A go-to destination for many visitors to Hampi, for the local guides are pretty adamant that the best sunset views are from this hilltop. Be as it may, the climb up is hardly strenuous and there are many ruins along the way, some old temples, some simply monuments but nevertheless confirm that Hampi was a well-inhabited place in the days of yore, and the construction of that period was durable enough to endure and stupefy tourists quite a few centuries later. The sunset on the day I visited was marred by cloudy weather, and the occasional drizzle, but it was a memorable experience none the less...

One of the best places to visit in Hampi. While many visitors cover this place during the day to see the Ganesha Temple and the so called Jain temple, most people don't come back in the evening to view the sunset. Weather permitting, you can get an amazing view of the sunset from the top of the hill. You can view from the boulders or the very well made and positioned stone seating. While waiting for the sunset, you can enjoy looking at the various stone structures including temples. The Hemakunta temples are lovely stone temples. Plan in such a way that you park nearby and then drive down to Virupaksha temple although you can also walk down from here. Walk back can be tiring. But definitely include visiting during sunset even if you have visited the site during daytime

A good scenic view is visible from the Hemankuta view point. It can be reached through Virupaksha temple as well as Sasivekalu temple by walk. Have to be careful with monkeys present at the top.

The experience of witnessing the sunset from Hemakuta Hills is not only a visual feast but also a spiritual journey. It is an opportunity to reflect, to connect with the grandeur of nature, and to appreciate the rich historical and cultural heritage. I highly recommend visiting Hemakuta Hills during sunset to anyone visiting Hampi. The combination of natural beauty, ancient architecture, and the sense of serenity that pervades the hills makes it a truly unforgettable experience. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a history buff, or simply seeking a moment of tranquility, Hemakuta Hills at sunset offers a soul-stirring journey that will leave an indelible mark on your heart.

Sunset point on Hemakuta hill. Entrance from the Sasivekalu Ganesha side. From entrance around 500-700mts walk uphill (short hike). Gets busy after 5:30 to see the sunset. Very good view, ample sitting space for many folks and camera. No charges or tickets. Well maintained with local authorities for any support.

Hemakuta Hills hosts a group of temples although the main attraction is the sunset view point. It also gives a good view of Virupaksha Temple. Witnessed and captured the best sunset I have seen till date.

Hemakuta Hill is one among the best places in Hampi to see the sunrise and sunset; and not as tedious to reach the top say compared to the Matanga Hill nearby, which is boasted as the best location to watch sunset in Hampi. So if you find it difficult to make it to Matanga Hill for sunset view, try from Hemakuta Hill.

This should be the best sunset viewpoint in Hampi. You can see Virupaksha temple clearly from the hilltop. The climb up is easy and you can see lots of small temples and ruins on the way, which holds archaeological importance. You can plan for visiting this at the end of day 1 after completing all the important spots nearby. The view is fantastic and must not be missed!!

Surely one of the best sunset points in the world! Hemakuta hill is a complex of temples, right next to the Virupaksha Temple. It is one of the few hills in Hampi, made of boulders that has a flat slope and which you can climb easily. Due to natural light in the evening, this place is a favourite amongst photographers. In the peak season, you need to reach here early in the evening to get a good spot to sit.

One of the best places in Hampi to watch sunset. There are two ways to get here. One is from next to Virupaksha Temple. The other way is from Sasivekalu Ganesha. There are many small temples on this hill. There are benches made from stone to sit. One can spend the evening here watching beautiful sunset.

Hemakuta is very close to the Virupaksha Temple and it's a must visit place for not just sunset but overall 360 open air museum connotation of Hampi. It offers stunning vistas to capture. The rocks on the hill make it a paradise. The benches setup for sunset views are unforgettable. One can get breathtaking views of the famous Virupaksha with hues of Orange at dusk. A Trek from parking is also very short and doable for all. Kadalekalu Ganesha on the left while up for the climb to Hemakuta is the star attraction of this place and can't be missed. Referring to Bengal Gram in local language due to the belly shape it is one of the largest monolith Ganesha statues in Karnataka.

This sunset point is the best one I've come across in India. Hands down. The reason is, it offers best of all worlds. Wind blows at a high speed, the view of the town is incredible with huge temple gopurams standing tall. Next to the is the Tungabhadra river body that adds another contrast tk the view. The climb can be tricky and I would recommend that you do it when visibility is good.

Beautiful spot with fantastic views. The sunset is truly magnificent. I certainly don't have the photographic skills to capture the beauty of this moment. The architecture around this area is stunning. I couldn't bear the thought of such a magnificent city being reduced to ruins in a matter of a few months. What kind of savages would do this?

A very beautiful place in Hampi to view sunset. We can just sit on the hill of that and view sunset. The place gives access to view the surrounding monuments and the whole layout of Hampi.
