One of my favorite zoos I’ve been too. Definitely try and time it for an animal showing, SOOO worth it! The trainers are experts with their species and the show is phenomenal and short enough that you won’t get bored or tired. The exhibits are spacious and considerate for each species, try and time it for an overcast day so the animals are more active. Definitely bring water or money for a vending machine. The bird rooms are also one of the best stops, for sure check it out after you stop to feed the giraffes! Lots of interactive opportunities and a great variety of species. Definitely worth the drive from Purdue!

11/9/23- we went to renew our membership, which I recommend. If we didn't have one this would be an expensive visit without many of the animals out. I'm at work when my family comes to spend the day and today I had a good time with the animals that were there to see. I recommend stopping by the Oceans and learn all about the different fish. They have a section to pet sharks and sting rays. It's a cool experience and if you tell the employees you're new there they take time to tell you about all their names and ages. If you miss the Dolphin 🐬 show like we did, go below to watch them. It was more fun to watch from there. If you're buying a one time ticket make sure you're early and get ready to be disappointed. Lots of animals are put away for the winter. I'll update next time I go.

Pros: dolphins and the show + elephants were amazing! Not crowded and easy to get around. Cons: $28.75/person + $10/car to park = $67.50 for two hours in the zoo. Only one orangutan out to see that day. We’re quite spoiled with the Fort Wayne Children’s zoo at $18/adult and free parking so my perspective might be jaded. Plus it’s quite a bit larger with more to see and do. Overall, swing the dolphins and elephants were great for us. Not sure we’ll be in a hurry to come back tho. Also, will be interested to see if the chimpanzees start hurling poop from the walkways they built for them above some of the zoo. 💩🤮

We had a good visit to the zoo with our 19 month old granddaughter! She enjoyed it, I on the other hand, was a little disappointed. I just think for the price of admission, and not to mention having to pay to park, the zoo was kind of boring. The girl at the concession where we purchased drinks was rude, and the fact that although our granddaughter was free, we had to buy tickets just to stand by her on the carousel, was a little greedy! We were able to get through the zoo in 2-3 hours, which was nice considering the age of our granddaughter! I do think for future zoo visits, we will probably visit another zoo!

One of the best Zoos we've visited in terms of layout and ease of getting around. We waited until later to see the Christmas lights, so, sone if the animals were already asleep or hard to find, but it was more than worth it. Pricing was on the high end but the overall atmosphere and experience was worth it. Really good for strollers.

We love the zoo! Our youngest kids hadn’t got to go so we decided to go spend the day yesterday and we had a great time! The only part that wasn’t so great was the forest, the only animals out were the birds. We know it was probably due to the new exhibit coming so no big deal. We will still be back! It was completely packed but we still got through in good time! Our kids loved the monkey and the elephants! We got to see all our favorite animals and everyone really enjoyed it! It’s worth the money you spend to have the fun with the family!

I really loved my day that I spent here. They did very well with handling the interactions and also respecting the animals as well. Most of the enclosures had happy active animals, the only one I thought was questionable was the lions enclosure. Greatly enjoyed the dolphin meet and greet, feeding the flamingos/giraffes and taking the sky track ride around the orangutans exhibit. Definitely worth the trip from Kentucky.

Lots to do in such a little space. If you don't do rides or shows you could walk the entire zoo in two hours. We loved seeing the elephants and how well kept they were. The Safari area was cool and the animals looked like they had plenty of room. The budgie cage was great to have all those birds free flying around. The orangutans look like they would be fun to watch if you get then at the right moment. Plan your path around the dolphin show and make sure to get there 10 minutes early. They do close the doors 5 minutes before show time. All in all it was a good zoo and one that doesn't take all day.

We planned a trip to Indiana and went to the zoo. Before going, I read the reviews on here and felt a bit like I would be disappointed when I got there but I came on here to say DON'T LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS! We had a fantastic time, all the employees we met were nice and caring. The dolphin show and meet and greet was amazing! Getting to touch the dolphins and learn about their rescue was lovely. Almost all of the animals were on exhibit. I believe only 3 were not. This is a large zoo with plenty to see! We were there from noon to 7pm and enjoyed every bit of it. I highly highly recommend going to this Zoo. Much better than the one here in Tennessee especially when it comes to their interactive exhibits. Feeding and touching birds, kangaroos, sharks and stingrays. 10/10 would go again!

I love the Indianapolis Zoo. I grew up in Indianapolis and I hadn't been to the zoo in a long long time. We live in Wisconsin now and I wanted my wife and kid to experience how awesome it is. So we stopped here for a 4 hour visit. It didn't disappoint. It got better since I was there when I was probably about 12 years old. My wife commented on how clean and well kept the grounds are. The exhibits are well thought out and have gotten better over time. It didn't even look like the Zoo aged at all. A definite must see when in Indy.

A wonderful place to be with your family and enjoy! We went there on Sunday morning and it was fun! Entry: The tickets are available in the information centre and even online. We couldn’t get tickets online due to some glitch but they helped us at the information centre. Upon entry they have their newly opened butterfly garden. It was a delight to watch butterflies moving around and fluttering through the garden! We went to the Savannah, the desert and much more. Things to keep in mind: Do carry or download the map as it makes it simpler to explore and ensure you check everything out! Do have a hat or cap with you in you’re there in summer and afternoon. Also, as we went during summer and we went to few locations in the afternoon which meant the animals were tired and not enjoying the heat! So maybe try spring for the same and it would be a better way of interacting with the animals

Overall it was an enjoyable trip for our family of four. When we arrived we had to park in the south lot and take a shuttle to the main entrance. This was fine, but it could use more signage as a out of town guest in an industrial area. Entry was easy (we bought tickets in advance), and staff were friendly. Exhibits were well marked, and the dolphin show was a lot of fun for kids and adults. The area by the cafe was shaded and nice to take a break to eat in. The plains area was nicely laid out with lots if room for the animals. Additionally, the entire zoo has a very clear linear path, which makes it easy to navigate. We were let down by the orangutan exhibit, only seeing a single one. The cost of admission, with parking, was just over $100, so not a cheap day. Overall, a little pricey, but our kids did have a good day.

Nice. Not overwhelming huge..but big enough...about 3 to 4 hours to see everything.... Lots of parking...and handicap spaces.. Lots of helpful friendly employees. Loved the dolphin show.. And a demonstration of macaws..beautiful birds.. Lots of big animals...elephants, giraffe, zebra, tiger, lion, cheetah... Variety of colorful birds...and reptiles.. Very nicely laid out..use a map....lots of restrooms...very clean and maintained.. Several choices of getting something to eat or drink stands..and outdoor tables with umbrellas..some inside eating too. Not included in your entrance price..is a mini roller coaster. A gondola ride over the orangutan outdoor enclosure...also fantastic view of the city skyline..its quite a high ride..but goes slowly. And a train around the zoo...(my opinion...i wouldn't waste my extra $$ to to ride it...just went by the back lot..zoo maintenance..weeds....didn't see any animals..just a train ride) And a carousel for the kids.. Overall..quite an enjoyable day.. And gift shop..

Spent well over $300 for what we thought was going to be the best zoo we’ve ever been to according to other reviews and seeing advertisements, however it was the opposite. The place was not very clean and I felt bad for most of the animals because their enclosures weren’t big enough. I know all the good Thai facility does with rehabilitation and such with animals but I was just disappointed in the overall entertainment and experience. The dolphin show was cute but not all the hype. I wouldn’t recommend buying TAP because it isn’t worth the extra money. The only ride they actually had going was the carousel. It was drizzling so I guess the train wasn’t operating? I’m not sure on that one. On the positive, the most of the animals seemed happy and taken care of. I just was not impressed with the big city zoo.

This was another great zoo! We love our zoos, and this one did not disappoint. The dolphin meet and greet was worth every penny and definitely an experience you should do with the children or even your adult self, not everyday you can go behind the scenes of the dolphins! The animals looked well taken care of and mostly active. All around, just a beautiful, well maintained zoo.

It was a wonderful family day outing, and my mother truly enjoyed the experience. Tigers are her favorite! It was an easy layout to walk - an important consideration for older folks in our group. And... the Orangutan exhibit is the best! :+)

So sad to see some of the animals’ bare minimum habitats :( there were like 20 huge parrots in a tiny cage with barely enough space for them all to stand - please give them more room! I also felt the orangutans’ pen was awful - no trees or nature and just a few clumps of hay on concrete and some metal poles. Honestly, I didn’t see one exhibit where I felt like they had a great set up and were happy. I really hope the zoo stops trying to bring in new animals and instead puts that money toward improving the habitats of the many wonderful animals they already have!! Until then, going to this zoo just supports profit over animal welfare and is very sad to see.

My favorite zoo...so far. Just the right size. Dolphin exhibit was beautiful...however I will say it wasn't as special like I thought it would be. They were just swimming, a lot of times out if sight. The prettiest thing was the aquarium they were in. The butterfly exhibit also a little disappointing.....not to many butterflies. I am comparing this exhibit to the Memphis butterfly exhibit. But like the dolphin exhibit.....the exhibit was the best part. But as far as the rest, just beautiful. I love the rides you can take and it's all around a beautiful zoo.

Love love love ZooTampa! Since moving to FL we’ve bought an annual membership, and it’s been so worth it. I love that we can take a guest for free each visit (we’ve utilized that several times with family members visiting). Lots of animals to see and get up close to. I really enjoy the fact all the rides for the kids are included for the entrance price. (It’s nice to be able to allow my kids to go on them without shelling out more money). The wooden playground is also fun for the kids as well as the splash pad. The big water ride is a fun way for the whole family to cool off too. One of our favorite activities is touching the sting rays and walking through the aquarium and manatee area. Overall just a super fun place for the family. There’s something for everyone, no matter the age. Also their various events (recently dinosaurs alive and “Christmas in the wild”) are such cool things to attend as well!

Wonderful zoo, even in the cold of winter. We visited here on MLK Day 2022 and parking was ample. Even though the African safari side was closed for the season, there was plenty to see, including the Oceans building and the Orangutan center, where we saw the apes come close to the glass to interact with their admirers. We were charmed by the orangutans, the penguins, and the macaws.

We went for mother's day and it was fantastic! A little busy, especially in the aquatic area, but the Indy Zoo had beautiful animals, and the whole zoo is generally clean. I do wish the bathrooms were a little bit cleaner and that there was more than 1 family restroom. More than anything, I'd ask for mobile ordering from the cafes. They do an incredible job with the animals though. A good amount of chats and activities, but not too many for the animals themselves. The elephant experience is absolutely incredible... Go for the chat, and get in line quick enough to feel the elephant for a moment. Truly beautiful creatures. I spoke with the caretakers and they care for the animals more than anything. Well worth the membership.

I had a great time visiting this zoo with my friend on a Saturday. The ticket vendor was friendly. The zoo was very clean. There were a variety of animals and aquatic life to see. There was plenty of parking but the spots are a little small or narrow. There were good food options at the food court. I would recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Great zoo, lots of walking, animals are in great condition and health/happy, viewing areas are close and accessible for young kids also. Buy tickets in advance, pack a lunch and save money instead of buying at zoo. Lots of shade for kids and plenty of seating for dolphin show. Will definitely return in future 😁

The Indianapolis Zoo offers an exceptional experience that seamlessly combines entertainment, education, and conservation, with two captivating stars – the sand cat and red panda – stealing the spotlight. As you traverse the zoo's well-designed pathways, the sand cat exhibit stands as a testament to the zoo's commitment to replicating natural habitats. Observing these elusive and compact felines, you gain a newfound appreciation for the zoo's dedication to creating environments that mirror the unique needs of each species. Similarly, the red panda exhibit is a true delight. These adorable creatures captivate visitors with their playful antics and distinct appearance. The red panda's presence serves as a reminder of the critical role that zoos play in raising awareness about endangered species and the need for their protection. The Indianapolis Zoo goes beyond being a mere showcase of animals; it's a hub of learning and conservation efforts. The staff's enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge is evident in the informative talks and interactive experiences, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the animal kingdom and the challenges it faces. What sets the zoo apart is its dedication to animal welfare. The well-maintained exhibits, enriched environments, and attentive care demonstrate a commitment to ensuring the well-being of every resident. In conclusion, the Indianapolis Zoo is a treasure trove of discovery, providing an enriching and joyful experience for visitors of all ages. With its focus on education, conservation, and creating engaging habitats, the zoo not only entertains but also fosters a sense of responsibility for the planet's diverse inhabitants. The sand cat and red panda are just a glimpse of the wonders that await, making a visit to the Indianapolis Zoo a must-do for anyone seeking a connection with nature and the animal world.

Always beautiful, clean, and well cared for! Every single trip is better than the last. This was our very first Zoo Boo experience, and it was wonderful! The amount of love and care that goes into decorating this zoo is amazing. The Halloween decorations were so creative and placed all over the zoo for magic and fun around every corner.

I've been a zoo member for the past 4 years, and it's truly a great place to visit! It's always clean, mostly all the staff are incredibly nice and they're starting to add more member benefits as well so that's a plus! I've really enjoyed the updates to the zoo and can't wait to see what else will come!

Great zoo! I have been coming to the Indianapolis zoo all my life. In all my years I have not had a bad experience. Great animals, knowledgeable and friendly staff. It's always really clean. There is always something going on as well. Which makes it never a boring trip.

This zoo is a perfect size. We were able to walk the whole zoo and enjoy all the animals within 2 hours. It was a weekday when we visited so it wasn't crowded, a few school groups. The one downside was that a lot of the experiences were closed. (I would have loved to race a cheetah.)

  • 4/5 Jessica C. 2 years ago on Google
I haven't been since they've overhauled the whole park. Maybe six or seven years. I am super impressed. We went on a weekday in July so lines weren't too bad. Staff was extremely friendly and the zoo was clean. Bathrooms weren't fantastic. Dolphin show line outside needs better facilitation. There's no designated place to stand so a lot of people walking around confused or cutting in line or creating several line branches. It's also right in the middle of a main walkway so it blocked a lot of it, which is annoying. Butterfly house and gardens were beautiful as usual.

Personally, this is the best zoo I have been to. I would say the St. Louis zoo comes close. We came in December and the lights were so beautiful. Spent the entire day here, can’t wait to make it here again.

First, I want to explain that I had huge expectations for the zoo itself based on the website and cost of admission. I'm also using my previous two zoo experiences (Pottawatomi Zoo in South Bend, IN and Saint Louis Zoo in MO) to compare. I also want to note that I visited on a day with two holidays, Father's Day and Juneteenth. Nonetheless, I would not recommend this zoo. For the price, the variety and quantity of animals is limited. There were a few things we enjoyed, including the Kangaroo Walk and Dolphin Show, but the Kangaroo Walk was a long wait and we didn't have the opportunity to pet a kangaroo. The Dolphin Show was very hot, humid, and crowded for a 20 minute performance, half of which were videos on a screen rather than watching dolphins. I was most excited to have my toddlers feed the giraffes, but that was "unavailable" and there were no giraffes out. It was a lot of walking for not a lot of experiences and animals. The best thing I can say is that there were rest rooms around every corner, so we never had to search one out. If you're looking for the perfect zoo day, I doubt you'll find it here.

We had a great time at the Zoo yesterday. It was our granddaughters first visit. Even though it was in the 80's several animals were active. There's a mixture of indoor and outdoor attractions to choose from. So, you can cool off often!

A very nice zoo. Not the biggest or smallest. A nice day trip with children. There was a lot of construction, so it will be interesting to see what all is done there over the next couple years. The animal exhibits seem to be tastefully done and in a way to make it more natural for the animals. There is something for everyone.

Took the kids (8/11/15) in the afternoon starting about 2 pm. The zoo was decently crowded, but manageable. We really enjoy zoo's you can get through under 3 hours and this one was perfect. Since it was pretty warm, we got through it in a little over two hours. They have a lot of key animals most would really enjoy seeing. +Good size and layout +Under 3 hour to see everything (not read everything :) ) +Ray and Shark (dog) petting +They have most all the animals people want to see +Easy ticket and entry process +Butterfly Garden -Overall a decently expensive thing to do, but well worth if you've saved up -It was hot, but from Texas it was manageable

Great zoo. While I missed Tundra the polar bear, I'm excited for the new Chimpanzee catwalk. Several very worthwhile exhibits. My partner had never had the opportunity to visit with me until this trip and she was impressed. [She's been to the San Diego Zoo.]

This zoo was such a pleasant surprise for me! Very well situated in the centre of Indianapolis. You can easily walk there from the centre. It is not very big but there is literally everything. The dolphin aquarium is just amazing. There were no people, it was very calm and most animals were outside. Staff was kind and helpful. Enough stands for refreshments. I would go again!

Great place to take the kids! My advice, pay the $12 extra to get the adventure pass like we did, you won't regret it. You get to feed the animals at certain exhibits (birds, giraffe, etc.) and ride the rides. All the exhibits were amazing, the only problem we ran into is if you want to see the dolphin show, you have to present your ticket you get at the main entrance. We were lead to believe we needed a separate ticket and because of this, were unable to see the show. Aside from that, the butterfly exhibit is outside the main gate, it is not located within the park if you are looking for it based on the signs and map.

We visited on a rainy Thursday, but we still had a great time with very light crowds! The dolphin show was excellent! It was amazing that it was included with our admission and it was at no extra charge! Most of the animals here have large habitats, some not so much. They have many unique animals here, such as the dolphins as mentioned and walruses! The aquarium section was amazing as well.

Its a pretty good zoo...i always have mixed feeling when it comes to animals in an enclosure as not all of them look so great. A lot of attention has been paid to the orangutan group amd from my understanding quite a few of them are rescues so I suppose their life is better now than it used to be. On another more positive note, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the crowds were not huge as I think they are operating under limited capacity. Even so alot of the food stands are currently closed. The place seemed clean and made for a wonderful family day out and if the weather is nice its worth the time to go.

This zoo was okay. We road trip a lot and there are much better zoos out there to visit. We got to do the dolphin encounter which was unique. However, we felt rushed through it and it was a lot of money for only a several-minute experience. We did a quick walk-thru of the zoo and it was more than enough. *I would not visit this place during COVID. Many people took their masks off when they got inside and there was no accountability for it.

A fantastic zoo to visit in any season! There are lots of world-class exhibits to choose from. My personal favorites are the penguins (very nifty display where you can see them swim from one side of the room to the other, under the floor), the dolphins (cool underwater viewing dome for watching the swim around you), and the orangutans (very nice multi-story indoor structure for watching them play and climb, my three year old's favorite). Definitely a lot of must-see exhibits and a fantastic stop on a visit to Indianapolis.

We love going to the Indianapolis Zoo! (indianapoliszoo.com) Even though it's practically in the middle of the city, there are so many trees & plants you'd never know it. You have to look pretty hard to see a skyscraper. The Zoo isn't huge, so it's easy to visit & see everything you want to see without wearing yourself out. Currently, the Zoo staff are taking extra care to provide for social distancing so things aren't as they usually are. The Oceans (indoor) exhibits, the Dolphin Pavilion, and the Deserts exhibits are limited as to how many people may be inside at one time. Because of this there is a wait to get in, which was new for us this trip. New exhibits for us this trip were the MISTery Park/Sloth exhibit and Tembo Camp where we got to see an elephant up close and even touch one! (I always forget they have hair on their bodies!) Some shops & dining areas weren't open, but there are plenty still available. Don't let that stop you from going! I also appreciate the Zoo's dedication to recycling & green energy as well as preservation of wildlife as well as waterways. There is a lot of education available available throughout the park in the way of signage & pictures to engage young and old alike. Next time we go, I hope to get back to the White River Gardens (included with your Zoo admission) & Butterfly Kaleidoscope.

Very impressed with this zoo! It was our first time and we loved it. They have free rides for kids, lots of animals and I love how they had it decorated for Christmas 🎄 We paid for a day pass and are able to go back again free for a year. That's incredible!! It's definitely a must go and check out for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

Pretty good zoo, the staff was super intelligent and knew their animals well. The backstage / behind the scenes tours that we did were unfortunately kind of underwhelming. While they were incredibly educational and gave us a closer look at the animals, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or as up close as it seems based off of the front entrance descriptions. We did the manatee hospital and the elephant tours. The manatee hospital was adorable but it was fairly hard to see the babies most of the time. I understand that distance and safety are both required but there should be a better way to view them since they are the central part of the tour. The elephant tour was mostly just a “stand here, get a photo taken, watch the elephant train while we tell you facts, questions, leave” sorta deal. It was very quick and while I immensely enjoyed being near such an amazing animal, I was kind of disappointed at the lack of interaction between us and the elephant. Minus those things, this park is beautiful, clean as can be, and clearly everyone who works there loves the animals as if they were their own. I loved seeing how passionate the tour guides and employees were about the animals and their jobs.

Zoo Tampa is a great place to spend time with children. The zoo is divided into zones. The animals are well-groomed. We were on the Christmas lights and everything was so festive. On the downside, we were on a weekend and there were very few parking spaces. Although, we didn't have to wait long to park the car. We will definitely come back here more than once.

Beautiful park. Animals look good. Would have felt safer if the park required and enforced mask wearing. The vast majority of people I saw did not wear masks or keep a safe distance. I will not be going back.

We had a phenomenal time visiting the Indianapolis Zoo! Our family hasn't been since 2019 and it was nice to go back. Their facility is neat, clean, and the zoo keepers seems to truly enjoy their job. My personal favorite is the dolphin show. Make sure you get your ticket when you enter the park. The show is included with your zoo ticket but you do have to "reserve" which show time you would like. The only disappointment of the day was that the Cheetah race experience was closed. Our son looks forward to seeing how his speed increases over the years.

Went down to Indy so my wife could do the swim with the dolphins experience. It was so cool. She was in the water with them, fed them, gave them commands, got to touch and interact with them, etc. I was the observer. I watched her do all the things. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. She said her face hurt from smiling so much! Even as an observer we were very close to the action and got to see all the backstage stuff. Super cool! Also the lady who led us around was super helpful and answered all our questions!

Everything was clean and not very crowded. Animals were all really active and looked healthy! No concession places were open, but maybe that’s because it was during the week? Overall a fun experience for the family! Tip: Get the zoo pass! It covers parking and admission + guests!

Very nice place to spend the day or just a couple hours. Lots to see.. I was truly impressed with the size of the zoo. The dolphin show was really nice!! Buy your tickets online to save a little money and purchase your parking pass too to speed-up the process at the entrance.

Animals were very active when we visited. You may not want to visit on a Friday during the school year, because there were a lot of school groups there. I would skip paying $4 to feed a giraffe a baby carrot stick. You cannot pet the giraffes or linger because they are in a hurry to get people in and out. The bird exhibits were great...very friendly and playful! One suggestion for the zoo, put up directional signs. You have to rely on the map or the app.

Absolutely one of my favorites! So many animal interactions, and so many employees, zookeepers around every corner to teach us about their animals and beautiful displays. We were there on a Monday so it wasn't too crowded and it felt like these employees were there just for us. It was wonderful and we learned as much as we would if we paid for a detailed tour. We fed giraffes, dodged butterflies, had birds land on multiple body parts and it was a blast, we went on a roller coaster-- the very first coaster for the 10 year old in The party, we saw behind the scenes on the empty (except us) train, and learned so much! We live two hours away and are seriously considering membership. Attached a bunch of pictures and just look at how great their displays are and how easily accessible.. we could have stared at the rhinoceros's for hours... Loved it!! Bring change if you want any pressed coins as there is NO cash there... a kid was walking and dropped a bunch of quarters and we were able to buy 4 quarters from him :) we were thankful as only one of our kiddos had their coin before we realized they really mean it when they say no cash.... BUY TICKETS AHEAD.. we didn't and when we got to the register it was annoying as they said we save 8$ per person if we do it online. There was no one in line... or anywhere around us....i like talking to people and I am older and dislike having to do everything online as I am slower and my vision isn't awesome... was it really necessary to inconvenience people when moon is around on a Monday morning? This was absolutely my only annoyance at this otherwise fantastic zoo!

Even though this is a smaller zoo, it is excellent! There is quite a bit of construction going on at the moment but they are constantly improving exhibits and adding more variety! I don't mind a little construction because I know that they are constantly making awesome improvements. The animals are very healthy and well taken care of, the staff are great and knowledgeable. This time we did an animal encounter with an aardvark, what an amazing and fun experience! I highly recommend it!!

Got the explorer pass but found out the skyline shuts down hours before the zoo closes although kids enjoyed being able to ride the Rollercoaster several times. Not cheap but we got right in and it wasn't busy surprisingly for a Saturday. Kids overall had fun seeing the animals including the macaws fly in from across the zoo.

Zoo was pretty good and packed. Part of it was under renovation so I wasn't able to see some of it. But it is clearly a great zoo. One of the large things that stands out is the many animal feeding stations. You can feed multiple birds, sting Ray's, sharks, giraffes, and even flamingos! Price is $4 each. Its worth the experience.

The zoo was beautiful .The atmosphere very calm relaxing feeling. Getting greeted at the entrance with a smile and good morning. The only thing I didn’t like was that everything you purchased had to be with a credit card from the beginning to the end . Than again it was my first time coming here I should of checked. Other than that everything was perfect we were there on a Friday from 10:30 to 4:00pm.

We visited the zoo for the first time today. We are from Pennsylvania, so frequent Philadelphia Zoo and have visited San Diego Zoo as well. We would put this zoo up there with them! Free parking, reasonable admission, reasonably priced food with large servings and good variety, water refill stations, and if visiting local you can bring food into the zoo. The animal exhibits were amazing. We particularly enjoyed the orangutan exhibit and kangaroo walk. The dolphin show was very fun. Easy to walk, plenty of shade, and ample resting areas.

This Zoo is amazing. I’ve been to a lot of Zoos in the world- London, Singapore, NYC etc, so I can compare. It is not that big, but so compact, cozy, and there are a lot of wonderful things to do. Such as kangaroo and giraffe feeding. That was cool and crazy. The ticket (single feed) is only 4 dollars, you can buy 10 for 35 and save 5 bucks. The only thing is there is a special feeding time for each type of animal, so plan ahead. Butterfly house is great, as well as flamingo’s corner. Very beautiful zoo. Definitely worth visiting. We bought tickets online including parking ticket.

In conclusion, my trip to the zoo was an incredibly enriching and delightful experience. It not only allowed me to connect with nature and admire the beauty of various species but also instilled a sense of responsibility toward conservation. The zoo's dedication to education, animal welfare, and conservation efforts makes it a must-visit destination for people of all ages."

Zoo has potential. Took me 1.5 hrs to see the whole thing at a slow pace. Nov 12. Rides weren’t working anymore. Some animals out of exhibit. Zoo was kind of empty. Have some cute animals. At least entrance was only $17 and not $32 today. Feel it wouldn’t be worth that much. Walking with the kangaroos was cool. The tiger was gorgeous. Feel like the extra rides like the train should be included in the entrance fee

Christmas at the zoo was lovely and a great way to have some family time without too much covid risk. Obviously not all animals are active in the winter and at night, so we didn't get to see giraffes, elephants and such. But it was really nice. There were some lines to get into the inside exhibits but they moved quickly. Much less crowded due to covid.

It was great, it was very fun. The lights were absolutely beautiful. I felt that some of the displays were dirty or there wasnt enough for the chimpanzees. Looked more like a cage. Just a bunch of cardboard boxes on the ground and no backgrounds or anything. It was sad.

Great for entrance to be free on Dr Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, but... Very cold out and lightly snowing all day. Not allowed to eat lunch inside out of the weather. The elephants and girraffs were inaccessible. People had to wait outside in the cold weather in lines to enter exhibits in buildings. However, the exhibits we did see were great. The dolphins were tremendous! The exotic birds were spectacular, the orangutans were very entertaining.

We went to the Indianapolis Zoo during the off season, so that combined with Covid 19 restrictions means that a large portion of the exhibits were closed. This meant for a short trip to what is already a small, compact urban zoo. The dolphin experience was very cool though, and was worth the visit just by itself.

We had a great time, even though the Plains was closed due to snow. We enjoyed the dolphin show, but were disappointed that half of the show was about how we can save the ocean. We got the important message in the introduction video, which we totally agree with. However, the show is only 20 minutes long and we only got to see the dolphins for maybe 10 minutes. Our youngest lost interest once the dolphins were gone. Disappointing. It wasn't like this in the past. They would have a great conservation message and then the show began.

We went on Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday because that's the only time this family of 13 can afford to go. It was super cold, but we still enjoyed our time there. The Tampa Zoo was one of the coolest zoos I have ever seen. There were so many animals that were literally right in front of you. I think the price was very reasonable for all that is offered there. First, let me start off by saying that the security there is excellent. Before we could even get in they had to check our bags and we had to walk through a metal detector. Once you get past the front gates everything just opens up around you. There are signs everywhere pointing all different directions. It is very organized. The paths are divided into sections that you can just loop around and go to the next one. When you get on the paths there is just so much to see. We stayed for about 4 1/2 hours and I still don’t think we saw everything. In my time at the zoo I saw manatees, touched a stingray, and saw flamingos, a parrot flyover plus so much more. All for no more additional charge than to just get into the zoo. I even got to see a small show for free where we got to see some animals even more up close. We even stopped for lunch which was a great price. I got a meatball sub and it looked identical to the picture on the menu and tasted even better. The staff is very knowledgeable about animals and very friendly. And for those of you wondering about COVID 19 restrictions. Almost everyone I saw was abiding to the guidelines and wearing a mask, so no worries there. Also, something I want to add. I was going to go on the roller coaster but it is a lot smaller than you would think. Just a warning, I mean I could have easily gone on it but it looks like it is meant for small children. Overall, an amazing zoo that well exceeded my expectations with its food, animals, and staff. 10/10 recommend and would totally visit again.

Great zoo but for those worried, COVID WARNING - very crowded! We enjoyed ourselves - there was lots to see and do. Exhibits were nice. However there were many congested areas and a six foot distance didn’t always feel possible. There is really good informative signage around each exhibit.

Had a great time seeing all the animals. Masks were semi-required. Open air spaces that you could maintain 6 ft spacing they are not required but in closed air spaces like the manatee tunnel and other areas they are required. Beautiful Christmas are set up and starts around 4pm with extra vendors.

Pretty decent zoo, but for the big price tag I would've expected more. The grounds are expansive, but with only mediocre care taken to keep it up. Most of the displays were phoned-in too. Definitely one of the cooler places in Tampa to check out, especially for the family. And if I'm not mistaken, they are still running the promotion just like Busch Gardens where you pay once, and you get to go the rest of the year.

Lots of cool animals, the food was really good too! The kids and I can't wait to come back! I have a 10, 8, and 3 year olds and they loved it. Really cool art work too, check out the leather brush painter! She hand painted all our names with little animal letters ! It was very unique and so pretty!

Had a nice time. I wish the animals I was looking forward to were out. I thought maybe it was the temperature out. It got to the 50's. The elephants, giraffes, & rinos were not out. Still enjoyed! I'll go another time.

  • 5/5 Brandon D. 3 years ago on Google
The zoo was great! Staff was super friendly and they did a great job of keeping everything clean and separated for the indoor exhibits. I'm a little sad since a lot of the bigger mammals weren't out, but it's winter so I understand. All the big cats were out, and the elephants, so the kids were happy. We spent about 4 hours there, and couldn't see everything, so next time we'd probably want to plan on another hour or two to see it all. Definitely recommend for kids

  • 4/5 Robin S. 3 years ago on Google
Always a fun place to go. Alot of animals were out yet due to the season. Alligator exhibit coming soon.

  • 4/5 Nicole L. 3 years ago on Google
The zoo definitely has potential. The exhibits that were open are nice. Some we're closed either due to winter season or covid guidelines. There is a bit of a wait to enter buildings due to covid guidelines. Masks are required while in line (where distancing isn't allowed) and in buildings/restrooms. Definitely worth a visit but look at guidelines and judge when you plan to come.

This is a great city zoo, not too big, not too small. Very busy if the weather is nice on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • 4/5 Sarah W. 3 years ago on Google
However, the exhibits we did see were great. The dolphins were tremendous! The exotic birds were spectacular, the orangutans were very entertaining.

  • 3/5 Steven L S. 3 years ago on Google
Great place to take the kids! My advice, pay the $12 extra to get the adventure pass like we did, you won't regret it. You get to feed the animals at certain exhibits (birds, giraffe, etc.) and ride the rides.

  • 3/5 Hayli R. 3 years ago on Google
Its nice but just not what it used to be at all when I was a kid. The large birds are just in a cage, no aviary. Exhibits are down for maintenance or just closed but some could be due to Covid limitations. The dolphin show is still pretty good. Its a good place to go for a walk if you want a little bit to look at on your walk.

  • 5/5 Pete W. 3 years ago on Google
Was a great trip! We came from Lexington, KY. The girls loved it. The animals that were out were very active and we got to be up and close to most of them. During covid they are keeping everything very clean.

  • 3/5 Amanda F. 3 years ago on Google
My first time visiting this zoo, and while it was nice to see the animals, I felt as though it was slightly lackluster. Could have been because of covid requirements, or possibly due to early in the season. Was very upset that you had to pay for parking, and not informed about that extra fee on their website when setting up the reservation (apparently found on a different section of their website). Food/drink, and gift shop was overpriced (to be expected). It was nice to see the different animals, but be prepared to spend a lot if you are bringing others.

Due to Covid, the line system was the ONLY issue I had. They dont do Stamps atm.. i don't see why there couldnt have been a line for vistors who needed to run the car after entering once . It would cut down on crowd at the entrance, since they are worried about flow of people. No body wants to wait in an hour line afyer being in the zoo already

Highly impressed!!! Most zoos have closed exhibits- not this zoo! Every animal was out and seemed happy! The bears were awe Inspiring they were so close. The tigers did this throat singing chant and you could literally feel the reverb from the power of their roars. The dolphin show was wonderful and again, the animals seemed well cared for and happy. Highly recommend this zoo!!!

This place is beautiful, it's amazing and it's fun. It's the first zoo I've been to since I was young, and this one is a lot better then the ones I have been to. I would highly recommend this place to families or just people who want to hang out and sight see. The food here isn't the best and a bit overpriced but this place Is still worth attending.

We where walking up to buy our tickets to get I to the zoo and a young lady came up to us and asked if we wanted their 2 extra tickets we asked how much they wanted for them and she said nothing we received them for free and we where so great full to them and it came with the dolphin show!! We has so much fun! It is a very nice zoo. I'm so glad I took water into the zoo, it was 🔥 🥵 hot. There water was more than a Pepsi by a dollar and beer was 10 dollars. I refilled my water bottle 2 times and the water was not cold it was warm but it was free I guess! They had a water mister you walk threw to cool off at the end of the zoo but it was the only one it needs a lot more than one. We still had fun and would love to go back one day soon!

  • 5/5 Ari B. 2 years ago on Google
We had a blast at this zoo we spent almost all day here and did not get to see it all because there was just so much to do and see. We came right when it opened so there was bot lines for anything.the skyline was really nice ,our face thing was the bird feeding.the dolphins show was really nice too but it was really short .the food was good and there was just so much to do.

Originally from Ohio we came to Indy for a comedy show but spent the day at the zoo. We had the standard ticket but had the dolphin meet and greet add on and it is sooooo worth it. A lot of the concession stands were closed but we were able to still get snacks/drinks. However a LOT of wasps/hornets I’m not even sure of the insect but it was close to one of them. There were swarms around almost every trash can for real. Overall it was pretty fun I would go back for sure.

This is a great little zoo. The staff are great and the animals are easy to see. And there are a lot of activities for kids. But it is small, so don't expect to see a lot of animals. I highly recommend the animal painting encounters--just pure fun for the animals and for you

  • 5/5 Tiffany L. 2 years ago on Google
We have lived many places and this is one of our favorite zoos. It is not too large yet not too small. The dolphin show is a must! It can get crowded but is very educational for kids and parents. Who doesn't like seeing dolphins do tricks??? Sit in the splash zone for a treat😁 There are many talks throughout and the train ride is also fun. You cannot see a lot of animals on the train but is a fun experience and educational when you want to take a break. We watched the dog show and listened to the gorilla talk. Both were amazing to see! If we lived here we would have a membership. There is tons of parking as well.

  • 5/5 Desiree R. 2 years ago on Google

  • 4/5 Matt E. 2 years ago on Google
This was nice zoo. Animal habitats were decently sized and provided sevedal perspectives to view for most of the larger animals. Many people though made viewing difficult. Food court was packed with a line an hour out.

It's small compared to other Zoos, but still has a good assortment of animals. My family and I love to come here. We've made multiple trips this year. They have snack bars, face painting, bottle refill stations, sanitizing stations, and a dolphin show.

  • 5/5 Christine G. 2 years ago on Google
I'm from the fort area, so our children's zoo is hard to beat. I really enjoyed the Indy Zoo. The information on each exhibit was very educational. They have more animals than Ft Wayne, less land, but Indy utilized the land very well. I love the orangutans, giraffes and elephants. The Halloween decorations were fantastic.

  • 5/5 God G. 2 years ago on Google
When we went the weather was still beautiful out. Saw kids in their Halloween costumes and the had a Halloween trail. Saw the Dolphin show. Beautiful and smart creatures. Would have love to go on the train ride around the plains. The line was alittle long but not busy long. Only one that we did get to see was the polar bear. I think he was out thay day. Overall a nice place to bring your kids.

  • 5/5 Craig P. 2 years ago on Google
The Indianapolis zoo is a bit on the small side (a quick trip might only be two hours) but is still a great zoo. They do a good job of balancing creating stimulating enclosures for the animals and letting people see animals up close. They even do a flamingo mingle where the birds come right up to you and put their beaks all over you.

  • 5/5 Rebecca H. 2 years ago on Google
We always have fun at the zoo. Getting a zoo membership is the best way its economical and provides discounts in the zoo. The zoo has new exhibits and activities. It is fun anytime of the year. It is small enough to do in one day without too much walking for younger kids. I have taken my kids there for 15 years and the still enjoy it!

  • 2/5 Michael S. 2 years ago on Google
The zoo was a big disappointment. Every ride and food Shack was opened an hour late. Apparently they did not have staff and had to call people in to work. We took the train ride and after spending $30 worth of tickets for the family saw nothing but weeds and an animal exhibits which were obscured by overgrowth. There were many maintenance issues at the zoo. It appears they seriously lack funding. It was our understanding that they pay a minimum wage is $7.50 an hour. To make $12 hour to work directly with the animals , you have to have a master's degree. I would not venture to go again and stand in line to see nothing and wait for staff that could not come to work on time because they were underpaid. Big disappointment

  • 5/5 Olivia d. 2 years ago on Google
We had a great experience, great workers there, and lots to see! Our kids had a blast! Definitely recommend a sloth experience, petting sharks and sting rays, going to the butterfly exhibit and sitting in the splash zone at the dolphin show! ❤😊

  • 4/5 Angela A. 2 years ago on Google
Enjoyed the zoo. It's one of the better ones I've been too. Enjoyed the dolphin show. We purchased the pass to do the rides but then they kept closing them and no one seemed to know how to give us a refund. The one ride we did get on was the train around the zoo. Hard to hear the narrative, but a fun break from walking around. I wish we could have done the sky tram to see the view of the zoo from the air.

  • 5/5 Lynn P. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing place! Beautiful animals everywhere, as well as plants from around the world. You can tell they take pride in their establishment and take time to care for it. Foods a little pricey, but super good. There is a ton to do, it's an all day adventure for sure! We spent about 7.5 hours and I'm pretty sure we didn't see everything. I can't believe it took me so long to come here, but I'll be back for sure!

Most animals we saw, but not all as there was a lot to see. Its worth going to the dolphin show. My 11 year old son needed to use a wheelchair so it was a workout pushing him around as many ramps seem sorta steep and he struggled with self propelling himself. Get a motorized wheelchair if able. Bring your own snacks and drinks in to save money. We hope to go back when they get the kangaroo exhibit open

We took a weekend trip to Indianapolis and planned to see the zoo. I'm very glad that we did. This was our first zoo trip since Covid started. There was a lot to see and the animals were active and many times entertaining, especially the orangutans. My family loved to see the dolphin show. It was a beautiful day, the staff was helpful, and though it was crowded there was enough space to view animals without a pile up. . The only crowded area for us was the dolphins show and inside the oceans building. We also went early on a Sunday morning. When we were leaving the lot was more full. We'll have to return again when everything is open and running. Great place for a family outing.

  • 4/5 Sai P. 1 year ago on Google
Some of the exhibits are very good. Few are below par. You gotta pay for every ride and feed inside again after buying the entry ticket which I found expensive. Food in the cafeteria is priced ok but the taste and quality is very poor. Overall a decent experience and a must for toddlers and kids.

  • 5/5 Lyana S. 2 years ago on Google
Not a ton to see this time of year but we wanted to go for the aquarium anyway, so it was perfect for what we wanted. The shark and sting ray “petting” are was so cool but dirty. The kids really got a kick out of it. They loved the penguins too, especially the area where they got to watch the penguins swim under them!

  • 4/5 Christy P. 1 year ago on Google
Our family enjoyed our visit. I would have given a 5 star review but the prices for food and beverages were outrageous. Families can not afford...Also face painting cost is ridiculously priced from $16 to $21:(

We've had grandparent passes for the past year. It was great to bring the kids here one at a time. Get there early and head to the plains at the fast west end of the zoo. All the animals will be happy to see you!

What a great zoo! My partner and I were traveling through Indianapolis and decided make this a destination so that we could stretch our legs. Parking was super fast and easy and finding our way around the zoo was a breeze. I was a little sad that a few of the rides weren't up and running, but it wasn't too bad since I still got to see all of the amazing animals! I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend it to others!

Had another fun day at the Indianapolis Zoo! We got there early as all the creatures were actively feeding and moving around. Early parking is a breeze as well. The zoo is a decked out in a Halloween scheme! You're able to interact with the kangaroos in their enclosure and hopefully be able to pet them if they get on the walkway. Time well spent. Kids love it!

The Indy Zoo is fine for a fun visit. Compared to other nearby Zoos like Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens, it's very small. Indy has a decent amount of animals and exhibits, but I would rather drive two hours to Cinci Zoo. The unique experience here is the Oceans Exhibit, shark & ray petting area, and the Dolphin presentation. Though I will day that I love the updated entry that directs you into White River Gardens. Beautiful updates and flora. From visiting in years past, I can tell they are trying to make updates for the better. Overall, it was a fun visit and we got to see some interesting animals.

Had a great time at the zoo they hosted a great lunch for our company. It was really hot so a lot of animals wanted to hide in the shade. There are some exhibits under construction right now can not wait for them all to be done and reopened. Looks like there is going to be exciting things going on at the zoo

Very fun place! Lots to see! Kids love the petting experiences with giraffes, sharks and rays! Unfortunately they removed their playground area and splash area which was really disappointing. There are rides you can purchase tickets for but in addition to any pass or ticket. Still worth the trip!

I wish I had taken more photos, but we didn’t want to miss a single thing. Our experience was incredible, start to finish, so much to see and do! Friendly and helpful staff, clean and well kept, vendors and bathrooms conveniently spaced throughout, and if you forgot to bring food or want to dine at the Zoo, there is a food court area near the entrance. There are unique experiences as well, but they will cost extra. **The Zoo IS CASHLESS** *For parents* Highly recommend bringing a wagon/stroller large enough for your kiddos and all of your snacks, waters, sunscreen etc. You are allowed to bring these items in!There are complimentary stroller/carts but they’re limited-first come first serve.* I definitely recommend checking out the dolphin exhibit/show in particular. The trainers are amazing and the show was fun and educational! (Next time we are going to sit in the splash zone!) Thanks Indy Zoo for a great day. We will be back!
