First time to Indianapolis so I'm not familiar with the local places to eat. Asked a co-worker and he suggested Gil Tacos. I'm glad he did. The place is small but clean. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly. This will definitely be a placed I come back to. I highly recommend.

These tacos are DELICIOUS!! Meat is so tender. Fast service, too… even during an extremely busy lunch time. Possibly the best Al Pastor I’ve ever had and the chorizo was chunky , not too ground up or slimy like some others chorizo. Pollo stayed tender. Def recommend - I’m so glad I found these guys. (Usually comes with Cilantro- picture without cilantro. I have the cilantro/ soup aversion so I get without).

I don’t know who needs to hear this but their tacos al pastor are the best! Amazing flavor! Glad we live around the corner so we can keep coming back :)

some of the best tacos in indy!!! each taco is 3 - 4 dollars — it’s hard to find cheaper tacos in town, and gil’s is definitely above average. tried cabeza, asada, and al pastor and definitely can recommend.

Very good. I had the tacos Al pastor cilantro y cebolla (Onion). Salsa verde is house made. Excellent! Agua de piña. Perfecto! Didn’t even wait 5 min after ordering. Food hot off the grill!

They make some of the best tacos in Indy. I ordered to go the first time I visited Gils'. Three tacos were more than enough for this Midwestern girl. The second time I stopped to eat at their place & while it isn't a huge place they have plenty of table space. I ordered 2 tacos, one tamale 🫔, beans, & churros. All was good 👍.

I've found my taco place. This is the best in the city. The tripe, cabeza, and pastor are my favorite tacos. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Up charged to use a debit or credit card! Up charges for flour instead of corn tortilla. 50c per taco. Upcharged 4 bucks on 6 tacos to go. The bag of 6 tacos was 24 bucks and felt like nothing. Opened bag to find minimal meat, and staff was rude about it. They were proud of it. All the meat from all 6 tacos could easily fit in one wrap. All these people saying this is the best place haven't been to a real restaurant before? To top it off ...some of the meat looked fake. Looked like tofu meat. Sketchy. I told them this was unacceptable, and they just laughed. Told them I'd never return and give them another nickel, and they said, "we don't care." If I had to do it over again, I would not have left with their so called "tacos"

Ordered the Cubana and a side of French Fries, talk about a meal! This sandwich was loaded with everything I like, the produce was very fresh, egg cooked perfectly, and the meats brought great flavor! The sandwich alone makes for a filling meal, even for a hearty eater, but I added French Fries, these were a great addition, golden fried and seasoned just right. This particular meal with a can of Coke added was around the $14 mark, it is one of the costlier options on the menu, but well worth it!

Stopped here to pick up something to eat for the night. I got 2 cabeza, tripa, asada and pastor. All the food was well seasoned and all the food was served hot. Tripas were still a chewy even tho i asked for the toasted but they were still cooked better than some places ive been to. Green salsa had a nice kick to it. If you're sensitive to spicy, I dont recommend putting too much on. As previous reviews stated, they are a little pricey but everything is right now. Corn tortillas appear to be made in house which is a plus but they are regular size and they serve 2 with each taco so you do fill up fast. In Texas, our taco trucks use the mini tortillas instead of regular so eating 5 is not an issue for me usually. Highly recommend this place if you want street tacos. Just be careful of the parking. It is a little snug.

Just passing through and stopped cause it seemed authentic. It was. The order taker was a cool guy, polite. Got the food fast. Got the taco salad. Was huge. They have a spicy green sauce that is terrific. Could not recommend any more

This place is fantastic. The food is authentic, but they also have options for those less adventurous. The service is fast, especially for a restaurant that is also full. The staff is friendly and helpful. The one single thing that I wish was better about this restaurant is the space. It is too small for how busy it is, but the prices are great. Honestly, my mouth is watering now, just thinking about the amazing food. The nachos are huge, and the ingredients are evenly distributed. The tacos are perfect. They even offer original street taco style or fully loaded with the more American style toppings. Last but certainly not least are the drinks. The Horchata, the Jamica(Hibiscus), and the Agua Fresca (Mellon juice) are very refreshing and soothing. I never leave without getting at least 2 of the 3 drinks.

Great place unfortunately, one of their employees forgot to put the lid tight on a squirt bottle for hot sauce and my plate became devoured in hot sauce

A lot of Hispanic people come in here as customers, which was a good sign for me that it must be good and authentic. It doesn’t mean EVERYTHING since there’s a lot of mutual support in communities, but I’ve finally decided after my fourth time eating here, it’s GOOD. We have a winner. Beyond the food, this place is clean, their staff are nice, and they always seem to have everything on the menu they advertise. I’ve never been told they’re out of something. I’d describe Gil Tacos as a taco truck without the wheels. You aren’t served by a waiter at your table, you order at the counter and collect it in the window when ready. But this isn’t an inconvenience at all. You seat yourself and serve yourself. Whatever they’re doing back in the kitchen, they’re doing it well. I haven’t had a mediocre menu item yet. Everything they serve is flavorful and hot. I’ve never been given cold or lukewarm food, which I guess at this point it sounds like my standards aren’t very high. Maybe they aren’t, but I’ve had some garbage food around town here and Gil Tacos is far from that. Delicious menu. This is my favorite in Indy. Also very reasonably priced for what you’re getting. Absolutely worth sharing with others.

Tacos Al pastor, Chicken Tacos. Quac. All amazing! The tortilla chips weren’t the best but all the rest was fantastic. Will definitely be coming back here.

BEST TACOS I'VE EVER EATEN 🌮 😍 Listen, this place is busy busy busy for a reason. It's delicious and the prices are incredible - $3 a taco, $3.50 for a tamale 🫔 You definitely need to get the Al Pastor pork taco! Be prepared for tight parking due to the small parking lot + popularity. (PRO TIP : Some people park across the street and hoof it.) Line moves fast. They accept credit cards but you'll save a little money if you pay in cash. They'll call out your order number from the window. When you pick it up, there are sauces and toppings (pickled onion and habanero 🔥) that you can add on top. FYI soda pop will be a can. I'll be back!

I got three different tacos and I would say they were some of the best tacos I've had in Indiana. They had some green sauce on the table that was awesome. Gil's is a pretty authentic restaurant with quick service and a large menu. I definitely will come back to try their tortas and tamales.

Small place, but wonderful atmosphere. The place is always clean. Wonderful food. Had the chicken quesadilla tonight my husband had the chicken tacos. It's normally really busy but we were able to get in and out tonight with no problems!

Where do I start? First I love Mexican food, I try all the places. This right here was in my top 5 worse place (as far as Mexican food). You say authentic, by far not. The corn in the cup was dry no kind of flavor I guess they forgot to put the chili in it no juice all I see is cheese and where's the lime? Lol. Wow. They charge $3 for this. I make it a whole lot better at home. The meat in the burrito had no flavor at all. I wasted $20. How anyone can say this is good food hasn't tried anywhere else

Authentic Mexican food. Delicious. Had the Tacos Dorados with a Coke in a bottle. Great combination. Added a little heat to my rice, beans, and tacos, which put the entire platter over the top. You have to try them. I'll take pictures the next time I go.
