. We should use three Bin. 1. Green bin: for organic, kitchen and garden waste 2. Reusable bin: for Dry waste, plastic, paper, metals and Electronic waste. 3. Red bin: Rejected, sanitary and sharps waste. We can find different organizations with different methods of organic waste Bin. My dream garden, Orbin, Green technology, swachagraha, Shudh-labh, Byo binand Aaditi(stones soup) are among of them. I salute to everyone for there contribution of this environment friendly good work. I will also too try to do at my home as small scale. Q. 1 Why should I do it? So that it reduces waste that reaches landfills and reduces pollution to air and water So that different processes- composting, recycling, incineration can be applied to different kinds of waste Q. 2 How do I practice waste management at home? Keep separate containers for dry and wet waste in the kitchen Keep two bags for dry waste collection- paper and plastic , for the rest of the household waste Keep plastic from the kitchen clean and dry and drop into the dry waste bin. Keep glass /plastic containers rinsed of food matter Send wet waste out of the home daily. Store and send dry waste out of the home , once a week. Keep a paper bag for throwing the sanitary waste

Composting techniques, sustainable terrace gardening, bio-gas solutions are on display in this park. Volunteers from HSR Citizen Forum and SGKK support group provide session for schools, corporates, government institutions from all over India and abroad in community based solutions. Truly inspiring park and a model that requires replicating everywhere!!
