The best batter fried cutlet I have ever had all over the world. Thinking about this makes my mouth water all the time. A heritage place to have your evening munches from. It’s a 125years old restaurant. An honour to have it from the place where most of the freedom fighters used to be for evening snacks.

We went there to try their famous prawn cutlet, which is fried in pure ghee. It comes with a side salad (onion, cucumber and boiled potatoes) and you can have it with mustard sauce. It really has a unique taste and we loved it. We had also ordered an egg devil which comes with a twist(the twist being fish eggs along with a normal boiled egg). It seemed kind of sweet in taste and not at all spicy. It's a contrast to the much popular prawn cutlet. Their quality has degraded to be honest. Most of the items are either unavailable or takes much time to prepare. So I would suggest that if you're coming here sooner or later,do try their prawn cutlet, it's the best!

It's a very old cabin at North Calcutta, famous for its unique style of cutlets and fries. They use pure ghee in their food instead of using oil. And the test is undoubtedly great. Price is reasonable. Their mutton steak is recommended. It has a refreshing taste of a bunch of spices which is totally unique. You can't understand until you've it. We also had prawn cutlet and chicken cutlet along with egg devil. Those were also great.

This is a heavenly place for fried food lovers! Every item they serve is soo good, price is reasonable, the seating area is small but very neat and clean. It's 5mins walking distance from Sovabajar metro station. We had ordered Chicken steak, prawn batter fry and fish fry everything was tasty, savory and well-proportioned, But chicken Steak was best among all so unique and flavourful. Highly recommended, would love to visit again

Situated at the heart of North Kolkata, This is one of the most legendary eateries of the city. They serve some Excellent dishes. Prawn Cutlet is the most recommended one. It's great place for having evening snacks. However the seating capacity is limited, so you might have to wait during a busy evening. Takeaway is also available. Food quality is excellent. Hygiene is maintained considering It's a small outlet.

They are famous for their Egg devil and Prawn Cutlet. Egg Devil was really good, it's actually more special than any other. I liked the Prawn cutlet, no doubt about the quality but the quantity wasn't sufficient and satisfying.

I planning to visit this place for long time. Finally visited on a Sunday. As I was not sure so I called here before coming. We tried prawn cutlet , mutton Steak, egg devil and mutton chop. Mutton Steak and prawn cutlet is amazing, never tasted anything like this before.. these are must try. Behaviour is good. There is like 5-6 tables or you can eat outside, there is chairs too. Putting some photos, we have tasted most of the stuff before clicking picture..

A 125 year old heritage restaurant on central Avenue after Girish Park, if you come from Esplanade side. They serve uniquely cooked deep fried items in pure ghee. A small sitting place but clean. Famous for their Prawn Kabiraji and Prawn cutlet which we tasted.....it's just awesome....something out of the world experience. We also tasted Egg Devil ....superb. Real food lovers should experience their grand old cooking uniqueness .

Ghee prawn Kabiraji and Cutlet a must. Mutton and Fish stuffed egg devil is unique. For me the USP is the food is made by an old lady. So it gives a motherly touch. ❤️. Go for it. Located diagonally opposite to the iconic Mitra Cafe.

Food quality has deteriorated ...they have started compromising on their quality of food for more revenue generation it seems. Chicken chop had excessive amount of potatoes ... filling of chicken was extremely less and very salty. It was more like aloo chop not chicken chop. Batter of the prawn cutlet was under cooked and tasteless. Also, the sales person is extremely cunning... he kept on badgering us to get prawn cutlet and not prawn kabiraji just because making kabiraji takes time. Realised it later when he was telling his junior staff not to take orders that take more time and to cater to zomato guys. Service was bad... they were more interested in serving for zomato delivery than those eating at their place. Extremely Bad Experience Beware of the cunning guy at the counter

This old eatery of North Kolkata is indeed a goldmine for the foodies. Their Prawn Cutlet and Fish Kabiraji is deep fried in pure ghee, no doubt a rare culinary nowadays. Besides, the Desi mutton steak is pretty awesome.

Allen Kicthen is apart of Calcutta Heritage. The quality of the fastfood delicacies have enhanced with time, made of pure ghee. Prawn Cutlet, Fish kabiraji are a must. Located in North Kolkata, this culinary destination is now a legendary one. People come back here dipped in nostalgia.

This is a historical and heritage based food place where you get different types of fries items on fish, chicken etc. Quality is little degrade than earlier. Food taste was good. Fish fry is not available most of the times and also the fish kabiraji.

They have a wide array of good cutlets. Their USP being that they provide a few items in pure ghee which is a very rare sight in whole of the cutlet culture of Kolkata. They have some unique items like Chicken or mutton steak, which is a very different preparation than the normal steak. And also their most special item is the PRAWN CUTLET. This is not found anywhere else in kolkata, or maybe it is found but I haven't heard much about it that being said, I.doubt whether there lies a tastier prawn cutlet anywhere else The cutlets are very fresh, and the quality is very good as they come with a limited stock. Overall a good place to experience some of the best cutlets in Kolkata. Highly recommended.

This is a historic restaurant in Kolkata City . The resturant was favourite to Netaji , Vivekananda and host of other great people from Bengal . Its close to 135 years old with many signature dishes . A must for anyone who is looking for typical Bengals fast food with historic connections . Foods are made from best possible ingredients for sure .

Fish kabiraji was amazing. Though deep fried in pure ghee, but it was literally mouth melting to the point where you can't even feel the heaviness of ghee. Well tasted, well cooked. Dine in is small , old fashioned and cozy. Staffs are great and great service.

The authenticity and food quality of this place is beyond question. Sitting area and the kitchen is clean. But a bit overpriced, which it was not even 5-6 years ago. Back then it was an everyday visit of even middle-class. 2ndly, most of reviewers or influencers would say that a dish would make your stomach full, which is not true. We had our lunch at 2.30 pm and visit this place at 5pm and ordered a fish fry and a chicken steak. The bill was 250 (no bill provided). None were big enough to fulfill our hunger (see unedited photo). But they were tasty enough to make us wish for another piece. Overall a must visit for occasion or treats. But for us poor people, it is no longer an every weekend visit.

Heritage eatery, ideal for evening snacks. Fun to watch the team members working together as a family. Very polite behavior and good service. The prawn cutlet, mutton cutlet, egg devil, fish fry etc. are recommended, and best eaten freshly fried. Very close to the Sovabajar Metro station.

Always wanted to visit this place for its well known prawn cutlet fried in ghee. However, I feel the place is a bit too overhyped. Prawn cutlet had more batter than the prawn, were soggy drenching in ghee.. Same goes for the fish batter cutlet. It did not live up to our expection. Heard such wonderful reviews and took my friends there but we were all so disappointed.

  • 5/5 Tanmoy M. 6 months ago on Google
Still maintaining the old charm.. You can have the food outside or can wait till you get a seat inside.. usually a busy place and waiting time is there. Whatever you try, opt for pure ghee option as you will feel the flavour and aroma of ghee and it enhances the taste. Most popular and recommended item is Prawn cutlet with pure ghee.. You can in fact watch when your food is getting prepared.. My rating:- 8.5/10

Exquisite food items which are relatively uncommon these days at restaurants - Prawn and fish batter fry etc.Quality of food is quite good and one gets that "more than a century old" feeling which is invaluable.

This place barely needs any introduction. And this ghee fried prawn cutlet is definitely the top pick of this place. All time favourite.

Nestled within the quaint ambiance of Allen Kitchen, one encounters an atmosphere that could be described as average. While it may not be the most captivating of settings, this unassuming cabin manages to make its mark through the delightful culinary offerings it presents. What truly distinguishes Allen Kitchen are its delectable snack options. Among these, the prawn cutlet and the fish kabiraji, both tantalizingly prepared with the rich and aromatic essence of ghee, emerge as standout items on the menu. These dishes exude a medley of flavors that titillate the taste buds, leaving a lasting impression. One cannot overlook the egg devil with mutton, which stands out as a must-try creation. This dish is a testament to the inventive culinary artistry of the establishment. The fusion of flavors, combining the succulent essence of mutton with the allure of a perfectly cooked egg devil, is a true delight for those who savor unique and imaginative snack options. In sum, Allen Kitchen may not boast the most extravagant setting, but it certainly compensates with its flavorful and creative snack menu. For those seeking an array of distinctive and satisfying flavors, this cozy cabin is worth a visit. Unfortunately, UPI payment is not accepted; only cash is a valid form of payment.

Quality and quantity is good. Behaviour is nice. This is one of the oldest shops running more than 125 yrs. Price is a little extra per serving. One should try here if u are around. Must try kobiraji, katlet, devil. Good thing that they accept online payment.

It's Good, but it has lost its Edge of early years. The owner has compromised with the #FishQuantity and started pouring mixtures of other masala. Due to this, I personally don't get that old taste also.

120 5 year old shop in in North Kolkata serving good quality fried food. We tried the fish kabiraji fried in ghee and chicken cutlet fried in ghee as well. Cons- very small with 4-5 tables and doesn't accept cards, paytm, gpay. Pros- good quality as their use refined oil and ghee. Heritage place.
