Kohoj fort is amazing place for trekking for beginners and moderate trekkers. The climbing journey takes about 1:30 to 2 hrs depending upon the route and weather condition. From the base there are different routes so you may need little guidance from a local till first Checkpoint, then after the route is clearly visible and we can go on our own. Most people prefer camping there so that in evening they get see the sunset and then sunrise in the morning. We did the same but we missed the sunset as we started late so you make sure to start early to get amazing view of sunset. Place has ancient water tanks filled with water . There small temple on the top . Mostly people prefer to put their tents and camping near the temple as there is even one clean drinking water tank. But there place even around the temple that you can explore. At night you can get amazing view of night Sky with all the stars. Even you can see light of houses at the bottom. Then from there route to the actual fort starts, the fort is not in good condition but the top place is very nice for sunrise view and taking amazing photo shoots. There are 2-3 spots where you can take photos, one is stone pillar at top, second is the rock near it which has a flag, third is a rock structure where the rocks are kept one upon other, this is located below the rock pillar I mentioned earlier, from here you can get amazing view of sunrise and you can even see the lake. Overall it's an captivating experience.

1st about how to reach here - Board a train towards Dhanu, and get down at Palghar, from Palghar railway station walk towards Palghar Bus depot (800 meters) easily wakable. Get down at Vaghote bus stop which is the base village for the Kohoj fort hike.(40 rs per person is the bus ticket) get a guide from the village compulsory as there are few random left and rights which aren't noticeable to us but the local people know the trail. the hike is big almost 3-4 hours, have sufficient water and nutri bars you will need it. during monsoon you will come across waterfalls, superbly scenic areas. before reaching the summit there is a huge flat platue which has Lord Mahadev and Lord Hanuman temple, they are restored and look beautiful with the green landscape in background. enjoy the attached pictures. ;)

Car's can be parked in the base village at the beginning of the trail

Amazing trek, includes patches of trails, rock climbing and steps. The top offers a breathtaking view of the Manor-Wada road and surrounding mountain ranges. The base village (Vaghote village) is easily accessible from Palghar Station by bus or shared autos. The trek is pretty easy and will take you around 3 hours. Finding the route is not very easy so you have to look out for arrows and markings. You get to see fortifications, temples and water tanks.

One of the best treks in Palghar. The mountain is huge and it takes about 3 hours to climb. The trail is well marked with arrows. Please carry lots of water and food while hiking. Please keep environment clean and enjoy your trek

I found this trek quite hard, as it was one of the very first treks I've had, I thought I would never finish this trek because, it felt quite tough. It's very important to pack very little while attempting treks for novice trekkers, While walking towards the top, the lack of breeze can have you feeling breathless and in sweat in no time, having helpful n understanding teammates are always an asset, n try to not finish all your water while attempting to climb. Your legs might pain for about 48 hrs post the trek, and you might also sleep soundly for a very long time. The magical sunrise time starts from 6.30am to 7.45am. The morning sunrise is beautiful, and will keep your spirits high for a long time..it's advisable to carry little food to munch on while watching the sun peeking out, but being extremely careful about not littering the place in any way. the villagers living around the area are friendly and offer good homemade tasty meals.

Kohoj fort lies on the northern side of Maharashtra on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. The fort is around 3,200 ft in altitude from sea level. Built by the Bhoj dynasty, the fort was about 800 years old; however, later, the Portuguese captured this fort. As per the history books, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj surrendered 22 forts to the Mughals on 11 June 1665 under the Treaty of Purander, and Kohoj fort was one of them. The fort was used as a watch tower for the surrounding coastal area; The fort is now destroyed & abandoned for a long time. The trek is a must-do for every trek because of the scenic route & the moderate challenge it offers. The trek is one of the underrated Sahyadri treks; if going during the winter, you will find the entire trail for yourself on most days.

Takes around 2½ to 3hrs to reach the top. Height of the fort is 3200ft from the base...Medium-hard level treak. Do carry water & light snacks but not too much luggage as it may drain your energy as the way to the fort is exhausting. It is slippery during monsoon but the view is amazing though. Have a good time

Difficulty: Medium to Tough Route : Has a ribbon marked trail , very less crowded. Avoid taking the base village mapped on Google as it leads to a longer trail not well mapped. Food and Beverages : There are no outlets or stalls put by villagers on this trail however base village has some locals offering home food Crowd : Less popular and good of crowd even on weekends View : This has a temple on top and a Shivaji Maharaj statue installed at the top.

Slipper climb and descent but the plateau at the top was worth it. Couldn't find a way to the very top where the temple. Saw lots or wildlife and the path was rife with mosquitoes so carry repellent and lots of water, a cap and possibly a change of clothes. Good shoes are a must. The way to the fort is from Shelte Village.

Amazing experience, we started our climb from Galtare village, took us around 2hrs to reach the top, better to fill our bottles at base village as directly after 2 hours you will get water (water tanks at top)

(Translated by Google) Kohoj Fort is a fort located near Kanchad village in Palghar district. There is still a lot to see on the fort, there are water tanks, the main gate is fortified, there is a temple of Goddess Kohijai, friends, if you have time, visit this fort once. Trek to Kohoj Fort is simply amazing! Situated at a height of 3200 feet, the view from the top is mesmerizing. The trek is tough and must only be undertaken under the guidance of a professional guide. You get nothing from base to top, even after reaching top... as the entire trek is through a dense and lovely forest. So you better carry lots of drinking water and some food to eat at the top (you'll be damn hungry by the time you reach the top). Shoes with solid grip and good friends to chat with are a must to enjoy this trek. The Kohoj Trek must be on the list of all trek-lovers! Highly recommended!

Trek is not that difficult but it takes around 2:30 to 3 hours to reach at top. Drinking water is available at top. You can have a stay at top but you'll have to take your own camp things.

The trek might be felt hard for the beginners. Its between medium to hard climb upwards can be called as jungle trek The path is 80% rocks and 20% trails so be ready for it Routes are marked with arrows but remember missing one arrow can cost you a lot in effort and time Keep your spirits high as reaching the top requires Atlast talking about the view is mesmerizing. Quite worth of all the climb

Went on 08 of this month and was my first time here, our group has parked vehicles at Aai Ajoba resort and started our walk from there itself, else you can also drive up to the base camp point located abutting the large lake where camping facility is available on pay per person basis, it will reduce around 1.8km distance. The actual trek starts at the end point of lake and top is around 5km from here with trek path almost being completely covered with trees (except for Plateau area) on both sides giving you enough shade even in hot condition. There is large Plateau region at halfway en route climbing where you could see shiv mandir, due to dry season the grass dried up completely and gave the area golden color which was very beautiful sight to see. You can get clean water stored in ponds just before the final ascend and Fort gate, there is nothing special to say about Fort except for gate, storage ponds and rock at top Views from top are good, especially V-shaped smaller mountain view from man shaped rock at the top. It took around 3hours for our group to ascend from resort to top and coming to difficulty level it is easy with no steep gradients and person with decent fitness level can climb without any issues The start point of mud road is just 300 m from Aai Ajoba resort and correctly marked in gmaps Would visit again here next monsoon 🙂

Its a tiresome trek thru prestine forests and treacherous mountains with beautiful scenic views all around ! Recommended to hire a local guide to avoid getting lost in the dense forest while travelling thru lush green bushes and narrow edges. But the view from fort top is really worth all the efforts. Many small small Shiv mandir, Hanuman mandir and more interestingly Vishnu mandir along with 3-4 water reservoirs are seen on top. The water is said to be potable and we tried it for the dire need of water in hot sun. Its was so chilled and really good to taste too. Overall, if u want to have an off road, jungle trek - this trek is definitely worth a go.

We planned to do Asherigadh Trek but unfortunately due to COVID-19 pandemic villagers did not allow us to do the trekk. So I checked my google maps wish list saved locations and decided to do Kohoj Fort Trek. It is hardly 16 kms away from Asherigadh. We took exit from highway at Tenn naka and after 9 kms we parked our bikes and started our journey by walking. It take nearly 2 hours 30 mins to 3 hours while ascending the trek. I would recommended to do Kohoj Fort Trek in monsoon and winter. You can also do camping at Kohoj. Attractions: 1. Kohojai Mata Temple 2. There are 3 Water bodies at this Fort 3. Peak point of the fort is beautiful and very peaceful.

Visited Kohoj Fort a year ago in the month of August 2019. It is one of the least explore trek by the trekkers. And of a kind and impressive trek to do. Easily accessible from Palghar Railway Station. You can board MSTRC buses Palghar to Paithan(Maharashtra) or by private vehicle which goes towards Wada and get down on the spot. You can see in the below picture the fort can be easily seen from main road. The trek is very explorable and impressive, best time to visit is monsoon and winter. Duration to reach at the top 2 to 2:30 hrs. This fort provide you abundance of place on the top and you can't explore it one day 😂. It has a small water stream/ water fall in the way. Difficult level: Medium. Beginner can do it no problem. I have done many treks and will recommend this to be on your list if you're looking for a good trek.
