Beautifully wrapped tamales that were like flavorful presents 🎁 from them for us to enjoy. From the beautiful wrapped presentation, to how amazing the corn 🌽 masa tasted, to how flavorful & spiced up to perfection the meat fillings was., It was one of the best tamales I have ever tried, including California or Mexico. The people in the big kitchen behind the counter, work really hard to produce an exceptional product for us to enjoy and be happy. I was watching them the whole time as I was ordering my food.💪🏼👍. The cashier was also really nice and professional.

Love THE Tamale place. Some of the best tamales I've ever had. Great tacos too. I come to Indy 2-4x per year for racing events or trade shows and make it a point to stop here at least once every trip.

The tamale selection is fantastic, and they are spectacular tasting. The downside is that they are $5 each with no discounts for large quantities. Lighting fast service. Super clean. Not a sit-down restaurant vibe but a descent atmosphere for an eat-it-and-go lunch spot.

Drove in from Florida with my fiance while on our National foodie tour. The food was amazing and the Tamales tasted like my children's Great Grandmother who was from the islands. She'd stay up all night in my kitchen preparing Tamales for everyone to eat the next day. Definitely will be back!

Been a long time since I got to come back to the area to try this place. It has a better rating on the review not 5 star simply becasue those employees and people who eat inside need way more ventilation and air we chose to eat inside and it was hot like sweat drip from your forhead hot and humid the ceiling fans do no justice. If the plus up some simple floor stand fans or one shop size by the corner before going to the bathrooms that would help immensely indoor needs some love for customers and employees to bear the heat. Other then that food was amazing fast we came towards end of day and they still had some variety left. We got a selection to try and some nachos it was very delicious not disappointing in anyway. The staff was friendly and kind but you could see they were hot. I know steaming tamales makes heat etc but I worry they may over heat in there. Otherwise stop by get some great food and or get take out they are great !!!

I came in at 10:45 to beat the rush. Service was fast and friendly. I hardly had time to admire how clean and bright the place is, because my food was ready so quickly! I love the bustle of the kitchen cranking out all the delicious tamales. I got beef in red sauce, chicken in green sauce, sweet corn & cheese, and apple pecan. All delicious!

We came a little late in the day, so they were out of several food items. That's on us - we definitely plan on coming back earlier in the day sometime. We didn't get to try the tamales. The tacos were decent, nothing special but not bad at all. The elote is the BEST restaurant elote I've ever had. Will literally come back just to get a big cup of that. Can't wait to try out more delicious food here.

I had the one tamale combo. Absolutely excellent! I ordered the hot and spicy pork, half/half rice and beans, and the hot salsa. So much food at a reasonable price. Definitely one of the best tamales I’ve ever had, and the salsa was great too.

Prices have literally doubled since the last time we were here a year ago. We understand that all prices are going up, but this is absurd. These tacos are very good, but also very small. You have to order at least 3 or 4 of these tiny tacos to be full and they are now charging $7.50 per taco. I’m sorry but 30.00 for 4 tiny tacos is absolutely ridiculous. We will not be back. We do not condone price gouging.

We have come to this place 2 years a row while coming to Indianapolis for races. It has not disappointed at all. The staff are friendly and the tamales are delicious and if wanted, spicy.

The food was good. It’s tasted very authentic. I tried the torta sandwich which was very good for it being my first time having it. It was a bit messy to eat for a sandwich but was good to eat. The tamales were good but not the best I ever had. In my opinion they need a little more sauce. The service was great and it is someplace I would return in the far future.

I've been coming to The Tamale Place for over 10 years and it never disappoints. Get chorizo nachos plus pork tacos and you'll be set for the night. Treat yourself to their housemade chips and salsa and you'll be in the best food coma. A true hidden gem.

Ordered a carne asada taco asada means steak....but I got ground beef. I was thinking okay I'll pay $6 for a single steak taco, it must be really good but I got ground beef instead and that is not worth $6. Also got their queso and chips. All of the chips were overly greasy and stale. This is the first and only time I will be at eating/ordering at this restaurant. I'm never someone that does reviews that's how horrible this was.

The food is mid. There weren’t many vegetarian options so I got black bean and cheese which was loaded with cheese. It wasn’t amazing but good enough to satisfy my needs. The chips and guac were pretty good.

Love their tamales. My favorite is the chicken with green salsa Verde, beef in red sauce, sweet corn and cheese, and the steak tortas (which is huge and could be split between two people or saved for another meal). The service was fast and they had tons of options. It is recommended that you call ahead because they can and do run out of specific flavors.

The best! I don't think you could go wrong with anything you order from here, as it's ALL delicious! Definitely the very best and most flavorful tamales I've EVER had.

Being from Texas, expectations were low. That quickly changed after the first bite! Amazing tamales, salsa verde and Glass bottles of coke from Mexico(cane sugar)

Place used to be so amazing. It was one of my favorite places to frequent back in the day. Just flat over priced these days. Quality has gone down hill. The staff barely interacts and when you ask if they have a new menu item... You get... "I don't like it or it's not my favorite" gave this place more money than I care to admit... But won't be back. This place used to be authentic when they 1st opened. Not the same anymore. WAY better options in the Indy area these days.

We live in Westfield but any time I'm even remotely close I have to stop in and stock up! The tamales are fantastic, the pork tacos are absolute flavor bombs and their homemade chips are about the best I've ever had. I so wish they had a location on the North side but as long as they keep the quality up it IS worth the trip!

A great place to get some grub fast. Reasonable prices, good food. It's not a conventional set down Mexican restaurant. Think good street tacos, good tamales, and Few other items that just so happens to have a place to set down. My description probably doesn't do justice to the establishment but it's good. This place seems to cater to those in a hurry, but don't want to sacrifice quality. Their menu is limited, but what they do is better than anyone else.

The Tamale Place is a must try for fantastic tamales, get there early because they only make so many of each kind daily. There are probably a thousand pics available from previous customer reviews, so I'll skip that part this time. I had the Chicken with green sauce tamale and a Sweet Corn tamale, was I stuffed! The combo which consists of a tamale, chips and salsa, and a drink, makes for a filling meal. You will not be disappointed!

I have been coming here since the beginning of time when they were in the original location. Love it. Surprised my 13yr old wasn't born a tamale 😊😊😊

Food was great! Chocolate cake Tamales was awesome. Guacamole was excellent. They charge extra for chip. White Dip was too Salty. Tamales were amazing!

Great tamales! If you're a vegetarian try the cheese and poblano pepper. They do sell out so if you want a certain flavour make sure you get there early, or call them in the morning to place your order. Super friendly staff and an overall great experience.

Tamales the size of your forearm and are stuffed to the gills, so be careful not to over-order! The chicken/red was great, but the pineapple/raisin was unexpected and so amazing. Definitely try the dessert tamales! The beef/red had to be the biggest tamale I’ve ever seen. And the fresh corn tortilla chips are better than what I make at home. And no mess! Had no idea they were on Triple-D, but they live up to the hype. They have a computer screen that shows all the tamales they have for the day and how many are left. Awesome idea. Takes credit cards.

We are from Chicago and make it a point to so here every time we come to/thru Indy. The tamale varieties are awesome. A board is updated with what flavors are available, as they are made traditionally. Tacos are pretty bomb too. Highly recommend!
