Small 45 minute hike with newly made stairs till halfway and ancient rock cut stairs supported by railings further till the top. Difficulty level medium and endurance level easy. There are many things to see on the fort including, Pushkarni with Shankar mandir, Saptmatrika(Group of 7 interconnected water tanks), ancient rock cut caves, Chavanda Devi Mandir, Sadar, one cannon, and many other things. The caves can easily accomodate around 20 people and it remains dry even during peak monsoon. Beware of monkeys.

Easy one day trek. You can go by public transport to the base of this fort. It is very near from junnar (shivneri fort). There is only one small hotel at the base. Easy to climb. There are steps half way and railing, so that we can easily climb hard patch. There are 2-3 lakes on the fort. Chavand Devi temple, sadar - where we can stay overnight. Good trek in winter and summer. Good to Trek with family and groups. Many forts can be seen if clear weather. The place is so calm and beautiful. Try to catch small amazing things on the fort.

Great and safe short trek to visit with family and friends.. Continue along Naneghat road and take a detour near Chawand village.. You also get home cooked veg and non veg food at the footsteps.. 4 km further is an ancient temple worth a visit called Kukdeshwar

Good fort to visit. Stairs are built and maintained so that people can visit. Liked the water tanks and Chavanda Devi temple at the top. When I visited this fort in the month of December. Grass (Grass like plants) are taller than average person height. It was enough to scare for a moment knowing that we are in Junnar and Leopard 🐆 spotting is normal here.

Chawand Fort, also known as Prasannagad Fort, is a historically significant site with impressive architecture, panoramic views, and water management systems. It housed the Chawanda Devi Temple and featured a clever Water Kund for self-sustainability. The fort's rich history and cultural elements make it a must-visit destination.

Fort with documented history from year 1500, steep climb which is now made easier due to railings. A great adventure and nature at its best in monsoon

Chavand ( Marathi: चावंड किल्ला) is a hill fortress situated 30 km from the modern-day town of Naryangoan in Junnar Taluka of Pune district in Maharashtra, India. The fort, which rises 1,036 meters (3,399 feet) above sea level, is located in the Sahyadri mountain range. The fort was looted and destroyed by the British upon siege. This is one of the forts known as the 'Famous 5'. Chavaand, Hadsar, Shivneri, Jivdhan and Naneghat form the Famous 5 trek. The fort has remnants of construction that are more than 800 years old. Village of Chavandwadi lies at the base of the fort. Founder of Nizam Dynasty, Nizam Ahmed was the first Nizamshah who acquired the fort of Chavand after the dissolution of the Bahmanid Empire. The seventh Nizamshah was Burhanshah II. Bahadurshah's grandson was imprisoned 1594 and was taken away to this fort.[1] Bahadurshah is the nephew of Chandbibi. In 1636, the Mughals got the fort of Chavand by signing a treaty with the Nizams. On 1 May 1818 the British forces captured the fort [2]

Great for beginners. 70% passage of the trek is of stairs. Should be maintained more in order to preserve otherwise in some years the place will vanish.

It's a short and easy trek except for one dangerous passage. Fort is blessed with a serene Shiva temple. These heritage sites need more attention from government.

The fort is located in Junnar. A short trek, took about 30 mins to reach the top. Fort is densely covered in tall grass. Some water bodies and caves are worth seeing. Another short hike leads to Chavandi devi temple on the fort.

A historic fort which gives an overwhelming experience about its Creation as well its existence. It was used mainly for imprisonment of political prisoners is nizamshahi regime and thereafter. Temple at top testifies the blessing of the goddess to the occupants.

Beautiful place for trekking and camping. The villagers are also good. We had amazing food at the base at a hotel which was run by a villager. It was a great experience. There are many more spots nearby like naneghat, jivdhan, kukdeshwar, etc. You can also explore them in your trip. All in all a very nice place to go.
