Har har Mahadev This is one of the jyotirlinga which is swambhu. I was fortunate enough to go to this divine place. We had gone there by our car through the ghat roads via different villages and not by the NH. The destination was good but the journey was mind blowing. The landscape view was breathtaking. The roads were like a roller coaster ride, up and down and curves and elevation never experienced before. The roads were good and people were helpful. The view from the top of the mountain was picturesque... Must experience..the wind, the beauty of nature, the windmills, the mountains, ghat roads and above all - Mahadev siting on the top of the mountain. The govt should take more efforts to develop the place more to encourage visitors.

My visit to the Bhimashankar Temple, surrounded by the enchanting beauty of foggy and cloudy weather, was truly magical. The temple itself was a marvel of architecture and spirituality, with its intricate design and historical significance. It was as if I had entered a realm where the divine and nature were intertwined. It's a must-visit place..

Nice place, it’s a cold place in winters due to heavy winds. An absolute wonder of a place. Great temple, mesmerizing nature surrounding the temple and a very pleasant weather throughout the year

One of the Jyotirling naturally formed shivling son our country. There are two ways to reach the place one through the road way directly which is 172 km and the other through the jungle crossing mountains by a 4 hr trek one way which is dangerous if you are trekking for the first time. A definite life changing experience but you need to be really careful.

The scenic journey(through the mountains) to visit this Jyotirling of Lord Shiva is nice. The approach pathway especially a few kms before the temple could be improved though. It's really nice to visit when there are no crowds, but avoid on holidays/weekends as the agents & the security make a killing for providing direct visit (darshan) of the lord if you are not interested to stand in the queue for hours

Bhimashankar is very much debated. There is a Bhimashankara temple near Pune (pictured) in Maharashtra, which was referred to as Daakini country, but Kashipur in Uttarakhand was also referred to as Daakini country in ancient days and a Bhimashkar Temple known as Shree Moteshwar Mahadev is present there. Another Bhimashankar is in the Sahyadri range of Maharashtra. The Bhimashankar temple near Guwahati, Assam is the jyotirlinga according to Sivapuran. According to Linga Purana, Bhimasankar temple in Bhimpur near Gunupur of Rayagada district in South Orissa is also believed as Bhimasankar Jyotirlinga, which is situated at the western part of the holy Mahendragiri mountains and at the river bank of Mahendratanaya(which is also believed as the Daakini area by many historian), was excavated in the year 1974, having quadrangular Shakti around the Linga and decorated by a Upavita as per the puran

Get the spiritual feeling along side the ghats and sight seeings it offers. While going to the temple I took the Talegaon route and I must say the roads and ghats are so magical. As far as the temple is concerned work is going on currently for the walking path. Try to visit this temple during off timings as there will be less rush to counter. Overall a very calm place to visit. Also do try the sweets sold outside the temple. I found it out to be really yummy.

I am from Tamil Nadu, the temple is so divine and sacred , need to walk down around 0.4 km from parking but the forest doesn't look great, no much wildlife and quite dry. As a nature lover it doesn't attract much like high altitude mountains with abundant wildlife like the western Ghats of Tamil Nadu. But the temple will definitely give you peace of mind and positivity in you. A dam is on the way but a little different route to Pune and roads a quite not in shape in this route compared to the main route.

This is a good place to unwind and yourself. Target reaching early ... And don't pay a single rupee to agents assuring of quick darshan. Get in line and you would reach temple in an hour if there is a rush ..it's pretty quick. Just next to Bhimashankar temple there is a Naagfani point ..it's about 3-5 KM in the reserve. It's a treck you will needs a sturdy vehical like Ertiga something or you may choose to walk .. it a bit tiring. But once you reach at the top ..you will just forget everything... What a feeling seeing that valley .. Words are not enough to explain it, you have to see it with your own eyes to believe it

If you are driving from Pune, then take the Manchar route. Avoid deviation at Rajgurunagar. Though it's the short route, the road condition is very bad. This temple is situated in the hills. After parking your vehicle, you'll have to go down the steps. Around 250 steps you are supposed to be there. Have a nice Darshan and return back. Beware of the Vendors. Due to corona situation, you'll find the temple is less crowded and you can take darshan easily.

Bhimashankar Temple is perched at the top of a hill in a small village called Bhorgiri. Owing to the presence of sacred Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, Bhimashankar temple remains crowded with devotees. According to the historical records, the temple is built at the same place where Lord Shiva took a Rudra avatar to kill a wicked demon, Tripurasura, who wanted to destroy all the three locks: Heaven, Hell and Nether world (Patal). After the fearful war, Lord Shiva rested for some time in the Sahayadri mountains. It was then Bhima River was originated from the sweat of Lord Shiva. Gupt Bhimashankar, Hanuman Lake, Mokshakund Teertha and Kamalja Mata Temple are some of the other religious places around Bhimashankar.

We started for Bhimashankar temple in the morning with a hired car .After leaving main highway we moved through hilly . It was really enjoyable . There is a beautiful lake on the way . It took more than two hours but couldn't go to final parking . We were dropped 2/3 km short because of the congestion of vehicle . There were buses ferrying people . We walked some distance to get on the bus .Everybody was in hurry to get into bus .Some how we got into and bus took us to the market near the temple. Both sides of entrance there are shops of flowers ,prayer material and food staff .We stood in queue .Long stair cases lead to the temple .When we came adjacent temple wall darshan was stopped for some special reason . It was drizzling . We were standing out side bare footed in the water. After one hour gate was opened. We went inside and had darshan . When we were very close to deity I saw another line joined the main line which created serious congestion . Everyone is pushing others. On enquiry I came to know that they are VIP ticket holder .How ever we had our darshan and left temple . Management is the issue of authority.

Bhimashankar Temple is said to be one of the jyothirlinga temples in India. Bhimashankar is located about 250 k.m from Mumbai. We started from Pune early morning at 5.00 a.m. The drive itself was through very beautiful country side. The early morning mist added to the scenario and at times the visibility was so low that we were worried. We reached the temple village at around 8.00 a.m. Devotees have to climb down approximately 250 steps to reach the temple. The steps are well made and are not very difficult even for seniors unless hampered by physical ailments. The premises are kept clean and once we reach the temple we are struck by the beauty of the architecture and carvings. We can enter the sanctum and touch the Shivalingh who is said to be in Ardha Nareeshwar form. Priests help us perform our prayers and one can leave the presence of the Lord with reluctance but with a satisfied mind. We reached early morning and there were no crowds. But if any one wants to have darshan and also enjoy the scenic beauty of the place, there are one or two Resorts that have come up , about 10 minutes drive from the temple. We had breakfast at one of these resorts named Rathva Resort, who had cottage type accommodation. The place looked clean but we did not stay there and cannot comment on the comfort. Breakfast was good and large helpings and very reasonably priced.visited the epitome of Shiva divinity. The road from Manchar to the shrine is really bad, state government must pay attention to it. It is risky for non localites to drive on this single road. Once you reach at temple site, there is a que for commoners who are pushed and treated inside temple like animals by the workers. The priest sitting there is just catering to puja of rich people who were sitting there with family, surely on money power. The priest does not even care to touch the belpatri brought by commoners, he will just pich your Nariyal and throw it in a basket behind him. Than you are asked to leave. It surely hurts. Third and more pinching thing, there were three temple guards, on the exit gate, 3-4 more temple guards were there inside the nearby room. They were collecting Rs. 200 per person, to let the people enter from exit gate. These were not policemen. They were wearing temple batch on their arms. A few plain clothed people were also available on the stairs, asking Rs. 200 each for back door darshan. Remember this is not authorised special darshan @Rs. 500/- . VIP darshan is also another category to be watched for. Since there is no complaint or suggestion link at the management site, I have to report it publicly. Hope management will take care. Regards. One of the jyotirlinga of Mahadev. Situated around 100KM from Pune. I visited there during monsoon and the view was mesmerizing. Best time to visit is early morning around 7-8am if you planning little late then you might find it little congested. 50rps charge before you enter Shri Bhimashankar and parking area is spread to 4 parking lots.

Bhimashankar jyotirling is one out of 12 jyotirling. A beautiful place to visit. There are two ways to go there, one via road and another is tracking. Tracking experience was awsome as you will get a chance to many beautiful sceneries. If you are choosing tracking option please keep warer and food with you as there is no option for buying water.

As per the Shiv Mahapuran, once Brahma (the Hindu God for creation) and Vishnu (the Hindu God for protection) had an argument about creation. To test them, Shiva pierced the three worlds as a huge endless pillar of light, the jyotirlinga. Vishnu and Brahma split their ways to search downwards and upwards respectively to find the end of the light in either direction. Brahma lied that he found out where it ends, while Vishnu conceded defeat. Shiva appeared as the second pillar of light and cursed Brahma that He would have no place in ceremonies while Vishnu would be worshipped till the end of eternity. The jyotirlinga is the supreme partless reality, out of which Shiva partly appears. The jyotirlinga shrines, thus are places where Shiva appeared as a fiery column of light.

Om Namha Shivay One of 12 Jyotirlinga. Pleasant atmosphere all around the year here. Development work is in progress. Good roads to drive here. Gupt Bhima is best treking point here in monsoon. At This point a big water fall flows in monsoon. Around 2 km from main temple back side. Sunset 🌇 point is here named Mumbai point 👉. 1.5 km walking distance from Steps of main temple. Starting point of Holey river Bhima is here where an old man stays and tell everyone story of origin of bhima river which flows towards PANDHARPUR where it's name changes to CHANDRABHAGA. Best time to visit is mansoon season or any season when no public holiday occurs. Avoid public holidays so that you can have good Darshan of Prabhu BhimaShankar . If one whish to offer Abhishek of daity , fixed charges need to pay .

Journey routes are really senic. And they well planned to manage crowd, but lack of security. Only near temple total of 6 to 8 guards are available for entire temple premises. Direct entry pass cost you Rs.500/- per head. If you want you can manage with police officers without entry pass with 350 to 400 per head bribe 🤣🤣🤣🤣. So, please buy tickets from counter only not with police persons. 😂

Bhimashankar trek is a nature lover’s delight. It takes you into the heart of the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary through thick forests. The Bhimashankar trek gives you a full dose of adventure with stream crossings, ladders, and rock climbing all bundled into one trek While monsoon is the best time to do this trek, it can also be done in other seasons. The route is scenic and thrilling. Those accustomed to trekking can hike the Bhimashankar via the Shidi Ghat route. While for beginners, we recommend the Ganesh Ghat route, which offers splendid views and is easier. While in the jungle, you’ll have a variety of birds, langurs, and spotted deer for company. If you’re lucky, you might even get to spot a ‘Shekar’ or the Malabar Giant Squirrel. The best part of the trek is the trail to Gupt Bhimashankar, located in the middle of a stream, underneath a rock. ➤ Trail Information Altitude: 3,050 ft Time took: 3.5 hours via Shidi ghat (ladder); 4 hours via Ganesh ghat. 2 hours to descend. Trek gradient: Moderate- Difficult Water sources: None. Cary 2-3 litres of water. In monsoon, you can refill your water bottles from seasonal streams. Khandas is the base village for the Bhimashankar trek. About 500 m after crossing Khandas village, you will come across a small bridge at a T-junction. The road to the left leads to Shidi Ghat while the one to the right leads to the Ganesh Ghat walkway.

One of the most beautiful and blessed place of all. Though it is beautiful, it is also a bit risky place with roads having lots of twist and turns, and no service of any sort available if unfortunately ur vehicle breakdown. U will find u r self in middle of no where. Avoid travelling to this place when rainy season is at its peak. Its full of fog . The only thing that is not worth is accommodation/stay. Though their are very few good hotels, but prior booking is anytime better. Better u schedule u r journey with proper plan. If you are a adventure enthusiastic, its a treat. If planning to visit with family, mostly try to reach this place in morning hrs. and try to leave before it starts getting dark.

It was grt grt experience in tracking but it is very very difficult to claim till up and if you are going in night tracking then take touch & odomos please put on tracking clothes , tracking shoes which are mostly use in tracking, then you will be more comfortable in tracking, tracking sticks or you can buy from there wooden sticks but again you are comfortable with that or not and doing night tracking because you will get best atmosphere up their. And avoid chapels it will brake in between and you may have to face a lots pain from your legs. But this place is mostly for tracker who are loving it, doing tracking.

The details on MTDC BHIMASHANKAR and which is Also known As Bhimashankar Bhakt Niwas and operated by Maharashtra state tourism.. The place is located at prime location and about 8 km from Bhimashankar Temple. The property is introduced by MTDC in 2019. The hotel has budget rooms between Rs 1800/- to Rs. 4000/- plus taxes. Since there are less Hotels in Bhimashankar one can look this as option in budget rooms. Though I feel MTDC need to see development of the place by improve the management as there are few opportunity of improvement I personally observed. 1 There is Western Toilet in room's but doesn't have jet spraying facilities. 2 Staff need to trend though they are cooperative 3. The restaurant need additional manpower as Table for seating.. 3. Food quality is good but service waiting is about 45 min which is on higher side. Over all for short stay this is the one of good option in Bhimashankar.

Devine. Gods abode in middle of forest. Road are not so good but almost no traffic compensate for it. A very scenic and awesome drive. Not much places to eat on the way so don’t forget to carry water and some snacks.

Bhimashankar is an ancient shrine situated in the Sahyadri hills in the state of Maharashtra one of jyotirling of shiva.. During rainy, winter it's too dangerous to drive uphill due to climate (dense fog on road) be very careful while driving also avoid night drive....har har mahadev 🙏

  • 5/5 Juganu kumar G. 1 year ago on Google
    1. If u r visiting on holidays or any special day ..then reach there by 8:30 maximum.... otherwise you will fill a lot rush....But u can get a token through VIP pass for early access. 2. Whatever Goggle map show expected time to reach...add one more hour ...coz u will find a great rush before 3 km of temple due to road construction... 3. Google map shows to route to reach there....then follow the longer one... 4. Over temple emits a great positive power......so temple has a five star rating.

Great place to visit in monsoon. Amazing view. Only issue is that there are dumb people who overtake and form 2 lanes and create traffic. Be ready to spend atleast 1-2 hours in traffic.

One of the extremely amazing Treks in Sahyadri Ranges and my 1st ever trek to Bhimashankar Jyotirling Temple. Well managed by friend Vaibhav of Trippydia (Borivali, Mumbai), we took this moderate trek via Ganesh Ghat with duration of 4 to 5hrs with good breaks. The food and stay at the Base were just excellent and the Bhimashankar Visit was a supreme experience. A Must do trek in Monsoons. Cheers

Get the spiritual feeling along side the ghats and sight seeings it offers. While going to the temple I took the Talegaon route and I must say the roads and ghats are so magical.Holiest place for all the Hindus as it's one of jyotirlinga. It's situated in the dense forest of Bhimashankar Forest Santury. It is named on Bhima river origin. Lord Mahadev temple has ancient history and importance over lots of years. Minute updates going on here along with keeping nature safe. It got overflowing by devotees almost all over the year. In the rainy season, beauty is at its peak. Awesome nature in monsoon. All seasons the government took care of devotees. You can visit here by walk, bike , car , buses etc. You can visit this place with friends and family members. Enjoy jungle safari as well. They provide palkhi for old aged devotees at some cost. Try to go on weekdays as on weekends it was overflowing, it took time to take blessings. As far as the temple is concerned work is going on currently for the walking path. Try to visit this temple during off timings as there will be less rush to counter. Overall a very calm place to visit. Also do try the sweets sold outside the temple. I found it out to be really yummy.

Very nice and Holi place. Pleasent climate. Bit crowded, but understandable. One of the 12 Jotyirlinga of LORD SHIVA. Rainy season is a good time to visit, with little care.

Om namah shivaya. One of the 12 jyotirlinga temples. Crowded in holidays and Shravan months. Now they also allow paid darshan with 500/- rs pass per person. Usually it takes 2-3 hours in off days and 4-5 hours in peak hours, while paid darshan can take approx 1 hr.

  • 5/5 Ronit H. 5 months ago on Google
Jyotirling, best place to visit with family, as also less number of steps, old people with normal practice can visit the temple easily, also has covered walking area.

  • 5/5 Ravi shankar S. 3 months ago on Google • 7 reviews New
Those who are visiting bhimashankar must visit Gupt bhimashankar(it is behind the main temple) as well. That place is so wonderful and the way to gupt is also very interesting. It is around 20 min (walking distance) away from bhimashankar .
