Good for having your photos clicked Good for individual photoshoot It not comes under smc , So for wedding ,or video shooting u have to take permission from central govt vadodara or daman centre Front big gate is of armenian cementry Back small gate in very small gali(road) is of dutch cemetery Don't ask for clean place there😅 The tombs in English, Dutch and Armenian cemeteries at Surat are reckoned among the most important historical monuments in the city. It is reported that there was so much competition between the Dutch and the English in Surat to impress upon the natives their importance and power that they put mausoleums instead of tomb stones. Many of these are so ridiculously large and ornamental resembling Muslim tombs rather than the ordinary tomb stones in Europe. One of the tomb in the Dutch cemetery is quoted as unequalled among the structures of its kind (barring a few) in Europe. However, Mr. A.F. Bellasis who had given a detailed account of these monuments and their epitaphs in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society of Bombay for January 1861 was evidently apprehensive that within another fifty years or so the majority of these monuments, totally uncared for as they were in his time, would disappear.

Great place right in middle of Concrete Jungle in the metropolis. The Architecture is of great worth but it has weathered with time. Civic authorities should take some action soon regarding preserving and restoration of the place. It has got the Armenian cemetery more than 500 years old and a much larger Dutch cemetery of around 350 years old. Need of an hour is to preserve such masterpiece of colonial architecture in India.

The Dutch Cemetery is situated near Katargam Gate in"Gufam Falia". This cemetery has Tombs of Baron Adrian Vah Reede who was the Director of the Dutch Company, Bastina Theodora Le Bouca, Polus d ru etc. The Dutch Tombs are of various sizes and shapes, but the one that excels all the rest in magnificence is the grandiose tomb of Baron Adrain Van Reede. Must visit.. Maintained by ASI...

Really peaceful and eye catching place I would say this is. If you're a photographer you will definitely feel good about this place and also this is a really good place for making short films or doing some videography! Some new buildings surrounding this historical place would itch you if you're a photographer! The place is perfect for shooting some songs! There are lesser graves here than English cemetery so you can freely roam! The best time to go there is between 9am to 10am when you have good sunlight there! And it opens at 9am in morning.

It is a nice place to visit. The route to here is not much good and it is too small. There is no sign boards here. There is no tickets to enter into this cemetery, even there is no security guys or employees here. Construction wise the cemetery is really nice. But no one is taking care of the place. People who are staying nearby are not considering this as a place of attraction

Nice place 👌,Beautiful memorial verses have been engraved on the tombs. There was a tombstone of a baby who died merely 2 months after her birth. Tombs of army soldiers, captains and their families fill up this medium sized ground. Each touching verse spoke about how the person had lived, how he or she touched their lives and how they wish his or her soul rests in peace. Each message was filled with sentiments and affection of the departed’s loved ones.

⚰️ This Dutch cemetery holds a profound sense of history and reverence. The beautifully maintained grounds and thoughtfully designed memorials create a serene and respectful atmosphere. Walking through the rows of gravestones, one can't help but reflect on the lives that once were. It's a place to pay homage and find a sense of connection to the past. 🕊️🌷

This is performing a lot in Surat City's History. But now a days City Government have no attention on this place. Approx 100+ grave monuments with their name plate also. That are really a Golden page of history. Now a days many structure are not in good condition and people are using them for playing now.

Dutch Cemetery is place which one should watch as, this place have the remainings of Lords and Cornell's of East India Company and also Military. The place is not very well maintained. Should be maintained well. Local People around makes dirty and they seat over there and light cigarettes and all so from the Department of Archeology should look over it and put a proper maintenance of the place. It is the place to be visit by all the age group and look over the great structure made there and which we cannot see anywhere else.

About The Place: The Dutch, as well as Armenian cemeteries at Surat, are situated in a locality known as 'Gulam Falia' near the main road leading to Katargam Gate. The Dutch tombs are of various sizes and shapes, but the one that excels all the rest in magnificence is the grandiose mausoleum of Baron Adrian Van Reede and, is described here in detail. Another important trading community from the 16th century, whose tombstones are heavily inscribed, but forgo the superstructures of the other two communities. The cemeteries have been declared as protected monuments, but they still show signs of deterioration, both from natural weathering and from human visitors. Photography is prohibited at the sites. They may be hard to locate, but you can ask the locals to guide you. By Road Surat lies 234 km from Ahmedabad, 131 km from Vadodara, and 297 km from Mumbai. Bus stations, both ST and private, are on the eastern edge of the city. By Train Surat is on the main broad gauge line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. By Air Various domestic flights connecting metros and other major cities are operational from the Surat Airport.

The Dutch as well as Armenian cemeteries at Surat are situated in a locality known as 'Gulam Falia' near the mail road leading to Katargam Gate. The Dutch tombs are of various sizes and shapes, but the one that excels all the rest in magnificence is the grandiose mausoleum of Baron Adrian Van Reede and, is described here in detail. The tomb of Baron Adrian Van Reede, who was the Director of the Dutch Company in the Indies was intended to rival and eclipse that of the Oxendens in English cemetery. It consists of a double cupola of great size, with a gallery above and below, supported on handsome columns. This monument was formerly ornamented with frescoes, escutcheons, and passages from the Scripture, and the windows were filled with beautiful wood carving. The Armenian cemetery is situated adjacent to that of the Dutch. Though, the graves in this cemetery, arc bearing a large number of inscription slabs they have no super-structures raised above them as is the case in the English and Dutch cemeteries. The oldest epitaph is the one of Armenian verse over the tombstone of a lady named Marinas, the wife of the priest Woksan, who was a crown to her husband, according to the proverbs of Solomon. The date of her death is mentioned as 1028 of the Armenian era ( Christian year 1579).
