A confluence of two renowned cultures, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus depicts the fusion of traditional Indian and Victorian architecture. Located in Mumbai, Maharashtra touching the shores of Arabian Sea, it was built over a period of 10 years starting in 1878! Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is one of the finest functional railway stations in the world and is used by more than three million commuters a day. On your visit, do take a keen look at it's remarkable stone work, turrets, pointed arches that make up for a stunning view.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is the second busiest airport in the country in terms of total and international passenger traffic after Delhi. It is also the second busiest airport in terms of cargo traffic. The airport is named after Shivaji (1630–1680), a 17th-century Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire.

I visited CSMT on a sunny afternoon and was amazed by its stunning architecture and grandeur. The station is a masterpiece of Victorian Gothic Revival style, blended with themes from Indian traditional architecture. The stone dome, the turrets, the pointed arches and the intricate carvings are all breathtaking. The station is also a functional railway hub, serving millions of commuters every day. It is a symbol of Mumbai’s history and culture, as well as its modernity and dynamism. I would highly recommend visiting CSMT to anyone who wants to experience the beauty and diversity of Mumbai. It is not just a railway station, but a cultural landmark and a national treasure.

I came across this railway station during my recent visit to Mumbai. The architecture and design is so impressive that I couldn't believe it's a railway station for the first time. It's a picture worthy spot and looks more pretty at night with all lit up with light.

I think the place itself is self-explanatory and those who visit Mumbai for sure take a picture of here. The lighting and structure is amazing. There is also a podium now where people can easily stand and take pictures without disrupting traffic flow.

The terminus was created in an extravagant Italian Gothic style by a British-born architectural engineer Frederick William Stevens, based on an early design by Axel Haig. Its construction began in 1878, south of the former Bori Bunder railway station, and was completed in 1887, the 50th year of Queen Victoria's reign. The station name was changed from Victoria Terminus to "Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus" (with station code CST) in March 1996 in honour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a 17th-century warrior king who used guerrilla tactics to challenge the Mughal Empire and found a new state in the western Marathi-speaking regions of the Deccan Plateau. The station was renamed "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus" (with code CSMT) in 2017, where the word Maharaj literally means "Great king; emperor."Both the former initials "VT" and the present initials "CST" are widely used. The Central Railway headquarters are located at the terminus. With 18 platforms, it is one of India's busiest railway stations, functioning as a terminal for both long-distance and suburban trains.

It is a beautiful structure to see, especially at night when there are many lights and colours on the building. I am very happy to see the airport has been maintained, well signed & lit & temperature controlled. Immigration has improved in speed also.Duty free had very good selection & airport staff & duty free staff were all friendly & helpful. There is even a museum inside the airport! There's a lot of beautiful local art & history & details not just adverts when you exit the plane. Amazing selection of dining options to choose from.Way better than old airport, very good going. Had an amazing vada pav opposite it. Nice lounge, Good amount of seating space.I had a drink at the bar and breakfast, Food was hot and good as well.
