I really love this little jazz bar. It’s been around since the 80’s and they have live music every night. Drinks are simple but low cost. Don’t have much for food, so just plan on great music and drinks. Good vibes for sure

Nice hole-in-the wall spot to see some great live music. Make sure you arrive 20-30 minutes before the show starts as it fills up quick! Drinks were delicious and cheap (use cash as there is a 4% surcharge for using a card). No food, just microwaved snacks if you like. One comment for improvement… if they could figure out a way to dim those harsh fluorescent lights, this experience would have easily been 5 stars! They kind of ruin the vibe for a “moody jazz club”

We've been coming here on a regular basis, sometimes 2-3 x per week. The entrance is $8 when a band plays. The place can tell a thousand stories, every inch of it has some memories from the past .Amazing music every single day! Jess,Katie,Ben and David are great! This place is truly one of a kind!

The Chatterbox is easily one of Indy’s best kept secrets. The unassuming atmosphere is so welcoming and enjoyable. Go here with a group of people or venture out on your own, you’ll still find this place fun, exciting, and memorable. The live music is certainly worth your time checking out and the weekly drink specials that benefit local not-for-profits are great tasting and great for the community.

This is a super fun cozy place. On a Saturday night you have to be prepared to sit shoulder to shoulder with people you don't know but everyone that goes is super friendly and ready to make room for you where possible. You can listen to great young jazz musicians, be in a place where there is a great love for jazz and have a cocktail or beer.

I was having a good time showing the town around to some visitors to the city we came by this place and decided to have a drink because of the music. When the check was requested the bartender which I think is the owner wanted to charge $20 extra as a cover. Covers are charged when you walk in not when you walk out. He never mentioned when we arrived and finished the conversation by taking that charge off but saying “fuck you” to me. Never coming back to a place like this

As someone new to the city, I've really enjoyed this place. Servers are friendly and prompt, decent beer selection, and there's a nice little patio area to sit and enjoy a beverage outside and just chill while listening to some jazz. No complaints.

This is the right jazz bar in Indy. Dinner at Salt, followed by Chatterbox makes for a cool Friday evening, and a happy missy. Close to Chicago club quality, minus the drive. 7 dollars charge for that quality music? Sign me up everyday of the week.

Such a cool spot! Got here early enough that the crowd wasn't bad. Music started at 8pm with a $4 "cover charge" added to bill. Jukebox available before the jazz band starts. Awesome conversation with Jess at the bar! I had already eaten before I got here, but they do have small food items available. Such a cool vibe in here. If you haven't been, come. If you have been, chances are likely you'll be back.

The place is awesome, small but a great intimate feel. Music was amazing! Staff was great.

It's just a little hole in the wall jazz bar. The dumpy atmosphere and intimacy of the seating was perfect for the kind of music being played. It was like stepping into a little speakeasy during the roaring twenties.

Truly blown away by the experience- amazingly lovely environment, a classy and kind bartender, and home run food and drink!

Very cool little bar with great atmosphere and even better service. Anna was our bartender for the evening, and she was amazing. There are few places that can pull off the cool hole-in-the-wall local bar vibe like the Chatterbox does. It is my new favorite spot for a drink in Indy.

I enjoyed the live jazz and like the bartender with the circle glasses and long hair! Friendly! I would come back solo or with another person. This is a nice place to wind down or have a nice drink!

What a cute little jazz place! Stopped in with my daughter. Had a Red Barron pizza that was very good. Drinks great also. Friendly people here. Evan Dry bread Quintet is great!

Fantastic music and space. One star missing for a bartender who complained openly about people ordering fancy drinks at a "dive bar" while also asserting he is "to be called sir, not buddy". Will definitely be back regardless, and hope they will consider expanding NA options beyond Heineken 0.0.

This place is definitely a hole(small) in the wall. However, you want some good jazz and friendly people, this is the place... Crowded and unless you get a bar seat it feels quite congested. Again come here if your in the area...

Perfect hideout in downtown Indy. Great drinks and even better staff. The music scene (besides Rathskeller) isn’t much here in the middle of Indianapolis so this place is perfect for live music and drinks. If you see Jess, she is just wonderful and will take care of you. For a low key bar, they can make a steady espresso martini to a regular jack and coke. I’ve heard live musicians come from out of town and the owner takes pride in their music selection. Come support a local bar with amazing employees. 5/5 also, girls… their bathroom is always maintained and clean! It’s better than well known bars I’ve been to.

Favorite jazz club in Indy. Probably my favorite bar too. Host is always super welcoming, great staff. Music is top notch.

Cozy atmosphere and friendly crowd. Great jazz music by “Sarah Grain & the Billions of Stars.” As it turns out Sarah Grain is at The Chatterbox the 4th Tuesday of every month. Different musicians every night.

The music is always a 10/10. But more than that, the bartenders are never shaken by the crowd. They have an honest way of caring about everyone and looking out for the bar like a family and they’re also just damn good at bartending.

Fantastic unexpected Wednesday night jazz. Great jam session group. Really really glad we stumbled by and followed the music.

This is a fun, cozy, and unique looking jazz club. Always has great music and reasonably priced drinks. They do have some food so if you’re hungry you could have them cook you a frozen pizza. If you want to leave your mark you can donate a dollar with your message and have them permanently place it on their walls.

Love coming here for a drink and great music. Best jazz club in town, and most of the local great players make their way through. Absolutely one of my favorite places in town.

Amazing live music. I got to hear Brett Myers & the Trash Collectors and they were one of the best bands I've ever seen! Cozy hole-in-the-wall with an age-diverse crowd, dancing, and great vibes.

Great little dive bar with some outdoor and indoor seating. Sit inside to enjoy the music entirely and outside for a bit more conversation and lower music volume. Enjoyed our time there on a visit to the city!
