A very beautiful temple situated on the top of the mountain. They have 350 odd steps to climb.. in case you going by public transport or your own vehicle, then you can by pass those 200 steps and have to take the rest 150 steps. This temple can be visited anything during the year. Due to its proximity to Lonavala, it has a delightful climate. You can certainly appreciate the beauty of nature as you walk up the steps toward the temple. You can consider visiting during the rainy season as you can find waterfalls, and the entire Ghat is covered with greenery. This makes the landscapes even more glorified.

Very nice and beautiful place with spiritual environment. You will have to walk a lot to get there but when you reach you will be amazed by the views from top of mountains. Karla caves are also very impressive. You will be very happy of you are caves lover. Temple area is well maintained and kept clean. Drinking water available at many locations. Parking area available but road is narrow to get there and steiff turns, you have to be very good in driving.

This review is not for the divine goddess, but more for the experience encountered in reaching to the benevolent Devi. The location of the temple is great. The access road is steep, not recommended for large vehicles, no major issues in trying to find parking on a Saturday. The steps are extremely uneven, broken in some places and very slippery. I daughter fell hard and bruised herself. Three of us also kept slipping in spite of being careful after the fall. The slipperiness is due to the stones being polished smooth due to the crowds, not due to rains. Ideally they should replace it with rough textured stairs. Massive garbage and litter everywhere. This is fault of the devotees but more of Devasthan trustees who are not regulating plastic packaging, not keeping bins, employing litter pickers, or punishing litterers. The whole mountain face looks like a dump. Such a beautiful spot ruined due to apathy and lack of regulation. The queues were long, good seating at periodic intervals, would have been good to switch on the fans earlier, and also make it less like a prison queue with tall barricades ( yes, it is possible to manage mischief mongers and queue jumpers without making the experience feel like punishment for others)

Karla caves and temple are located beside each other. Try to travel early in the morning and during weekdays as it is pretty crowded other time. It has beautiful view from top. Be careful while walking down the steps as it slippery at times.

Aadishakti Ekvira Hindu shrine & major pilgrimage centre is located in the notch of the hill. To reach the temple you need to ascend around 500 steps through stiff rocky stairs & takes an hour in easy way. Legend is that temple was constructed by the Pandavas during their exile. Maa Ekvira is known as mother goddess & self evolved. Temple is small but diety's idol beautiful & has magical powers. Some of devotee offer animals also to fulfill their wishes. Local and people from adjoining states throng during Navratri to worship & to get blessings. It's surrounded by famous Karla cave, which was once a major centre of Buddhism. Ancient times caves add beauty to the temple. It is now protected by Archeological Department. Darshan time is 5am to 9pm. Food & water is available all the way. To avoid long queue for darshan & parking, better to go there, except holidays. It is very close to Lonawala and 60 km.from Pune and around 100 from Mumbai.

The temple premises is not very big. But the view from the top is excellent. One needs to go through a small ghat to climb up the hill. Then, need to take stair paths to climb up to reach the temple. There are so many shops in both sides of staircase. The hill top, where the temple is located, is not maintained properly. Needs improvement. The experience is best during and just after monsoon. Overall, it is a good experience.

Ekvira Devi, often referred to as Renuka Devi, is a revered goddess in Hindu mythology, and her temple in the Karla Caves complex of Maharashtra is a sacred destination of great significance. She is often associated with the warrior goddess Mhaskoba and is revered by the Koli community, a prominent fishing and farming community in the region. Ekvira is believed to be a guardian deity, protecting her devotees from various dangers The Ekvira Devi Temple is nestled amidst the stunning Karla hills, offering a harmonious blend of spirituality and natural beauty. The temple's architecture, with its ancient stone structure and intricately carved pillars, is a testament to the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the region. Devotees from far and wide flock to this temple to seek the blessings of Ekvira Devi, who is believed to be a guardian deity. The climb up the steps to the temple provides a sense of spiritual journey, and the sanctum sanctorum exudes an aura of divine tranquility. Beyond its religious significance, the temple's location provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the lush hills and the serene Pawna Lake. It's a perfect spot for meditation and reflection. The annual Ekvira Devi Yatra, a grand festival, is a vibrant celebration that adds to the temple's cultural appeal. The festivities include rituals, music, and an array of food stalls, making it a delightful experience. In summary, Ekvira Devi Temple is a place where spirituality and natural beauty coexist harmoniously. Whether you're a devotee or a traveler seeking serenity, this temple is a must-visit destination.

Prepare yourself for climbing/trekking to this temple. You have another option to take auto rickshaw till the top stair around half way and then trek remaining half. Auto takes rupees 150-200 one way. You can also visit karla caves just next to temple.

A historic and divine beauty. The temple will give you Ellora caves vibes since it is also carved from gigantic rocks, but you will feel more blessed here. Challenges:- You have to take your vehicle via highly inclined road. On weekend it might take hours to reach the parking point, not because of distance but because of crowd and compact road. After parking your vehicle you have to climb various stairs (no other options), this might make you feel really exhausted. But..... The view when you reach the temple is worth it. There are a few waterfalls, great view from that height, cool atmosphere and etc. Those who are especially going for the temple to take blessings, will not be affected by the stairs or other challenges. Devotees are highly motivated to reach the temple, these challenges will not bother them. Fin.

We found it on our way to Lonavala. Though this is on the hill and it may take 30-40 min to reach the temple on top of the hill but the whole journey/ trekking worth it. You get many shops and food joints on the way to the temple and can have many refresher. I was amazed by the caves and its architecture. The design and overall landscape is amazing. This is one of the very holy place in this area. Better to go there in a winter or normal day.

Adishakti Mata Ekvira Devi Temple is very spiritual and holy place, Specially for Agri & Koli community (Fishermens). It's placed on the Karla hill. This temple was build by Paach Pandav in Mahabharata time zone. You can reach here by bus or train, from lonavla you will get auto. Lots of steps to climb the hill. Also there is a short cut road upto middle. You can visit this place in one day if you are staying in mumbai or nearby. Environment is very spiritual and full of energy. Fresh air, very supportive locals. Lots of shops adjacent to stairs. Which sells different items, from food to fashion and ofcourse devotional things. Lodge facility is also there and some locals gives facility to cook your food (nonveg or veg) for groups or families. Safe place for families with children's. Overall highly spiritual and energetic, refreshing experience. One must visit the place and experience this. "Adishakti Mata Ekvira Devi ki jai" 🙏🙏🙏

The main deity of the temple is Ekvira Aai and she is flanked on the left by Jogeswari Devi. Ekvira Aai is worshipped by Daivadnya Brahmins and she is also the Kul-Devi of the Koli and Sunar Communities. The temple is also frequented by the Aagri-Koli people and the Koli (fishermen)The deity is also worshipped as Renuka and is the Mother of Chiranjivi or the immortal sage Parashurama, an Avatar of Lord Vishnu. The worship is carried on right next to the caves, which was once a major center of Buddhism

I like this place always....Try to avoid visit on weekly off and public holidays as it will take minimum 2 hours to have Darshan on these days.....Take your own food with you and enjoy it under tree....You can buy some sweets as Prasad and local seasonal fruits to eat immediately...Have butter milk on your way to temple, try some small ornaments....Enjoy your day at this place peacefully after 350 steps climbing.... Goddess always blesses us....Stay blessed....👍

Ekvira devi temple is situated along with the Karla Cave of Lonavala. Both of the place is adjacent to each other and holds a massive rich history and culture within. Devotee and the people who just want to visit the Karla cave has to climb a lot many high altitude stairs to reach this place. During monsoon the place is very much eye soothing due to a plethora of waterfalls around the cave and temple. The entry fee for the cave is Rs 25 and maintained by Government of India. The entry is free for the Ekvira devi temple. Along the roads while climbing the stairs you will find shops of various size to offer prayers to the Ekvira devi. If you are a tourist try to avoid the days or occassion of Devi maa to visit this place as the place will boast with the devotees with a long queues.

There is a temple of Ekvira Devi on it and there is also a historical place. In the rainy season, this place looks even better, due to the height of this place, the view there is very beautiful. Most visit this place. By taking a 25rs ticket to visit the historical place, you will get the entry on that place and after that you will be able to enjoy the place there.

This place is a very beautiful place to visit for all types of people. Here you will find a beautiful temple of Aai Ekvira which is situated in a mountain. There is a beautiful cave near the temple. There are some charges (Rs. 35 for residents and for foreigners charges may vary) for visiting that cave. While going upstairs towards the temple you will find many small small shops of sweets and other stuff like sandals/keychain/photo frames/show pieces etc. You will also find small stalls of butter milk/lemon juice/cucumber/steamed whole peanuts etc. While going to karla you can also enjoy or visit the khandala spots. One must visit this place. Peaceful and beautiful.

Ekvira devi temple infront of Chaityagruh Leni in Karla. The Ekvira Aai Mandir is a Hindu temple located near the Karla Caves near Lonavala in Maharashtra, India. Here, the worship of the goddess Ekvira is carried on right next to the caves, once a center of Buddhism. The temple is a prime spot of worship for the Aagri and Koli people. The temple-complex originally consisted of three similar shrines built in a row all facing west. Of these, the central and the southern shrines are preserved in full, and the rest of the structures are preserved only on plan. The maha-mandapa, varsha-mandapa and gopura are situated in front of these three shrines and these three shrines are surrounded by sixteen shrines of additional parivara devatas. The devotees throng the temple on all occasions of Navaratri and Chaitra Navratra to worship and celebrate. It is believed that the goddess has magical powers. The temple is on a hill. One needs to ascend around 500 steps to reach the temple. It is surrounded by the Karla caves, which are now protected by the Archeological department. While the main deity is Ekvira, she is accompanied by a murti of Jogeshwari Devi.

Aadishakti Aai Ekvira Devi holds a revered place among hindu devotees. This temple at Karla stands as a testament to hindu devotion and cultural richness, making it a highly revered destination for those seeking Maa Durga’s blessings. The surrounding cave architecture adds to the spiritual and serene surroundings and gives uplifting experience. There is no provision for lift /escalator for pregnant woman, elderly and handicapped people. Temple Management should seriously look into this asap.

I must say not much maintained especially parking management is disastrous. My wife & me both had been saved by others while climbing & going down from slip & falling down. The main disaster was both time we were holding our 10 month baby girl one by one so our baby girl was lucky two times despite my wife's one leg fully twisted & almost baby girl touched to the ground. Imagine stairs are not safe at all for kids and old age ones!
