As
we
move
clockwise
from
paramapada
vaasal
that
is
to
our
left
we
have
a
corridor
leading
to
the
fourth
enclosure
of
Srirangam
temple
which
is
called
Aalinaadan
Sutthu
or
Aalinaadan
enclosure.
To
our
left
we
can
see
the
fencing
of
the
temple
tank
called
Chandra
Pushkarni.
We
can
see
the
water
from
a
gate
near
Dhanvantri
sannidhi
and
from
gates
in
the
Kodanda
Ramar
sannidhi
platform.
The
tank
is
so
called
because
Chandra
or
the
Moon
god
got
rid
of
his
curse
by
bathing
here.
This
enclosure
is
kept
locked
to
prevent
misuse
of
the
water.
During
Theerthavari
which
is
done
at
the
conclusion
of
temple
utsavams
NamPerumal
comes
to
its
banks
and
the
Deity
known
as
'Theertha
Berar
'is
held
by
the
priest
who
takes
a
dip
in
the
waters
along
with
the
deity.People
flock
to
take
a
dip
or
to
do
prokshanam(
sprinkling)
here.
On
the
banks
of
Chandra
Pushkarni
we
have
the
Sthala
Vriksham(each
temple
has
a
special
tree
dedicated
to
it)Punnai
tree
as
also
sannidhis
for
Radhalingana
Krishna,
Vyasa
,
Varaha
and
Varadaraja.
Ranganatha
Perumal
and
Ranganayaki
Thayar
are
believed
to
meet
here
and
it
was
at
this
spot
that
Sriranga
vimanam
was
placed
by
Vibhisana.During
temple
conservation
activities
this
tank
was
cleaned
and
spruced
up
beautifully
and
is
well
maintained
at
present.
