Going to Belgaum is incomplete without visiting it's less travelled beautiful places and a place on our bucket list was Gokak falls, It is a 2.5 hour drive from belgavi city. Driving through the village roads and through lush green fields of rice and sugarcane was a very good rural experience,on reaching there we were happy to see the Falls from a hill,in the summer months the flow of water is less. One of the exciting thing about visiting the waterfall is not just seeing it but walking through the river by a walking cable Bridge,I can say the bridge is quite sturdy and strong. The bridge was closed and wasn't open because of the pandemic but I hope the Belgavi government opens the brige for visitors post pandemic. We managed to walk through the bridge later we went down the rocks to cross the cool streams of water and feel the scenic beauty of the fall. It was one of a kind Experience after all!

Gokak Falls is 6 km away from Gokak town and gets its name from the Goki trees found in abundance in these areas. It resembles the Niagara Falls due to its features like the fall, shape etc. Here, River Ghataprabha takes a leap of 52 metres over the sand-stone cliff amidst a picturesque gorge of the rugged valley, making a beautiful sight. This place has the credit of generating electricity for the first time in the country in about 1887. A prime attraction of the Gokak Falls is the hanging 200-m-long bridge that lies 14 m above the bedrock. Tourists can also visit monuments on both sides of the rocky gorge which include temples of Goddess Durga, Lord Shanmukha and Lord Mahalingeshwara built in the traditional Chalukyan style of architecture. Reasons to visit Gokak Falls: Hanging Bridge: Built across the river, 200 meters long, gives an elevated view of the falls. Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple, built-in Chalukya style architecture. Kemple Park botanical gardens Yogi Kolla hiking: A popular trekking destination 3 kms from the falls. Mallaprabha Boating: Boating options in Markandeya river, 8 kms from the Falls More temples: such as Yogikolla Mallikarjuna Temple, Kariyamma Temple, Laxmi Temple, Hanuman Temple n more. Nearby:  Godachinmalki waterfalls (13 kms from Gokak Falls) and Saundatti Yellamma (73 kms) are often visited along with the Falls. How to reach Gokak Falls: The Falls is 622 kms from Bengaluru and 62 kms from Belagavi. Belagavi is the nearest airport and major railway station. Belagavi is well-connected by air, rail and road to rest of Karnataka. From Belagavi taxi can be hired to reach Gokak falls. Stay: Gokak city, 6 kms away, has budget hotels. Belagavi city has more hotel options.

This is the 6th time that I am visiting this falls, Just a refreshing day by visit this place during rainy season. With family you can make your holiday enjoyable. The Gokak Falls is located on the Ghataprabha River in Belagavi district of Karnataka, The waterfall is six and a half kilometers away from Gokak town. There are lot of local vehicles, that take you to waterfalls, or also you can take govt. Bus. Generally ideal season to visit Gokak Falls is from July to Oct.

Beautiful place. Best time to visit july end or any time in rainy season. From belgaum 2 routes are there, via Hidkal and via Ankalgi. Go with Hidkal only if u want to visit Hidkal dam else go with Ankalgi route for better road condition and less distance. Rare tip : Entry to the view point have temples and one old mill also. Apart from this just opposite side of this across the river there is another view point which is not that maintained but the view of the fall is great from there. Get locals help to reach there.

Beautiful waterfall with a great view! This waterfall holds immense historical significance as it was here that electricity was first generated in India, in 1887. Advisable to visit during the monsoon season to witness the waterfall in its full glory. There are guards on patrol preventing people from going to the edge of the waterfall. Better maintenance and development of the place around the waterfall could attract more visitors.

Gokak waterfall is very beautiful and resembles to Niagara waterfall. It is one of the hidden gem near Belgavi India. This place is also famous for Kardant (sweet) and Gokak textile mill. Gokak textile mill has factory outlet which has wide variety of good quality items such as towels, tshrits , pants, carpet and many more at a lucrative price point.

Gokak Waterfall, situated in the Indian state of Karnataka, is a breathtaking natural wonder that captivates visitors with its raw beauty and serene surroundings. This majestic waterfall is formed by the Ghataprabha River as it cascades down a rugged gorge, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that has earned it the nickname "Mini Niagara of India." The Gokak Waterfall is an emblem of the unspoiled charm of nature. Its sheer drop of about 170 feet into the chasm below creates a thunderous roar that resonates through the lush greenery. During the monsoon season, when the river is in full flow, the waterfall is at its most impressive, with a colossal volume of water crashing down. The surrounding landscape adds to the allure of Gokak Falls. The verdant hills and the dense forested areas create a serene atmosphere, making it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers. The viewing platform near the falls offers an excellent vantage point to witness this natural marvel up close. Apart from its natural beauty, Gokak also holds historical significance. The town of Gokak itself is known for its textile industry and historical landmarks like the Gokak Mills. The old suspension bridge, known as the Gokak Bridge, adds a touch of nostalgia to the scenery. Gokak Waterfall is not just a feast for the eyes but also a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's a place where one can connect with nature's grandeur and find solace in the soothing sound of rushing water. Whether you're a nature lover, an adventurer, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, Gokak Waterfall is a must-visit destination that leaves a lasting impression on all who behold its splendor.

Its just 2 to 2.5 hours of drive from belgaum. The best part is you have good parking space outside the falls. You can spent hours in this beautiful place to enjoy the beauty of the water falls. Its the prettiest and with the great view. Their an old hanging bridge which is closed now for public and used by old gokak textile industry. There are resturanrs near the waterfalls and also gokak textile market which sell cotton cloths.

We had a Kerala Trip through Gogaga Holidays last week. It was our best trip ever. They were always in touch with us throughout the trip and proactively made sure that we will not have any problems during the trip. The hotels they arranged for us was the best & vehicle and the driver was too good. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip . Thank you for making our trip memorable.
