I thought that I was not a big fun of auto racing until we visited this museum. I bought tickets in advance, just wanted to entertain my boys. When we came to museum we were offered an extra guided tour to the racetrack, Victory Podium and the iconic Pagoda. After visiting Victory Lane. We traveled to the top of the Pagoda for a breathtaking view of the Speedway and the surrounding downtown skyline. The museum is full of vintage cars, trophies, photographs, fine art, and other artifacts. So fascinating.

The Kiss the Bricks Tour is worth it! The tour includes a lap around the actual track and an opportunity to get out and walk around at the Start/Finish area and of course, kiss the bricks! The price of the tour also includes admission to the museum. Which has an amazing collection of actual winning race cars dating back over 100 years. The experience and the museum took about 90 minutes. The museum is located inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, enter at gate 2 and drive under the track to get there. Yes, under the actual race track! It was a fun experience, go.

I'm handicapped and in a power chair. The facility is accessible in every possible way. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They even have large golf carts you can drive your chair on and be taken anywhere. The place is clean and very family friendly. A great place to visit!

Great tour of the facility. We did the tram tour with 3 kids and it entertained them too. The museum has plenty of old cars to look at and examine. The information about the history is amazing! Ferrari’s were on the track the day we where there and sounded amazing.

Husband and I came here from Illinois, we couldn't WAIT to visit this place! It was so freaking awesome to be inside the racetrack and also to see all the history inside the museum. Our whole family had a great time! Next time for sure we will go earlier so we can go on one of the tours!

Enjoyed my visit at the Indianapolis Speedway Museum! Not really into the Indy 500, but wanted to stop anyway. It was really interesting to see the exhibit and cars of past years winners.

Great place, lots of interesting race cars and history. We did the kiss the bricks tour around the track. Museum closing November 6 2023, for remodel. Reopens in 18 months.

What a fun experience! Definitely recommend the Kiss the Bricks tour! Buy tickets in advance! Give yourself a few hours to spend at the IMS! On the KtB tour, they take you on a 45 minute narrated tour around the 2.5 mile track and provide you with a wealth of history along the way! Once you arrive at the bricks (finish line), you’re allowed to exit the bus and take photographs, and even kiss the bricks like the tradition is for the winner of the Indy 500! The museum is awesome too! Many of the vehicles used to race are on display. There are interactive exhibits as well! At the end, there is a large gift shop with tons of items to purchase. We definitely recommend doing this tour if you’re ever anywhere near Indy or Speedway!

Excellent hands on experience of the most famous racetrack in the world. Took a bus tour of the track (unfortunately only at 20 MPH), got to kiss the bricks. Took a tour of the museum. They say every car starts up and runs. You can try to break a speed record in their video game race game (free). Price breaks on active military, veterans and seniors.

Great to see the evolution of the cars over the years. The museum felt like just the right size. The tour was fun and very informative. I would recommend to anyone interested in cars and in the area

Even if you're not a racing enthusiast, you'll enjoy this stop. We added the tour to our package and it was well worth the additional charge. The guide was great, shared his life experiences as a Indy 500 fan which made the tour much more informative. Only item which couldn't be included was the speedway lap because it was in use by Chevy running Corvette test trials. Museum has many of the past winning cars and an interactive area with racing simulators.

If you are a racing fan, you must visit. I did the kiss the bricks tour and museum. Very impressed with how big this place is. They took us around the 2 1/2 mile track and stopped at the stop finish line so we can get out and look at around. I loved being on the track itself and being able to walk around and see how big it is. I'm definitely going back to watch a race. I just wish they had some NASCAR memorabilia inside the museum.

So fun!!! Never been before. Spend a little and do the private golf cart tour. It was wonderful! Wish we had enough time to do the BMW driving experience. Looks like it is a lot of fun!

Have enough time in hand to spend at the historically rich place.. so much information and cars to explore. Must visit place if you are in and around Indy, I could not stop clicking pictures. If you get lucky as me then you can enjoy some of the cars practice for racing and can see the engines revs up and hear the music of the car roaring...

Though I'm not a racing enthusiast, I still thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Speedway Museum! We added the Kiss The Bricks tour to our day and it was well worth it. It was very informational and gave a great look into the track itself. The staff was some of the nicest I have ever interacted with at a museum. Right, when we walked in we were greeted and they helped us plan out our day to fit our interests. They truly made the experience even better!

Way cool! If you even remotely like cars this is a spot to go. They have cars from almost every era. The staff are friendly and plenty of things to see and do. They had neat simulators to try when I visited, super fun! The tour was informative and interactive, was told all the cars here function as well regardless of the date. They host team builder events too. Was definitely worth the visit.

Very nice and informative. Your guides are very knowledgeable. If you love cars this place is a must visit. I thought the gift shop was overpriced (hence the 4 stara) but overall a good experience

Remarkable collection of history. I’ve been coming here since a kid. But nothing has really changed. Museum needs a refreshing facelift with modernized displays. Needs to better tell the stories of the sport’s greatest heroes. Only evidence of race four days earlier was missing Borg Warner trophy. As a comparative, Petersen Automotive Museum tells great athlete stories through curated gallery displays of cars. I’ll come back every visit to Indy. Had a good time. But could be better.

While temporarily closed, they are still doing tours when available. Took a great tour of the pagoda and got to see views of the track I’ve never seen before. Tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly answering all my questions. Seemed to be well organized even though they just changed locations due to closure of museum.

If you are any kind of a race fan this is one of the most iconic tracks in the world! Unfortunately the museum is closed but we took the tour and visited the gift shop. Our tour guides were great and made the tour even more fun. We got to visit the winners podium and suites. There also happen to be a test of the new electric Hummers going on so we did get to see some of that. Overall great experience and I hope to come back for a race day and when the museum reopens.

The museum was very well laid out. I enjoyed looking at the cars, the winner wall and the other things in the displays. We chose to take the tour too and really enjoyed seeing some of the 'race day' behind the scenes areas up close. Our tour guides were fun and knowledgeable and I learned all sorts if interesting trivia. Frankly, not a fan, but still overall enjoyable.

Super fun museum for the kids. We spent about 45 mins there. The younger kids were done by then but my oldest could have spent longer. It was fun to see the cars save displays. The r ladies were welcoming but my kids did get in trouble for touching a few things they weren’t supposed to touch. The photography room was great!

Nice museum. There's a short movie on the history of the Indy 500. Cars that have won the 500 are on display. In addition, there's racing simulators and an Indy car to sit in for a picture opportunity. I would suggest 2 to 3 hours for your visit. Also good to know is that it is wheelchair accessible. We really enjoyed this museum!

The cars they have at the museum are amazing & interesting but I did expect more cars from & especially more cars from the the '80s & '90s. Access to the cars for photography is amazing. I couldn't walk all the way around every one but they aren't jammed together too tightly & there are just ropes around the cars so a visitor can get very close to them. I got there just as the last track tour of the day was starting. They offered to hold it for me, which was very nice, but I didn't have a lot of time before the museum closed as it was. Everyone there was quite friendly. I didn't engage any of the employees but I did see some of them chatting, answering questions & sharing their knowlege with other patrons. There was a room with some interactive exibits but I didn't spend much time there & I don't think everything was available during my visit.

For motor sports fans and car speed lovers, it's the place to be. You'll see real cars which won the race in last more than 5 decades. Great place for car racing fans overall. Those of you who know nothing about racing or formula one etc, you may just click some pics here n there, but may not enjoy that well.

We visit here about once a year. I've done the tour and it's great. The exhibits change yearly, so there's always something new to check out and it's just not Indy Car. They've had cars from Nascar, Dirt Tracks and Le Man's. Highly recommend if your a racing fan.

Very fun experience for automobile and race enthusiasts. Has not only the winners of most of the years, but also honours the runner ups, which is a very good initiative on their part. Each car and driver's story can be read off placards that are placed next to each exhibit. Other activities you can include in your trip to the speedway include and are not limited to: racing simulations and photographs while being seated in a model racecar. The speedway has a better experience to offer when there is an event going on, so try to catch those. If you aren't a fan of crowds, you might wanna avoid visiting on a special event day.

The museum is full of unique cars. For a car/ race nerd, I was excited to be here. They showed the history of the famous indy 500. You can also take one lap tour, including kissing a famous brick. Fair warning, if you are a car person, you might end up spending a lot of money on stuff from the shops.

  • 5/5 Yashica D. 5 months ago on Google
A neat tour about the history of the speedway. You can take an on-track tour of the race course. They let you out at the starting line and give you a chance to "kiss the bricks" and take photos. Inside the museum has many displays that tell about the history of the speedway. There are many cars on display that won previous races as well.

I came into the tour and museum with basically zero racing knowledge. I learned quite a bit about the history of racing and particularly the history of the Indy 500. I found it fun and informative and felt that the staff rolled out the red carpet for our group (we were there with the FFA during National Convention week).

  • 5/5 Jeff P. 5 months ago on Google
While the museum closed on Nov 5, 2023 for renovations which will take 18 months to complete, they will still be offering tours of the race track, which was a highlight of our visit. You can even walk across the finish line and kiss the fabled bricks.

The IMS Museum of "old" was a must visit for any motorsports fan, history buff, or Indiana native. It has always had cool up close displays of Indy 500 winning race cars, & cool Pace Cars from the Brickyard 400 & 500. I had to visit 1 last time before the remodel & can't wait to see the updated Museum in 2025! The staff has always been very friendly & knowledgeable about the displays.

Great museum! Our track tour guide Bill was great and we got to stop and kiss the brick. Debbie the docent in the museum was so knowledgeable! Highly recommend!

  • 5/5 Richard M. 4 years ago on Google
The museum was great. The staff members were extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. There exhibits on display represented the history of the race really well. I liked the garage exhibit, I just wish it didn't feel so hidden. I would have liked to see more on the technology built into the cars and how its has evolved over the years. I also feel that they should involve the race enthusiast more with a better simulator setup and make it more competitive by having the ability to race against multiple people. Needs a pit lane exhibit; the under sung hero's of racing. Deffinitly take the bus tour of the track and take the opportunity to kiss the bricks. If you've never been able to step on a world renowned race track, it's a really great experience that will give you some perspective.

Muzeum has a lot of historic cars. This place is very unique, one of the must see in the entire USA. On top of that you could take a bus trip and visit the track. There is short breake at the end of the track so you could take a few pictures. I want to come back to see the race there.

  • 5/5 Last F. 4 years ago on Google
There is so much history! Even if you're not a racing fan (I'm not) it is hard not to get caught up in the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I remember my first race and thinking is the museum really necessary? Absolutely! It used to be free but unfortunately that is no longer. It's now $10 but it's worth that.. but what you should really do is add the "Kiss the Bricks" tour as well for $20 (museum admission included) and you get a guided 1-lap tour of the track and weather permitting, you get to stop at the start/finish line for an AWESOME photo opp at the most historically important spot in automotive racing! I cannot recommend this experience enough.

  • 5/5 Chad R. 4 years ago on Google
Great place that every race fan should experience. Once my family and I took the buss tour, we were all excited for the museum. Lots to read, learn and take in.

A good source of history and old cars that used to race in Indianapolis. Recommend paying the extra money to ride the bus around the track. I wasn't able to see the track in its entirety from the museum though, hence the recommendation to ride the bus.
