We visited this place on Monday but still there was a lot of rush during our visit. Parking area in this place was very crowded. This place depicts the heritage of Sikkim and local traditional dress, food, way of living, jwellery, tradition, farming techniques and much more. You can also get to dress in Sikkim's traditional dress and get a photoshoot. But I felt it was quite dear. Rs 100 per person and that too without print of the foto. We paid rs 250 for a click in the dress. You can visit the museum too.

We had been to this emporium during our visit to Gangtok. The handicrafts are lovely and made to keep the traditions and heritage of their region alive. Very spacious and government managed. Prices are decent. Photography is banned inside the emporium. Only cash payments are taken like most places in Gangtok. Opposite the sales emporium there is also a crafts museum in the first floor. You should visit that as well as there is some fine artefacts kept for viewing. A ticket of Rs.10 is charged for entry and no photography is allowed here as well. Ample parking is available here. Make time to visit these places while at Gangtok. Keep clean & stay Green !

One of the premier institutes in the region which aims to skill the youth of today in the art of Handicrafts and Handlooms. The building is spread across two levels - the upper level which houses the museum, and the rooms where classes and manufacturing are in progress, and the lower level which houses the sales counters. If you are looking to buy authentic Sikkimese costumes and accessories with Tibetan touch, this is the place. However the only issue we faced is that the lift in the building was not working and therefore it was difficult for elders in the family to descend the steep stairs to go to the sales section. However, vehicles can access the road in front of both levels, so that takes care of the problem a little bit. I was happy to buy the Sikkimese hat and my wife got a mini bag meant to hold her cellphone - check them out in the photo!

It's a good place if you want to see the local products and handicrafts of Sikkim. It's small but worth noticing the cultural heritage of Sikkim.

Nice place. Very nicely decorated and well maintained in terms of cleanliness. Dozens of different types of textiles and a variety of handlooms from places like - Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, Manipur, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, etc. Would recommend visiting this place if you're interested in handlooms.

So I have been to this place many times and its a institution where the government engages people in different skills and handicrafts by providing training and then employing them. You can see the workers weaving carpets and fabric in the looms or chipping wood in the sculpting workshops on the upper level. There is also a small museum with the various displays for which you need to get a ticket. One can buy various artifacts on the floor below like handmade woven bags and pouches. There are also different fairs and exhibitions held regularly on the grounds. However the place needs a good clean up and proper maintenance like most government offices.

Good place to buy hand crafted products. There were some students who were learning this hand crafting under some teacher. If you love to see how carpet, shawl n all are woven then this is best place. You will get the generic idea. There is β‚Ή15 entry fee. Which is worth to give to see their efforts for handcraft.

Not at all attractive for tourists. There are hand made carpets, dolls, toys, bags, showpieces, etc. If you are fancy of handicrafts and want to purchase such item, then u can go there, else it's useless. Pay and Use Toilet facility is there. If you are going out for local sight scene, then don't go there. Tour operators may include that as a site for visit, but insist the operator to skip this site. It's not worthy of visiting by paying the tour operator or cab driver.

As I understood, this place has a lot of tourists. But frankly speaking there is almost nothing to see. I'm sure Sikkim has a rich cultural and traditional sourses. But what you can see there - 2 or 3 counters with so limited items. Museum with 20 years old heritages - also astonishing. Yes, I had better expectation. I came to handcraft centre to be inspired, and if fact it's opposite :)) And I'm sure it's possible to handle in amazing way. In centre of Singtam in restaurants are better and older cultural exhibits. Why museum / handcraft centre looks so frustrating?! Ah yes, parking is terrible.

This is a organization of government of Sikkim. This is also a tourist attraction for visitors. Here you can see different types of items made through handicrafts. It is situated near zero point rajbhawan. You can also visit by tracking here from MG market ( approx 1 km , time taken-10-15 minutes).

You will definitely be mesmerized by the variety of things that can be made using bamboo alone. Hand-made papers(β‚Ή30per page), diaries, bamboo water bottles, etc. Also one can witness the process of making these crafts.

A must visit to know more about sikkim's history and art and culture. It's beautiful and reasonable. You can also see some of the students live working on the traditional ways of weaving clothes and shawls.

We must all visit this place and support them, we saw the classes going on and how the students learn to make different handicraft items. It feels happy to know so many disabled children are learning to earn a living and will soon live an independent life.

Visited here with Mom and aunty last week. Sadly not too many options to see.

Totally not worth the visit. Has entry of 20 per person and nothing great to see in the museum or cottage industry display. In museum they have artefacts of Buddhist importance which one can find on display at the Namgyal institute of Tibetology and Rumtek monetary too.. the cottage in. Showcases how the famous carpets and paintings are made and it’s unlike the normal. Unless one’s interested in art will not recommend it! πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

Nice pieces here, no particularly large works for sale. Museum nearby with amazing pieces. And nearby workshops with apprentices working on handicrafts like woodworking, weaving carpets, etc.

The place is good for visiting local handicrafts of Sikkim. If you are wishing to buy something local handcrafted then you can check out this place as well. It has nearly about 3-4 rooms in total which displays handicraft items like rugs, mats, toys, traditional Sikkim clothes, bags and many more items.

A place of heritage archive where one gets acquainted with the North-east Indian culture at its best! They have a dedicated small museum preserving all sorts of artifacts, there are traditional thangka and textile workshops in separate departments. I strongly recommend to the art & culture enthusiasts, pay a visit here at least once in a lifetime!

Good to know that places like these exist where traditional skills are taught to the new generation. The carpets are really nice and so are the bamboo lampshades. People in the store are also very friendly. The organisation however is chaotic with random directions, an obstacle path to go from.point A to B

Beautiful handicraft. The museum can be explored in just 15 min. Indeed it's expensive since they have handmade products. But you can find reasonable price for sling bags or hand purses or decoration material below Rs 250.
