We tried the Surmai Tawa Fry, Bombil Rawa Fry, Rawas Masala Fry, Rawas Curry, Rawas Fry and Steam Rice, Vades. Just Super and Authentic Malvani food. You can order just Fish Rassa, if you don't want a curry fish. The Rawas Curry and Surmai Tawa Fry (with a light coating of rawa) was one of the best I've had. Absolutely Amazing. End with a well balanced Solkadi. The ambience is simple and average, but clean. Nothing fancy. Prices are reasonable, considering 'its fish'. They also serve a variety of dishes in Mutton, Chicken and are also famous for their Thalis. Service is fast and the waiters will gladly explain you the dishes in case you enquire. Situated at Panch Pakhadi area of Thane close to the junction.

It's a nice place, usually have to wait for 10-15 min on the weekends, good authentic malvani cuisine. Chicken thali is better than surmai thali, In prawns fry prawns are not cooked well from inside. And in thali I suggest the host to skip Suki machi bhaji. Solkadi, Bhakri, Surmai everything was fresh and awesome. You will not get any Chinese dish here including chicken lolipop. The best thing is that the natural ice cream shop is nearby hotel malvan. The place is a bit noisy as it's a family restaurant. Good place to go with your friends and family to make some more noise. Bon appetite. Adios.

Very delicious Malwani food!! It's reasonably priced. We tried crab, prawns, Bombil, pomfret & shell fish. Loved the taste! It's located at Pachpakhadi & can be easily reached from Thane West station road.

Taste is awesome. Must try prawns tawa fry 😋. The best malvan style food in town as per the crowd. Liquor rates are high than other normal bars. Just need to improve the ingredients of Solkadhi as Garcinia (Kokam) was missing to have that taste. Overall exp was good.

Well this place is strictly for non vegetarians. Good ambience. They serve alcohol too but still comfortable for families. Since i am vegetarian and i was there with friends i had to choose from very few vegetarian options. I would definitely not suggest this for vegetarians and based on my friends feedback, must try for non vegetarians to taste authentic Maharashtrian food. We have been there on Friday evening so had to wait for 15 minutes.

Had ordered Surmai thali , Chicken thali , Teesrya thali and chicken pakoda . Teesrya were very compared to other thalis. In thali you get Rice fish gravy dried prawns gravy fish fry , wada or chapati or bhakri. Fish was ok I would say .

Place has a basic decor and seating. Having heard a lot about this place , decided to visit it. Unfortunately it didn't hold up toy expectations. We had ordered prawns friend and it was good. We had ordered mutton sukha with chapati and the taste was good but half of the mutton pieces were chewy. (inspite of confirming multiple times to if mutton is well cooked while placing the order) The service was sub par. Waiter served us the food with the attitude that he was doing us a favour by serving the dishes. When asked for purified water.. there was no room temperature water available only chilled water (unless you want to buy mineral water).

Hotel Malwan has been my go-to dining destination for over two decades, and I can confidently attest to the consistent quality and delightful taste of their cuisine. Located in the heart of Thane, the restaurant offers a welcoming and homely ambiance, creating the perfect setting for indulging in some of the finest Malwani dishes. Among my personal favorites, the Bheja Sukkha and Mutton Liver Sukkha are absolute must-tries. The Bombil Fry is a delightful delicacy that should not be missed, and their Mutton Bhaat is a true masterpiece. the chicken and various fish items on their menu are equally delectable. If you're a fan of Malwani cuisine, Hotel Malwan is the place to be.

Food is average, service is almost bad. The waiters pay no attention to you, the old person taking orders keeps cursing under his breath. It's almost as u are unwanted in the restaurant. Eating on a roadside stall would be more desirable than such an experience.

    1. Prawns koliwada: Tasty, not spicy. Enjoyed it. 2. Surmai fry: Good portion but the masala was not tasty, just very spicy not flavourful 3. Fish thali: Again it was okay just spicy. Nothing great flavour wise 4. Mutton Thali: The mutton sukha was amazing! Thali was good in size too. Enjoyed it.

Malvan is restaurant more than a bar. It specialises in Maharashtrian (Malvani) fish food. It is a treat for non-vegetarian. Plus point about the place is they also serve Alcohol. Menu is average in price. Fish is always fresh you order anything. Mutton lovers please visit as you can get fresh mutton and you also get Bheja which is finger licking. Alcohol is costly. Service is not so great. You will have to ask the waiter to serve you as they will not do it on their own. It is a place where you will always have waiting, specially on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The catch is get here before 8:30 and you can get in quickly as it gets crowded post 8:30 pm. Overall a good family restaurant and bar for non-veg maharashtrian food lovers and those who want to have couple of drinks while the food is getting served.

Visited recently with my family for dinner. I felt the place is very over rated. Honestly the food was really okayish and we’ve had better Malvani food before. All the thalis had the same Rassa and gravy except for one. The service also was really slow and we had to wait for long. They can really do much better
