One of the best homestays in Kodaikanal! Nestled right above the Kodaikanal lake, in the middle of the town, the property is easily accessible. But it is quiet, calm and peaceful. The property is beautiful and has great views of the surrounding mountains and the lake. We stayed at the wooden chalet. The room was top-notch, at par with some of the best four and five-star resorts in Kodaikanal. In fact, I felt the room and facilities were better than renowned brands like Sterling where I've stayed before. The hosts Arjun, his wife and kid are so friendly and warm. But they still give you your privacy. The caretakers are excellent and take care of all your needs including food. The food, it has to be said, was scrumptuous and affordably priced. The home-cooked food was so good throughout our stay. The Wi-Fi was perfect and I could even get some work done during the day. We would love to come back here again. Our week-long stay was one of the best vacations as a family.

A PERFECT COMFY STAY @KODAIKANAL The best place to stay in Kodaikanal near lake. This Lakeview cottage is located on the old upper lake road. The property provides two individual wooden chalets with attached bathrooms for family and they also have another villa for a group. They served us with welcome drink on arrival. The property is very neatly maintained by the hosts. The hosts reside there itself. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. The wooden chalets provide a very awesome view of the lake. The rooms are neat and spacious. Bathrooms are very clean with 24hrs hot water supply. They also provide a good variety of delicious vegetarian and non vegetarian homely made food varieties. If you don't want food from them, they are also ready to suggest some good restaurants out in kodaikanal. They have an in house chef cum caretaker "Shekar", he is very helpful and friendly. They also conduct campfires, if we need the campfire to be private it can also be arranged by them. The property has an ample amount for parking our vehicles safely. They also have a private mini garden to which we get access when we check in. The hosts are very friendly and the hospitality is upto the mark. The property makes us feel much relaxed and we will definitely miss our stay and the property for sure when we check out. I strongly recommend this place for my fellow travelers to just try to stay in kodaikanal at Avantara Lakeview Cottage for a great memorable experience. You guys will surely love the stay no doubt.

The view and hospitality was Just amazing! It is walkable distance from Lake may be 1.5km. Wood house is warm enough even in cold nights. They supply heaters (minimal charge)/hot water bags if it's too cold. Food needs to be ordered early but was great. We ordered chicken curry with rice, egg fried rice, paneer curry, veg meals. All were good but chapathis were bit hard. For breakfast, Idly and dosa are must try. They also provided hair drier, kettle, water filter, extra blankets. They even provided campfire and a speaker with no extra charges. The host was very warm and friendly :)

Simply wonderful! The location is so serene and calming. The rooms are perfect, maintained very cleanly and have a nice cooling effect. The property is a vast one with the owners staying in the same compound. Have to mention that they are one of the sweetest people we have met in all these years of traveling. Great hosts and so intuitive help everytime. For the context here, kodai used to be open to rental self drive bikes and cars before 2019. Now you have to be dependent on local taxis or own vehicles which you drive down to kodai. The bargaining and good word to ensure our safety was all done by Avantara. They don't charge exorbitant prices and they maintain their standards through out the journey of booking their place till we leave from Kodai. A very beautiful garden and a 150+ years British made structure is also there. The support staff are very cordial. Overall, a home away from home is the feeling that you get out of Avantara.

This was a very good cottage type stay. Wife and I loved it very much. Pros 1. Very near to city centre 2. Major sightseeing points are accessible 3. A different kind of staying experience (sort of tree house type) 4. Nice food which is tasty, economical and timely as well 5. Services like the hairdryer, kettle, tea kit, extra blankets and mattresses were unexpected and brings a smile 6. It is super clean 7. Friendly and supportive host 8. Covered car parking Cons 1. Since it's fully wood, any sound from outside/neighbouring room is directly transmitted to your room. 2. It becomes hot during day and requires open door/window type ventilation and becomes freezing cold during nights 3. I think this was a labor related oversight - drinking water supplied had suspended particles and we had to filter it with a cloth to drink it. But I would strongly recommend this place and myself being a regular un Kodai, would love to stay again here.

We had an amazing stay at Avantara. Remarkable service. The rooms comes with basic amenities and toiletries. Geyser, fan, TV etc. Internet speed is good, better than any 5 star stays. There's some open space to sit and walk around. Bonfire is arranged on extra payment. The caretaker, Shekhar is quite helpful. Homely food is provided. All chicken curries are under ₹200 and tea/ coffee at ₹35. Sufficient portion for 2. Open Parking is available at the property. Con: The only thing that I can think of is the compromise in privacy and isolation that you want at a hill station stay. We stayed in one of the rooms in the wooden chalet. If you are a bigger group then booking both the rooms would make it perfect. Occupying just the one room makes you and the folks staying in the adjacent room open to TV noise and the wood creaking noise too.

The best place to stay in Kodaikanal near Lake. Nice and pleasant vibe home stay for family. Awesome hospitality and food. They have a in house chef, he's very friendly and helpful. Bathroom is very very clean and 24hrs hot water supply.

Absolutely fantastic accomodation with a great view for a super reasonable price. The hosts are amazing as well and have a lot of good recommendations and stories. Would also recommend ordering Indian food from their in-house chef.

Simply the best Woodhouse located nearby lake. This was our first experience to stay in a wooden house. Top class clean management which is above expectations. Only 2 separate bedrooms are here but if you visit here as a family you can use the interconnecting doors. Must try once which is also under budget. They are ready to serve tasty home food at affordable price.

One of the best place to stay in Kodaikanal. I went with my friends for my birthday. We had a very good time there . Wooden cabins are soo clean and cosy surrounded by green landscapes. I really loved the vibe which I get there in early morning with sounds of small birds.Their hospitality was amazing . We ordered food for dinner which is soo good and its a proper homemade food. We can enjoy the view of Kodai lake from cabin . Mrs.Sreepriya is soo kind and she really cares for the guests. This property is safe and valuable for money.
