Amazing temple to cure your medical issues. It is on the ECR road. Lord Shiva abides with Tripura sundari. Buy milk and offer it for abhishegam.

Ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located right at the end of ECR at Thiruvanmiyur. Very peaceful temple which gets busy very early. Spacious inside with a good prasatham stall. Ample paid parking on the eastern side (opposite side of ECR). There is an entrance right on ECR which is accessible for pedestrians.

One of the Old Temples In Tamilnadu❤️ Marundeeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva that is situated in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, near the Bay of Bengal beach. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams with no Navagraha, and it is where two of the most revered Nayanars (Saivite Saints), Appar and Tirugnana Sambandar, glorified the temple with their verses during the 7th and 8th centuries. During the 11th century, Chola kings greatly enlarged the temple. The Marundeeswarar temple has two seven-tiered gateway towers, as well as a wide tank and a total temple area of one acre. For people with illnesses, the Marundeeswarar temple has been a place of healing worship.

There are two ponds here, one inside of the temple and the bigger one outside. Both are well maintained and barricaded. Copious water is available, making them look lovely.

On a typical day, nothing to see here other than parked vehicles, hawkers, garbage bins, auto-stand and filth around the pond. Come the annual float festival: minus all the above, plus huge crowd and festivities.

{15.06.2022 - Tamil month/madha(aani) 1st day}. Quite, calm and peaceful temple. No crowd at all in the evening. Had great Darshan .... felt full of happiness inside. Each and every stone pillar inside Arulmigu Thirupurasundari Amman Sanadhi is sculptured with divine idols. Amman is tall and eye catching. Mostly Hanuman, rest Sriram, Lakshman, Sita, Shivan, Amman, Nataraja, shivakami, other animals (Seems yazhi) budha ganangal, Pillayar, Trishul, Sri Maha vishnu, Brahma, etc. A Sanadhi is there for Gajalakshmi. Some sculptures are dilapidated. Outer prakaram near Swami Sanadhi sculptures of Hanuman, Arulmigu Dhandapani (murugan) swamy etc can be seen. Main entrance Pillayar and murugan seperate Sanadhi. Main diety Shiva in the name of Arulmigu Marundeeswarar blesses everone. Dwara balagar names Dandi and Mundi. After entering through main gopuram, look up for painting on the roof beautiful painting, in that one can see Rotating Shivalingam painting.... Don't miss this .... which ever side one move the lingam faces towards the person... #temple

Lots of big fishes in the pond that makes you feel relaxed the moment you see them jumping out of water for eating pori (puffed rice )... There is a garden also nearby where you can sit and spend sometime.

A must visit if you want to see Tamil temple architecture. Its a old but very well maintained, cleaned. It's mainly devoted to God Shiv. But the temple has separated buildings for parvati, karthik and Ganesh.
