I have to start by saying the food was awesome. I was recommended by several people. The best Caesar salad i have ever had. The steak, perfect and the dessert oh my god they were good. But more importantly, our server Sara was absolutely incredible. Of course ill be back for the food but ill also be going back because of Sara. She was friendly, knowledgeable, fun an all around great person. I will have to call ahead to make sure she is working.

Coming from someone on a keto diet, this was a great place to eat. My steak was delicious, although pretty fatty. We also got brussel sprouts (which were fantastic) and green beans, too. I had some lobster bisque that was quite good, but we didn't try the shrimp that everyone said they're known for. The ambiance was nice and our waitress was very good, but I personally feel like we could have gotten a comparable meal for half the price at another steakhouse. Overall, it was a good experience (for one time to say we'd been there) but I don't think it was worth as much money as we paid.

We visited to celebrate my wife’s birthday and, once again, we were not disappointed. Shawn took care of us and we couldn’t have been more pleased with him. While he did check in on us throughout our meal, he never interrupted. We started with the world famous shrimp cocktail to clear our sinuses. Then, my wife had an 8oz fillet and I had a 28oz Porterhouse that were both incredible. We also had skillet mushrooms and loaded baked potatoes. Everything was AMAZING and I highly recommend you checking out St. Elmo Steak House.

Spicy shrimp, a bold delight, Horseradish kick, a fiery bite. Awakening senses, lively and quick, In every mouthful, a spicy pick. Steaks, a culinary creed, Each cut, a savory deed. Sides that twirl in flavors' dance, A symphony of taste, enhanced. Lobster bisque, a creamy dream, A soup that makes taste buds beam. With every spoonful, warmth and grace, A burst of flavor, a rich embrace. Cocktails aged, like tales well told, A sip of history, cherished and old. Each drop a story, a vintage song, At St. Elmo's, time is strong. Dine, dear friend, with joyful glee, At St. Elmo's, where hearts roam free. A symphony of taste and lore, A culinary treasure, forevermore.

St. Elmo Steak House has a wonderful atmosphere. There are multiple floors so being seated can be a trek, but not unpleasant. The prices are steep for the average consumer, but the portions and flavor are well worth the price tag. I was pleasantly surprised and their food AND drinks far exceeded my expectations.

Ok, for a visit to the past this is a restaurant you must visit. It is high end but the place was awesome. We sat at the bar because we didn't have a reservation but lost nothing in the experience. Chuck took care of us. The drinks were mixed perfectly. The steaks were huge and delicious. The service was super fast for being so busy. The nostalgia of the place was great. The place was beautiful. The woodwork was so extravagant and beautiful. The pictures on the wall from Indianapolis were great to look at. And to top it off. The double chocolate mousse was absolutely to die for.

The food and service was excellent. The shrimp cocktail was the best my father has ever had and lived up to the hype. The steaks were tender and seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend the 38 oz prime rib and the Tomahawk. All of our steaks were exquisite and and the blacking seasoning really put them over the top. The onion rings and mashed potatoes were excellent as well. The Bourbon butter cake and Green Apple sorbet were a perfect end to our meal. Mark our waiter was personable and very attentive. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone in the Indianapolis area and to anyone from all over as it is definitely worth the drive.

This was our first time in Indinapolis, and we were told this was a must visit restaurant. Everyone was correct! All of our food was perfect, and tasted phenomenal. This may have been the best steak we have ever had. We brought out two children with us, and they loved it as well. The location is perfect too, as it was just a short walk from our hotel. Get on down there for some delicious eats!

Amazing service. The navy bean soup is delicious, and so was the dessert. For price of steak I wasn't amazed with it. Steak was very tender, but there was just no "wow! Best steak I've ever had" factor. Definitely a place to go at least once for the experience

Amazing service! Beautiful time! Shrimps were on fire! Mac and cheese delicious! The waitress was amazing and professional even though we were a group of twelve! She even gave us the history of the restaurant! It was traveling on time!

I've been to many steak houses in the Indy area over the years, most are good with a few exceptions. St Elmo's, est. 1902, is the best, outshines All the rest. Wait staff are hilarious and knowledgeable. Advise: If you like your steak well done with A1 sauce, don't come here, go to steak and shake or something?

Classic!! Everything was great. I had the Sunday night special shrimp cocktail, salad or soup, and I had the filet with mashed potatoes. I’m so full. Never a bad meal. If you are coming to town for a trade show, book a reservation in advance.

The food and service completely exceeded expectations. The shrimp cocktail was unreal, the tomahawk was fantastic (usually cooked more on the rare/medium rare side), the cocktail made my Cory was amazing, and I considered coming back during my 3 night trip. Honestly it's probably the best steak house in Indy. I'm thinking about buying the cocktail sauce and having it shipped to my house or giving it as gifts.

Great meal, great service, and a charming old school atmosphere. It really doesn't get more classic than this place. The signature cocktail sauce will really punch you in the mouth, but it is delicious. The steak was tender, and delicious. Definitely go for the Bourbon Butter Cake if it's on the menu!

Visiting my son and his family in Indiana. We decided to go for an early Thanksgiving dinner and we chose this amazing restaurant. Undoubtedly one of the best steak restaurants we’ve been to. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was warm, festive and inviting. The size of the steaks are big enough to share and cooked to perfection. If you are visiting Indianapolis and want an excellent dinner visit St Elmo’s. Our server Mark Yohn deserves a shout out! Thank you Mark

Visited the restaurant during Devour Indy Week (Restaurant Week) and had a 3 course meal at an amazing price ($60). Food was delicious and our server, Andre, is the best! Shrimp cocktail definitely had a kick to it with the very spicy and signature sauce. This is the first time I had shrimp cocktail with the shrimps completely submerged in the sauce and it’ll clear your sinuses and then some. Everything was delicious, from the wedge salad to the lobster Mac and the butter cake was oh so yummy. If we visit Indy again, we will definitely return for another amazing meal.

Arguably the best meal I’ve had in my life. From start to finish, everything was fabulous. It’s hard to impress me with top tier service and dining experience… and they knock it out of the park. Philip was outstanding. Best birthday dinner. Steak is pricey but oh my goodness was it not only perfectly cooked, the dry aged flavor is something I never thought I needed in my life. I have zero regrets when the bill came. This place is a must try. Spend the extra money and get what you want, trust me when I say it’s worth it.

St. Elmo did not disappoint!! Their world famous shrimp cocktail is a must, and it would be a sin not to have it! The spice from the horseradish brings it to a whole other level. And then, to top it off, I added a 36oz Bone-in Primed Rib with loaded baked potato and Lobster Bisque for the cherry on top for a fantastic meal!! This place deserves nothing but 5 stars across the board! You will have multiple staff waiting on you thru the night, and the ambiance is very vintage and gives off prohibition type vibes.

We made a reservation upon the recommendation of friends. We arrived early, but were immediately seated. Our server was attentive and thorough, giving us a rundown on the menu, specials, and a little history. My wife and I both decided to try the strip. Mine was cooked perfectly medium-rare, with nice grill marks and just a slight crust from the searing on the grill. The flavor was perfect. A simple seasoning allowing the flavor of the meat to shine through. The potatoes and Brussels sprouts were perfect, with the latter being caramelized and just a little sweet. The navy bean soup was some of the best I've ever had. We ended the evening with a slice of the chocolate mousse pie, topped with creme anglaise and raspberry puree. It was decadent and delicious. Overall, a wonderful experience and we are sure to return.

🥩 I really love an institution, and I really love an amazing steakhouse…this place is both. The aging on the steaks gives them a unique umami flavor that you will not soon forget. The waiters are attentive and helpful, and the cocktails are a must try. 🍤 Also on the menu..the shrimp, they are a bit of a novelty, but one that should not be missed My only con- I wish they had a simple dress code..it would help immensely with the old school steakhouse vibe, I understand being accessible…but it lowers the atmosphere. Five out of five ⭐️

This is a truly one of a kind dining experience. A friend of mine introduced us several years ago and we try and go as much as we can afford. Everything I have ever had on the menu is great. The staff are friendly and attentive. If you want to celebrate something, or just plain treat yourself this is where you want to do . Get the shrimp cocktail. Get the Elmo cola the lobster bisque is worth the upgrade.

An amazing experience from start to finish!!! The Ribeye was the most tender, and flavorful cut of meat I have had in a long time. You have to try the shrimp cocktail! The cocktail sauce was phenomenal, I see why it's so famous. Our waiter Joel was fantastic and made the experience even better! The atmosphere is unbelievable, it's not too loud inside and the decor is fantastic. We will definitely be back in the future.

This is an absolute must when visiting Indianapolis. You will want to get their famous shrimp cocktail with freshly grated horseradish. It is very potent but the effects do not last very long. The food here is prepared perfect to order. There are very many staff on hand at all times so service is excellent. There are parking garages located very near by. The restaurant is very clean with low light ambiance so bring your reading glasses or use your phone light.

St. Elmo's is a staple and it lives up to the hype! Many in the group I went with had gone before and gave great tips and convinced me to try their famous shrimp cocktail. It was really good and the horseradish based sauce really clears your sinuses, so enjoy it in moderation. The lobster bisque was probably the best I've ever had. Finally the porterhouse steak was the first I had ever had and I'm surprised I was able to finish it. It had great flavor. I look forward to returning next time I'm in Indy!

St Elmo always has excellent steak selections. The three of us agreed our steaks were cooked to our preference - medium & medium rare. Side sides of red skinned mashed potatoes & navy been soup were excellent. Green beans had by one of our party were a bit bland. Cocktails were excellent. Ambiance was traditional wood paneled rooms with local photos for art. Service was attentive & timely.

Everything was delicious! Tied for first place as the best steak I've ever had. I had the filet, and my husband had a 38 oz prime rib. Both cooked to perfection! Our server, Ricardo, was AMAZING! Navy bean soup was awesome! If you get dessert, make it the butter cake...you will not be disappointed! I would definitely dine here again!

Everything about this place was fantastic. It’s definitely worth the $$. It was on our “bucket list” for our trip to Indy. Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the menu. He checked in on us often. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The cocktail sauce will clear your sinuses right up. Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had.

It was our first time there. We liked the natural atmosphere with the dimmed lights, service was great from the moment we walked in, they asked whose birthday was being celebrated I told them mine and every server we dealt with told me happy birthday. When we sat down they presented me with a card and all the servers from the front to our server signed their names. The food was pretty good, for anyone who doesn't eat swine I would definitely recommend you ask what comes in the dishes. The Brussel sprouts were really good until we bit into a piece of bacon. The server immediately apologized & admitted to his fault for failing to tell the cook no bacon, usually I would ask for a manager but he was very sincere & apologetic & took up for his mistake that I didn't ask for a manager. Couldn't do anything but respect it. Overall it was great from the salad, to the bread, & food.

We visited here on a Monday evening for my sister’s birthday. We both are born and raised in Indiana, and had never visited St. Elmo prior to this visit. Everything was phenomenal. The atmosphere, the food, and especially the service. Joel was our server and he was attentive, kind, and quick with service. I hope we have him again when we return! The shrimp cocktail was heavenly, but the horseradish knocks your socks off! Steaks: cooked to perfection! We also shared the butter cake for dessert, and it is a MUST!

Had a fabulous dinner last night at St. Elmo Steakhouse! It was my second visit there and naturally got the shrimp cocktail and it was the best shrimp cocktail I've ever had! The shrimp is large and the cocktail sauce is delicious! Be warned it will clear your sinuses though, but so good! A must experience. I had the New York Strip and it was delectable! The service was amazing as well! Our waiter was very personable and met all of our table's needs. Highly recommend!
