Most infamously famous place in Goa: O' Coqueiro, Porvorim. This is where the notorious killer Charles Shobhraj was caught. And this where I caught some amazing food. Potato Recheado: Recheado is a hot pungent spice paste mainly consisting of red chillies and vinegar which is very prominent in Goan cooking. Usually used to stuff seafood. Going for the vegetarian version of it, it is a sheer burst of flavour symphony for your tastebuds. First you hit the tang followed by the subtle sweetness and a lingering spiciness in your mouth. Goes perfectly amazing with beer. Mix Veg Xacuti with Goan Poie: this fresh soft poie with the coconut and spice blend based veg curry is a good try for the vegetarians looking to experience goan cuisine. Very subtle flavour profile but you can taste all the ingredients well. Butter Chicken: oh good lord! That butter chicken was just comforting and filling. Could not have asked for more! Quick service. Soothing ambiance. Good quantity and beautiful food. Could not have asked for more on a lazy Sunday. If you are visiting Goa, add this to your itinerary.

It is an excellent place to try out authentic Goan cuisine. The place is really beautiful. There was also a person singing really nice songs. The staff behaviour is good. And the food is heaven. It tastes so delicious and different at the same time.

O coqueiro is one of the famous landmarks in Porvorim and is known for serving Goan - Portuguese dishes since ages. From being the first ones to serve chicken cafreal in Goa to constanty dishing out some authentic goan cuisine this placehas always managed to be the talk of the town. Currently with the ongoing worldcup, they have live screenings which you can enjoy while indulging in their worldcup special menu that features some crispy lepos, prawns stuffed papad & the most delicious stuffed crabs. The food here is no doubt excellent but service is top notch too! Your order is ready in no time & the staff makes sure you are attended very well. P.S- They have a parking space of its own so you dont have to hunt for parking on the roadsides.

We had high hopes from such an old resturant. Starting experince was good as the ambience is nice and live singing make it amazing. But when it comes to food, its disappointing. I ordered cream soup, cafreal and sukha chicken. For beverage, I ordered a fresh lime soda, which was too sour. Though on request, they added sugar. Soup, I would say was good. It was creamy and subtle. The biggest disappointment was their signature dish chicken cafreal. I even wonder if it was cafreal or something else. It tasted and looked different. The chicken sukha was okay. The service guy was nice and did what he could. Overall, not value for money

First visited this place way back in 1991. Apart from the famous elusive Charles Sobraj- Top Cop Madhukar Zende encounter at this very place (their busts still stand on the very table to mark this historic moment) what i loved is the ambience and superbly crafted food. A bit steep in terms of pricing but good things never come cheap. Would like to make a special mention of “Sunshine Cocktail” a heady mix of Feni, Pineapple Juice and Coconut Cream if i remember it right.. hope they still serve this exilir 🤗

Loved loved loved the place, it's vibe and the whole decor and set up. The food was authentic and extremely delicious. For the quality it offers, it's very affordable as well. The Bebinca cheesecake was out of this world! Definitely coming back here to dine!

Bebinca is good. Tasted papad stuffed prawns and stuffed mushroom. Both the items are deep fried but they’re very oily. We ate only half. Just went based on the reviews as a food lover. The papad was over fried. The taste is not up to the mark. The ambience is great. There is small parking. We can organise small events in the restaurant. The washrooms are well maintained.

A really well designed restaurant having its own legacy. Desserts were not that good compared to the food available here. Service was extremely nice and it's a little steep on the prices compared to other similar places in Goa

Absolutely enjoyed the food here! We travelled from Hyd and we wanted to have some authentic goan food and this place was a hit. Chicken Cafreal, Stuffed Shrimp with Pappad, Broccoli, Fish Curry, Prawns curry were amazing. All my family members really enjoyed the food and had a good time

On the way to the new Manohar airport at Mopa, this is the place to enjoy a good lunch and carry good memories before you fly out of Goa! Nicely designed interiors make for a pleasant time here! The food dishes, particularly the Goan ones (xacuti, vindaloo and cafreal) were really tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there. Availability of cocktails made of Urak only made our time more memorable! The service was also fantastic and, as we requested, everything we ordered was served in quick time. It was definitely worth visiting O Coqueiro and we would definitely love to visit it again during our next trip!

Food was awesome as usual and the service was good. They lost one point as they were haggling with me to add an additional table for a party of 9 and wanted to give me a table to seat just 8. Very petty. The ambience is also lovely with a chance to walk around their back yard.

We read about this place on Google when we were looking for places to have lunch around porvorim in Goa. The rating that Google had was good and we decided to stop by and have lunch. The property is a Portugese inspired structure and had good interior s as well. It wasn too crowded and was calm and a peaceful place to have lunch. We ordered a blue pina as part of the mocktail, crab and asparagus soup as an appetizer which was a chef's special and chicken cafreal with fries and poi as mains. Only one poi is served and u might have to order for extra if u are sharing the main. Everything tasted decent enough.

Amazing Goan experience and authentic food ❤️ The place known for it’s Chicken Cafreal which we had to try. Loved it. Wasn’t very spicy, but delicious. The stuffed squids/calamari was lip smacking. The recheado masala was on point and so was the recheado Mushrooms. The stuffed papad was a bit too oily, but the filling was good. The kaju xacuti with poee was a good choice for the main course. The caramel pudding was tasty and wasn’t too sweet. And the alle belle were the highlight of the night. They were soft and too good 😍 The mocktails were refreshing and nice 🍹 Currently, they also have IPL screening, which is rather enjoyable

The place runs on it's name more like it. Being on the main road, the traffic is a big deterrent to a peaceful time, there is an AC cubicle it's the great outdoors that should beckon. Food is mediocre and the service is excruatingly slow and over priced. That includes the drinks as well, the staff were very pleasant bearers. The parking is good. And if they wish to stay in the business besides running on their legendary name They have to pickup their socks and look around and rediscover themselves.

The place is a bit expensive considerig its menu, funnily the menu had a chef's special cheese cake bebnica thinking it will be worth the taste, what did I find? It was a vanilla icecream on the top of a bebnica (pic attached)!! Such a rude shock!! the other Bebnica we tried was rum inflused bebnica wich was mediocre not worth the price they charge!

O' Coqueiro doesn't need introduction! We wanted to go out for a little Christmas lunch & have something Goan. The restaurant was booked & was quite busy, as expected on a Christmas afternoon. We were about to leave when Piedade noticed my elderly mother with me & did a quick second round to check for any available table & he got us one, which just got free, luckily! I tried the pork ribs & Mum had the fish n chips, which apart from being her favorite, is one of those items she can still relish with her remaining few teeth left! 😅 The dishes were well prepared & surprisingly delivered fast despite the lunch hour rush! A big shout out to Peidade for going the extra mile to accommodate us for a delightful Christmas lunch! Will definitely recommend this place for Goan food, good food overall & the service!

Had just coffee here... Unique thing about this place is Dinner place called Sala de Jantar where Charles Shobraj was caught!!! It's got a rustic portugese ambience.. Right on the national highway..

Amazing fine dine space in the middle of the city. Great service and food. The decor is simple but has the goan feel. Food is also simple pocket friendly and good to eat. A very good family dinner. Here since 1968 and it still stand the test of time.... Kudos to the team... MUST VISIT PLACE

Very good ambience showing the Goa's culture, structure, flooring, garden, roofing etc. This place is historically famous for capturing Charles Shobraj.

Amazing place with great food, ambience and wonderful service. For history geeks, this place is where the Bikini Killer, ‘Charles Sobhraj’ was nabbed. Amazing place.
