Ordnance Club at Hastings, Kolkata is a historic Regimental Institution of the Army Ordnance Corps and is one of the oldest and prestigious sports Clubs of Kolkata. This is a proprietary Institution owned and managed by Ordnance Services Officers Welfare Society (OSOWS) and hence the name Ordnance Club. Consequent to the formation of Board of Ordnance on 08 April 1775, a recreational centre was created in the Hastings area in Kolkata, which was managed by Ordnance Officers. This was later established as a Club in 1907, with the objective of enhancing espirit-de-corps among AOC officers and promotes sports and cultural activities. The Club Rules were approved by the Government in 1927. When the Club was first constituted, the members were mostly British officers, British Warrant Officers and Indian Army Officers. A few elite civilian officers and officers of DGOF were also permitted to be members of the Club. After 1947, the Club opened its membership to other civilians of various social strata on a restricted scale. All serving and retired officers of Army Ordnance Corps are Life Members of this Club. In addition, Defence Service and senior Central and State Govt Officers in Kolkata are also granted station and tenure based Service membership. Ordnance Club is predominantly a Sports Club with facilities for Badminton, Billiards, Snooker, Squash, Tennis, Swimming, Table Tennis, Cards and Gym with excellent training facilities and infrastructure. The Club regularly conducts various State Ranking tournaments besides organising various cultural and entertainment programmes and events for the members. Keeping pace with changing times, Ordnance Club braced modernity however retaining the old charm in more ways than one. The Main building, wooden floored ball room, lush green lawn and the entire establishment amply reflects the rich Army Club Heritage and legacy with the emphasis on discipline, sports and quality entertainment. Ordnance Club is an important landmark in Hastings, Kolkata-700022, located on the Commissariat Road in close proximity to the illustrious Princep Ghat and Fort William area. Being centrally located, taxis are readily available from all parts of the city. Distance from Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International Airport is 30 Kms and the driving time is approximately 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the traffic condition. The distance from Howrah Railway Station is 6 Kms and from Sealdah Railway Station, it is 8 Kms. The club is just 3 km from the busy Park Street and walking distance from Strand Road, which affords 24x7 connectivity by Bus, local trains and taxis. Being close to Babu Ghat, Ferry across Hoogly and Interstate Private Bus services are also available.

Great place for socializing, this club is a great place for get togethers of army officers and their families. Amazing ambience, food is delicious and hot drinks are also available at a subsidized prices.. this place also displays the pride of army ordnance corps officers who won gallantry awards. Each officer's citation is displayed in the dining room. I have been here many a times and i love this place.

Spacious place to host your family and friends for occasion and get togethers. The services like tennis courts, swimming pool and bar is restricted only for members but others will surely like the place. The food was super tasty, do try out the veg and non veg starters they were the best. The club is has ample parking place.

The club with amazing food. The club has green spaces, swimming pool, badminton court etc. Its a members only club and you need a member to be present if you want to enjoy the facilities as a guest. The most outstanding feature is its small bites like mini samosa, paneer tikka, corn cheese balls, paneer chilly etc.

Nice club located in Kolkata. Membership required for entry. Has good sports facilities for members. Both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant offers excellent food. Chinese cuisine is excellent as is Indian cuisine. Adequate parking available. Staff is efficient and courteous.

Lots of amenities like swimming pool, tennis, badminton, basketball etc. However swimming is closed due to covid. 6. Newly opened saree and clothes shop if you are interested. 7. Membership entry only allowed, no outsiders allowed. However you can bring in guests or can go as a guest if you know someone who has membership. 8. Pre booking is allowed for dining. 9. Lots of shows nd events happen from time to time. 10. Ample parking is available, but no valet parking. 11. Membership monthly cost is low but dont know exactly how much it costs to get a membership. 12. Bad thing: not much desserts available here and management is not so good for taking orders and delivering them.

Its a very happening place with good people around.Swimming pool is the main attraction there for kids.Good service for food is available.

Huge place for big marriage celebration. 500+ people can be accommodate seamlessly. Good arrangements of lights as it is a tennis court. People can book additional rooms for their convenience. The day I have visited I have seen there are total 3 marriage party was running in three different court.

The club is owned and maintained by the India Army, it has all the facilities a club has like a swimming pool, multiple lawn tennis courts, a squash room, and in house dining as well. First preference will be always given to Army personnel but normal people can acquire membership and avail the facilities.

Amazing place for workout . Long teniss court and swimming pool alongwith lovely gym and a garden . I am an affliated member through Bengal Badminton Academy and the teachers and sirs i have are really very enthusiastic . If you are in kolkata , this is a club u can visit provided your relatives have a membership .

A great place for faujis to enjoy a good dinner outting with family. The cost is reasonable and the daru is at fauji rates... mind u. Only open to faujis and ordnance members

I had a birthday party in the Peacock room. Tye service and food was excellent. All my party guests enjoyed the party thoroughly.

Nice place. But be very careful. Lots of mistakes in billing. They also forgot to pack one item in the parcel which we ordered n paid for.
